The developers of Lost Ark have introduced their new MMORPG with a teaser trailer. However, you shouldn’t expect too much information from the initial announcement. More details are expected in June.
What kind of MMORPG is this? The new project by the Lost Ark developers is called Lord Nine and transports you to a fantasy world. The trailer showcases large armies, revealing outfits, fiery dragons, mobile archers, and indicates that more information will follow on June 4, 2024.
According to the website MMORPG.org.pl, this MMORPG could be the project “The Lord,” which MeinMMO reported on back in June 2023. However, there are no clues about the developer NX3 in the trailer or on the newly launched website.
The Lord was supposed to be an MMORPG for PC and mobile devices that allows realm-vs-realm battles with up to 600 players and where you choose from eight weapon types and 200 abilities.

Who is behind the project? Smilegate is a South Korean developer and publisher founded in 2002 that has released a number of games since then. Among its most successful titles are the online shooter Crossfire from 2007 and the MMORPG Lost Ark, which was released here in February 2020.
How does the community react to the announcement? Under the aforementioned Polish news article, commentators express skepticism. They fear the next MMORPG from Korea will feature a generic fantasy setting and Pay2Win elements or harsh monetization.
Additionally, players suspect that Lord Nine will be a new “Next-Gen MMORPG for smartphones” – with auto-tracking and other mobile features.
How does MMORPG expert Karsten Scholz assess the announcement? The teaser trailer is so short that no conclusions can yet be drawn about the quality of Smilegate’s new project. However, in the comments from players, I feel that the South Korean publisher is getting a bad reputation.
Lost Ark may have its issues with in-game shop, bots, and grind factor in the endgame. Nevertheless, the developers have created a strong MMORPG that offers a lot of fun content for little money.
