Monsters & Memories
Developer: Niche Worlds Cult | Platform: PC | Release Period for the West: Q1 2026 (Early Access) | Payment Model: Subscription model | Status: Pre-Early-Access, with regular alpha tests | Chance of success in the West: 50%—the game could work in a niche
Monster & Memories aims to bring back the old-school feeling in MMORPGs that has been lost over the years. You enter a world in a classic medieval fantasy setting with trolls, gnomes, elves, halflings, and humans. There should be a total of 18 different classes and twelve playable races.
The game world is divided into various zones, including heaven and hell. There is also a dynamic weather system. The focus is on group content in the open world for 2 to 6 players. Larger teams are intended to come together primarily during specific world events. As a pure solo adventurer, it will likely be quite challenging.
Equipment is expected to play an important role. In addition to typical armor pieces, there will also be backpacks, books, and lanterns to visually distinguish yourself. However, you will also be able to hide these elements.
The MMORPG, behind which EverQuest and DCUO veterans are among others, is set to employ a $15 subscription fee per month starting when early access begins. They plan to completely avoid microtransactions.
From November 1 to November 10, 2025, the next alpha test is scheduled to take place, featuring 2 PvE and one PvP server. You can register for the test at monstersandmemories.com/. Whether the final launch will also take place in 2026 likely depends on feedback on the early access content.
