The new year brings many changes for Season 13. However, first all players have to go through the Pre-Season of League of Legends. What Riot Games has planned for the season and when it starts, we explain here.
When does Season 13 start? Currently, there is no specific date for when Season 13 in League of Legends will begin. However, we can narrow it down to a closer timeframe based on some data:
- The end of Season 12 comes with Patch 12.22. This hits the live servers on Wednesday, November 15.
- From then on, every player can play the changes of the Pre-Season. The Pre-Season brings new changes for the Jungle and the Toplane.
- In order for LoL players to prepare for the start of a new season, it usually begins about 2 months after the start of the Pre-Season.
- Season 13 would accordingly start in the first weeks of January 2023.
Here you can see the new champion at the end of the season. K’Sante is intended for the Toplane:
Pre-Season simplifies the Jungle, strengthens the Toplane
These are the most important changes: The Chemtech Dragon is returning to the Rift. It brings a new buff that makes you stronger when you have less health and enhances the plants on the map once it changes the map.
There will also be pets for the jungler that you can train to make their effects stronger. The 3 different pets are called in English:
- Mosstomper – Gives you a shield when you are out of combat. Additionally, you receive increased resistances.
- Scorchclaw – Deals extra damage and slows the first enemy when you attack them.
- Gustwalker – Increases your movement speed when you come out of bushes or kill neutral monsters.

The aggression levels of monsters in the jungle have also been adjusted. This means that no more than two camps can be done at the same time. The jungle paths will be clearer, making it easier to enter the jungle. The optimal paths from Season 12 need to be re-evaluated.
The game now gives you tips on the order in which you can efficiently clear the camps. Additionally, they assist you with items and runes. This means you don’t need external programs anymore. League does all of that itself.
Additionally, new and revised items will be relevant for many top lane champions. We have already introduced the 5 best top laners for the Pre-Season. Tanks will be able to withstand more, and fighters will deal more damage. Furthermore, the top lane will earn more gold and experience for killing minions.
What changes with Season 13? What other changes will be specifically in Season 13 is still unknown. If anything else happens or if the Pre-Season changes, you will find out here on MeinMMO.
