The GO Fest in Pokémon GO is almost around the corner. Now it’s known what’s going to happen in the raids. Spoiler: A lot.
The GO Fest in summer will perhaps be the biggest of all time. It’s logical, as it falls in the year celebrating the tenth anniversary of Pokémon GO. Not only are the bonuses available for free, but a lot of Pokémon will also appear.
Leading the pack will be many chasing the long-awaited Mega Mewtwo. After all, players have wanted to catch it for years.
But Mewtwo will not be the only legend roaming this GO Fest weekend. In fact, not even close. Because almost every legendary Pokémon ever catchable in Pokémon GO will be available in raids, as is now known.

What is the problem with so many Legendaries?
This is what MeinMMO author Max Handwerk thinks: If you’ve opened the dropdown boxes above, you’ll see: On these two days of the GO Fest, there is a lot going on. And indeed, one non-negligible factor is still missing when looking at just the Legendaries. Because during the GO Fest, there will also be plenty of Mega Raids featuring various Mega Evolutions.
In short: The arenas will be full.
Now, looking at the comments on the topic, for example on Reddit, one quickly sees that there is a certain concern regarding the issue. Because many players are aiming for the new Mega Mewtwo in its two forms at the GO Fest.
Due to the sheer number of Mega and 5-star raids that are not Mega Mewtwo, however, there are two concerns:
- Will I even find Mega Mewtwo raids? Or is everything full of other monsters?
- And will enough people participate?
Especially the second point cannot be underestimated. The Super Mega Raid against Mega Mewtwo will be extremely difficult, as the monster will provide shields that can only be broken by Mega Evolutions. It will be essential to join with many other trainers to take on the monster if one wants to catch it.
It’s difficult when they are scattered over raids with Dialga, Regidrago, Rayquaza, and others. Especially players who are coming back for this giant event will certainly be glad to catch so many Legendary Pokémon that they might still be missing.
However, one also has to see the other side: Mega Mewtwo is most exciting for players who have caught everything else and especially want to take on the new boss in the ring.
Whoever wants to catch Mega Mewtwo must definitely plan: It’s best to defeat the monster by joining large groups that can be found via Campfire, at least when you’re in places that have an active community.
