The Twitch streamer Joseph Mang0
Marquez misbehaved while drunk a year ago. He has now reached a milestone of improvement.
What does this personal success mean? The streamer Mang0 has almost 500,000 followers on Twitch and has now achieved a personal milestone: he has not consumed alcohol for a year. In a livestream (highlight on YouTube), he shares how this year has been for him.
In the first months, Mang0 says he consciously avoided situations with alcohol and isolated himself to escape the temptation. This helped him immensely, and eventually he felt less and less urge to drink, even though alcohol had previously been a part of his normality and especially his persona.
For Mang0, abstaining from alcohol has many positive effects. He perceives activities better and engages in various sports experiences.
Not drinking for a year was an important goal for Mang0, which he has now achieved. He set up a counter in his stream to track the days. Nevertheless, he leaves open the question of whether he will ever drink again. He wants to decide that privately, he says.
What did Mang0 do a year ago? A year ago, during a Mario Kart world event hosted by streamer Ludwig Ahgren, unpleasant incidents involving Mang0 occurred. The event was called Beerio Kart and it was about playing Mario Kart while drinking beer.
However, Mang0 seemed unable to handle the alcohol and eventually became so drunk that he sexually harassed the present female streamers. He also constantly touched the hair of the streamer ExtraEmily.
The incident had several consequences. Mang0 was kicked out of the eSports organization Cloud9, for which he had been playing up until that point. Additionally, the event’s organizer – streamer Ludwig Ahgren – announced that he would no longer invite Mang0 to his events in the future.
These consequences and reflecting on his behavior seemed to drive Mang0 to improve and stop drinking alcohol. A decision that is not only positive for his environment but also for himself.

Other Twitch streamers also often struggle to behave in-stream and in front of the camera. Like ExtraEmily, who has often attracted attention for reckless driving because she shared her drives live on Twitch: 28-year-old nearly crashes a car because she must stream while driving – Twitch gives her a day off
