Recently, Sony announced the new PlayStation Plus Games for December 2020. They are now available for download in the PS Store. This time there are 3 free monthly games – 2 for PlayStation 4 and one for both PS4 and PlayStation 5. Additionally, new PS5 owners can also secure the PS Plus Collection with PS Plus.
These new PS Plus games are available in December 2020: In December, PlayStation Plus subscribers can look forward to 3 games – no matter if you are playing on PS4 or PS5.
The following free games are available this time:
- Just Cause 4 (PS4) – an explosive action-adventure
- Rocket Arena (PS4) – a 3vs3 online shooter
- Worms Rumble (PS4 and PS5) – crazy multiplayer battles with the cult worms, now in real-time and no longer turn-based
Keep in mind that you can also play the two pure PS4 titles on PlayStation 5 through the backward compatibility feature. Additionally, new PS5 owners can also look forward to the 20 titles from the PS Plus Collection, if they haven’t secured them yet.
When will the new monthly games be available for free download on PS? The 3 new PS Plus games can be downloaded by members starting now (December 1st) in the PlayStation Store at no additional cost.
The PS Plus Collection has been permanently available since the launch of the PS5 and can be downloaded at any time, especially if you missed it.
Just Cause 4 (PS4)
What is Just Cause 4? It is an open-world action-adventure that plays more like a third-person shooter.
Just Cause 4 places you in the fictional and variably designed world of Solis, clearly inspired by South America. There, you play as the main protagonist Rico Rodriguez, standing up against the evil military organization Black Hand. You must organize a rebellion to overthrow this powerful private army as well as a dictator. In this process, you also uncover the past of Rico’s father.
On your adventures, you have various weapons, vehicles, and numerous crazy gadgets like a grappling hook or a wing suit at your disposal, enabling you to create plenty of chaos and cool action sequences.
You should check out Just Cause 4 if you enjoy explosive action and spectacular battles. Because fast-paced and wild action is essentially what Just Cause 4 offers nonstop. But also, anyone who wants to experience a beautiful open world and values freedom of choice in games should have a lot of fun with this title. Fans of Just Cause will likely feel right at home.

Rocket Arena (PS4)
What is Rocket Arena? Rocket Arena is a colorful 3vs3 multiplayer shooter played from a third-person perspective. There is no single-player mode. Essentially, Rocket Arena is a mix of Overwatch and Smash Bros. You engage in action-packed, fast-paced shooter duels in small arenas, focusing on the namesake rockets and different characters – each with their own special abilities.
With these, you fight opponents on the ground and in the air in various modes on different maps. The goal is to defeat the other team using weapons and abilities. The character you play levels up, allowing you to equip stronger artifacts and gain various advantages in combat. Additionally, you earn credits to purchase alternative, purely cosmetic costumes.
You should check out Rocket Arena if you enjoy fast-paced, entertaining, and visually striking shooter gameplay as well as characters with special abilities like in Overwatch that you need to understand and master. Even if you generally enjoy team-based shooters and the colorful look of Fortnite or Overwatch, you should have fun here.

Worms Rumble (PS4 and PS5)
What is Worms Rumble? The cult game series Worms is known for its tactical, turn-based battles where teams of worms fight against each other. They are heavily armed to the teeth. However, with Worms Rumble, the popular series now takes a new direction, delivering real-time battles focusing on just one worm – including cross-play between PC and consoles with up to 32 players.
You choose from an arsenal of iconic weapons like a bazooka or shotgun and engage in real-time battles with other players in modes like Deathmatch (Solo) or Last Worm/Squad Standing (essentially Battle Royale), participate in challenges, or experience seasonal events – alone or in teams. You are no longer controlling a team but a single worm, which you can level up and extensively customize. Additionally, the worms now also have new movement abilities. They can roll or jump up walls and are generally faster.
By the way, Worms Rumble launches on December 1st. PS Plus members will receive the title as a monthly free game right at launch.
You should check out Worms Rumble if you are a fan of the Worms games. Although Worms Rumble takes new paths and shifts its focus from turn-based tactics to real-time shooting, one or the other Worms enthusiast and strategist might still find it appealing. The charm remains intact, and tactics are not completely thrown out the window.
Whoever enjoys entertaining shooting sessions and fast-paced action in games, enjoys testing their skills against others, and seeks a change from the usual mainstream candidates, could certainly find satisfaction here.

PS Plus Collection (PS5)
What exactly is the PS Plus Collection? The PS Plus Collection is essentially a collection of 20 top titles that were released during the PS4 era.
