Jagex has launched the open beta of the MMORPG classic Old School Runescape for mobile devices. If you own an Android smartphone, you can participate – under a certain condition.
The market for mobile MMORPGs is growing, and now another one joins the fray: RuneScape, the MMO classic that has been captivating players for over 17 years, is entering open beta.

Runescape as a Mobile Game
Which version is being played? The mobile version that is starting now is Old School Runescape. This version started in 2013 and is based on an older version of the online game. Old School Runescape is a response to veterans who were not satisfied with the many changes in the regular version of the game and preferred to play the classic edition.
Which devices are supported? You need a smartphone with the Android operating system to participate. It must have Android Lollipop (5.0) or higher installed. iOS devices are not yet supported. Additionally, the Google Pixel C and Huawei P8 Lite devices are experiencing issues.

- Download the beta only from the official link!
- You must have an account for Old School Runescape. If you install the game without an account, you will receive a message that you can only play with an account.
- There is an installation limit that restricts the number of downloads. However, the number of players will be regularly increased as the server stability is improved.
- The beta currently does not offer a way to spend money in the game.
- It is not yet decided whether the open test will be made accessible to players without an account.
