Last night, Riot Games released the new patch 9.15 for Teamfight Tactics. The focus was on the revisions of many traits and origins.
What are the highlights of the patch? Patch 9.15 was the second major patch since the launch of Teamfight Tactics. It didn’t introduce a new champion, unlike patch 9.14, but it did bring plenty of balance changes.
Highlights include the numerous revisions of classes and origins in the game, which we will delve into further below. There are also hints for new champions and new items, as the developers have introduced new bonuses for four classes:
- Gunslinger 6 = Gunslingers have a chance for 3 additional attacks.
- Brawler 6 = All Brawlers gain 1,200 additional health.
- Shapeshifter 6 = Shapeshifters gain 120% additional health upon transforming.
- Blade Master 9 = Blade Masters have a chance for 4 additional attacks.
These bonuses are not yet accessible, except for the Blade Master. This suggests that either new spatula items or new champions of these classes are coming.
It also means that you can now make your Draven even stronger. With three additional champions wielding the Blade of the Ruined King, you achieve the 9-stack buff, which has already been achieved on the PBE (via reddit).
Alongside this update, there are also small highlights in bug fixes and adjustments:
- The “Play Again” button now returns you to the last mode you played. Players can now remain in ranked mode permanently, which many have requested.
- Garen now moves again while he is in spin-to-win mode.
In the following, we will take an in-depth look at the changes of the patch.
Major overhaul for Noble and Void Creatures
Which origins benefit from the patch? As previously announced, the developers of Teamfight Tactics have extensively revised some origins and classes.
While Demons and Dragons were rather weakened by this patch, Nobles and Void Creatures can rejoice over significant adjustments.
Demons:
Demons have been too strong in the previous meta. Varus and Aatrox were at the top of the tier lists. This is set to change:
- Demons: The chance for mana burning is reduced from 25%/50%/85% to 20%/35%/60%.
- Varus – ability damage is reduced from 400/600/800 to 300/550/800.
- Aatrox – ability damage is reduced from 400/700/1,000 to 250/600/950. His health is also reduced from 750 to 700.
- Morgana – ability damage is reduced from 300/375/450 to 200/325/450.
Dragons
Dragons were completely immune to magic damage due to their bonus. This has now changed, and their Dragon Claw bonus has been adjusted. In return, both dragons were buffed:
- Dragon: Magic immunity is reduced from 100% to 83%.
- Shyvana – armor increased from 20 to 30.
- Aurelion Sol – health increased from 600 to 650.
- Aurelion Sol – ability damage increased from 250/450/650 to 250/500/750.
Noble
Nobles will enjoy a significant change, as their bonus now also grants magic resistance, making them stronger against spellcasters and elemental mages. In return, however, they lose some armor:
- Noble: 100 armor/+35 health per hit changes to 60 armor and magic resistance/+35 health per hit.
- Vayne – attack damage reduced from 45 to 40. Attack speed is increased from 0.65 to 0.75.
- Garen – attack damage reduced from 55 to 50. Attack speed is increased from 0.55 to 0.6. Ability damage is adjusted from 450/585/720 to 360/585/810.
Void Creature
Void Creatures have hardly been used by players until now. Therefore, they were significantly adjusted in patch 9.15. This affects both their bonus and some champions:
- Void Creatures: “All your units ignore 50% armor” changes to “Void Creatures now deal true damage”.
- Kassadin – attack damage increased from 45 to 55. Attack speed is reduced from 0.65 to 0.6.
- Kha’Zix – ability damage against non-isolated targets is increased from 150/250/350 to 150/300/450. His attack damage is also increased from 50 to 55.
- Rek’Sai – attack damage increased from 40 to 50. Ability damage increased from 150/250/350 to 200/350/500. However, healing from the ability is reduced from 300/400/500 to 150/300/450.
- Cho’Gath – attack speed increased from 0.55 to 0.6. Ability damage is increased from 200/400/600 to 250/500/750. However, the duration of the knock-up is reduced from 1.5/2/2.5 to 1.5/1.75/2.
What else changed with origins? In addition to these major changes, smaller ones were also made. Elemental Mages experienced a nerf in the small patch 9.14b. In return, Brand and Lissandra have been strengthened:
- Lissandra – ability damage increased from 150/200/250 to 150/275/400.
Brand – ability damage increased from 175/325/475 to 200/375/550.
The Yordles, on the other hand, have been slightly buffed in the early game. The dodge chance has been increased, and Gnar and Veigar have been slightly improved:
- Yordle: The dodge chance changes from (3) 25%/(6) 60% dodge to (3) 30%/(6) 55% dodge. Also avoids hit effects.
- Lulu – armor reduced from 25 to 20.
- Veigar – health increased from 450 to 500.
- Gnar – attack damage increased from 45 to 50.
Knight now strengthens all allies
Which classes were changed by the patch? In addition to the aforementioned additional class bonuses, there were also many balance adjustments.
There are significant changes to Assassins, Knights, and Ninjas, and minor changes to Protectors and Pirates.
Assassins
The Assassins get interesting updates. Alongside buffs for some champions, they now also jump earlier, while non-Assassins move slower:
- Assassins jump earlier and their jumps are faster. Non-Assassins move slower at the start of the fight. In return, Assassins can be attacked sooner.
- Evelynn – attack damage increased from 60 to 70. Ability damage is increased from 200/250/350 to 200/300/400.
- Katarina – ability targets increased from 3/5/7 to 4/6/8.
- Rengar – attack damage increased from 65 to 70. Attack speed increases from 0.55 to 0.6, and the attack speed buff of the ability from 0.3/0.5/0.7 to 0.4/0.7/1.0.
Protectors
Protectors are getting closer to their name with this patch. The armor on other targets is increased, but they no longer strengthen themselves. They generally get more armor:
- Protectors: (2) 40 armor per level is increased to (2) 50 armor per level. Protectors do not apply the buff to themselves.
- Braum – armor increased from 25 to 75.
- Leona – armor increased from 55 to 100.
Ninjas
Kennen is currently one of the strongest champions and in general, ninjas are often used as an enhancement to many combos. With the new patch, they also gain ability power, but slightly lose attack damage:
- Ninja attribute bonus: (1) 40% attack damage/(4) 80% attack damage changes to (1) +40 attack damage and ability power/(4) +60 attack damage and ability power.
- Shen – attack speed increased from 0.6 to 0.7.
- Zed – attack speed increased from 0.6 to 0.65. Attack damage is simultaneously increased from 60 to 65.
- Kennen – ability damage reduced from 400/650/900 to 225/450/675.
- Akali – ability damage reduced from 200/375/550 to 150/275/400.
Pirates
Pirates now yield more gold and the Twisted Fate introduced in the last patch receives a small buff:
- Pirate: Average gold per chest is increased from 1.6 to 1.75.
- Graves – attack speed increased from 0.5 to 0.55.
- Twisted Fate – now attacks better and his ability damage is increased from 100/150/200 to 150/250/350.
Knight
The biggest overhaul in classes hits the Knights. They now strengthen the entire team but lose their damage reduction. In compensation, everyone gains a bit of armor:
- Knights block 20/40/80 damage from normal attacks ⇒ Your team ignores 15/30/55 damage from all sources.
- Darius – armor increased from 25 to 40.
- Garen – armor increased from 35 to 40.
- Mordekaiser – armor increased from 35 to 40.
- Sejuani – armor increased from 35 to 40. Stun duration is also increased from 2/3.5/5 to 2/4/6.
- Kayle – health reduced from 800 to 750. In return, however, armor is increased from 35 to 40.
Buffs for Archers and Nerf for player damage
What else changed with the champions? Many champion changes were released alongside adjustments to the classes or origins. However, there were additional balance changes:
- Blitzcrank – mana reduced from 150 to 125.
- Ashe – attack damage increased from 60 to 65.
- Kindred – attack damage increased from 55 to 60.
- Morgana – execution duration of ability increased from 0.35 to 0.5 seconds.
- Yasuo – attack damage increased from 65 to 75.
- Karthus – ability damage increased from 350/600/850 to 400/700/1,000. The number of targets for the ability is also increased from 4/7/10 to 5/9/13.
Nerfs to many items
What has changed with the items? In this patch, the changes to items have been rather minimal. The most significant impact was on the Amulet of the Iron Solari, which now grants a shield of 250 health for the first 4 seconds of the fight instead of permanently.
Additionally, there were further nerfs for:
- Ionian Spark – damage reduced from 200 to 150.
- Silence – duration reduced from 5 seconds to 3 seconds.
- Static’s Shot – damage reduced from 100 to 90.
What other changes were there? The new patch also brought general adjustments. For example, the damage from neutral NPCs and summoned creatures has been adjusted:
- Damage from small spiders/elemental golem: 2 ⇒ 1
- Rank 4 (1 star): 3 ⇒ 2
- Rank 5 (1 star): 4 ⇒ 3
- Rank 3 (2 stars): 4 ⇒ 3
- Rank 4 (2 stars): 5 ⇒ 4
- Rank 5 (2 stars): 6 ⇒ 5
- Rank 4 (3 stars): 7 ⇒ 6
There is also an adjustment to the win and loss streaks. Additional gold is now awarded after 2, 4, and 7 rounds.
In the carousel, there is now one less champion available since the release of the patch. Instead of 10, only 9 champions are offered. The selection is now even more competitive.
Additionally, there have been numerous graphical adjustments regarding champions’ effects. Many are now significantly clearer than before.
Teamfight Tactics is not yet playable on mobile. However, there is now a new game for Tencent for smartphones:
