Letho of Guleta, also known as the Kingslayer, was a Witcher of the Serpent School. To rebuild the destroyed Witcher school, he made a pact with Nilfgaard. On behalf of Emperor Emhyr var Emreis, he was to cause chaos in the North to prepare for the Nilfgaardian invasion.
He assassinated, among others, King Demawend of Aedirn and King Foltest of Temeria. Foltest’s death was mistakenly attributed to Geralt, which is why a large part of Witcher 2 is spent tracking Letho’s trail to prove Geralt’s innocence.
If you spare Letho in Witcher 2, he appears again in part 3, where he joins the fight against the Wild Hunt.
And that is not a stupid idea, as Letho is one of the most powerful fighters in the entire Witcher universe. He is extremely muscular, but despite his bulk, he possesses lightning-fast reflexes and tactical intelligence. Letho prefers to fight with two swords or uses his raw strength in unarmed combat. He is one of the few characters who have been able to win a duel against Geralt in the past.
