Teamfight Tactics, the Auto Battle of League of Legends, will release a completely new set later this year. Set 8 is named “Monsters Attack” and brings a new lineup of champions and attributes. We at MeinMMO summarize everything important for you.
When will Set 8 be released? There is no fixed release date. However, it is considered very likely that the new set will be released on December 7th. This is when the current Battle Pass in TFT ends.
However, the new Set 8 has already been brought to the test servers, where everyone with a PBE account can play it. We at MeinMMO will also provide you with a cheat sheet again and have already prepared a first guide: The 3 best comps to start Set 8.
What changes with Set 8? The gameplay remains fundamentally the same, but the existing champions, their attributes, the items, and also the augmentations, special bonuses that can be selected during matches, will change.
A completely new mechanic called the Hero Augmentations will be introduced. They appear during the game and present you with three champions to choose from that you already have in play. You then select one of the champions to receive a special buff.
The new Set 8 also focuses on the monsters from the LoL universe. Included are the still relatively new champion Bel’Veth and Rammus, who will make his first appearance in Teamfight Tactics.

What are the new attributes? In total, there are 10 new origins for the various champions. Most of the information in this section comes from Mortdog, the lead designer of TFT. We have also created another cheat sheet for Set 8.
The first origin is called “A.D.M.I.N” and has different effects in each match and for each player. Part of this origin are Blitzcrank, Camille, LeBlanc, and Soraka.
Champions of the Super attribute strike a pose at the beginning of the match and grant all team members bonus damage for every 3-gold champion you have on your team. Included in Super are the champions Gankplank, Lee Sin, and Malphite.
The strongest monsters have the Threat attribute, which also has a brand new mechanic. Because Threat does nothing at all. However, there is also no negative effect if you bring many Threats onto the field. The champions here include Cho’Gath, Rammus, Vel’Koz, Aurelion Sol, Bel’Veth, Zac, and Fiddlesticks.

Additionally, the Star Guardians are making a return. They gain additional mana the more of them are on the field. The Star Guardians include Lux, Rell, Yuumi, Kai’Sa, Nilah, Ekko, Taliyah, and Syndra.
The Inventors create one or two new items per round that each champion can equip. However, this weapon disappears after a fight against another player. The Inventors are Lulu, Poppy, Annie, Zoe, and Nunu.
The Laser Corps work with drones. Whenever a champion from the Laser Corps lands an attack or is hit by an attack, there is a 50% chance that the drone deals damage. The damage increases the more Laser Corps you have. This group includes: Ashe, Renekton, Yasuo, Senna, Sejuani, Zed, and Mordekaiser.
The Anima Squad briefly celebrates after a kill and gains 5 maximum health points each time. They also deal more damage and gain more ability power the more champions from the Anima Squad are on the field.
The Civilians empower your remaining champions on the field. They grant them increased mana regeneration or shields. Civilians include Galio, Sivir, and Janna.
The champions of the Underground origin bring you additional loot depending on whether you win or lose.
Ox Force grants the champions additional attack speed the more health they lose. Once per fight, they become invulnerable for 1.5 seconds to deal significant damage with their last breath.
The last origin is named Mecha: PRIME. You select one champion of the origin to become the PRIME and absorbs the next two Mecha. This grants him 120% of the health points of these champions. Additionally, there is extra damage and ability power depending on the number of Mecha on the field. This origin includes Wukong, Draven, Jax, Sett, and Leona.
What classes are there? In addition to the origins, the champions also have classes. These are:
- Defender – Taunts nearby enemies and grants the team additional armor.
- Spellslinger – Increases ability power and provides additional magic orbs that deal damage.
- Recon – Gains additional crit chance.
- Renegade – Deals more damage and deals even more damage when only one Renegade is alive.
- Mascot – Provides additional health regeneration for the entire team.
- Prankster – Summons a target dummy once per fight and stuns enemies that they have killed.
- Brawler – Grants all brawlers additional health.
- Heart – Increases your team’s ability power for each spell used.
- Hacker – Gains omnivamp.
- Aegis – Provides additional magic resistance to the team.
- Sureshot – More attack damage for Sureshots.
- Ace – Executes enemies below 10% or 25% health.
- Duelist – Gains additional movement and attack speed up to 10 stacks.
What do we know about the augmentations? There are a total of 118 hero augmentations, two for each champion. These hero augmentations can appear in rounds 2-1, 3-2, or 4-2. But only once.
In the other rounds, the “normal” augmentations will appear. There are 180 of those, including many new or adjusted ones.
Is anything changing with the items? Yes. The items from the spatula have been replaced and the new item Guardbreaker has been created. It is formed from the Giants Belt and the Gloves and provides bonus attack damage and additional ability power. Additionally, the bearer deals more damage to targets who have an active shield.
Moreover, there have been some balance adjustments. Statikk Shiv now gives more ability power instead of attack speed.
Champions become stronger in Set 8
What else is new? In Set 8, the items have been weakened and instead, the champions have been strengthened overall. This is to reduce the difference between a champion with three items and one without items.
Physical spells now function like magic spells. They can no longer be dodged, but they also can no longer critically hit unless you have the corresponding item.
Additionally, stages 4-7, 5-7, and 6-7 have been equipped with new boss monsters.
What do you think of the new Set 8 in Teamfight Tactics? Do the changes appeal to you?
