The wolf in Puss in Boots: The Last Wish is one of the scariest animated villains of all time. When he appears on screen, his menacing presence is simply palpable – you understand why the cat is so panicked by him.
The wolf is arguably the best swordsman seen in the Shrek universe, as he can perfectly handle his 2 sickles. Even Puss in Boots can barely keep up with him, and he has fought many battles.
Aside from that, the wolf in the film also represents the concept of death. He is a mystical entity that cannot be killed, and no one can truly escape him. While the cat manages to placate death by overcoming his fear of it, probably no one being pursued by him can come out on top.
However, since he does not pursue a selfish agenda, most characters will likely never encounter him in wolf form… at least not alive. For death comes for everyone.
