Pokémon GO: Special Research “A Thunderous Discovery” – How to Obtain Zeraora

In Pokémon GO you can now obtain Zeraora through a special research. MeinMMO shows you what you need to do.

What is this special research? The special research “A Thunderous Discovery” is part of the global GO Fest 2026. To receive it and catch Zeraora, you just need to open the game during the GO Fest. If you have previously received a Zeraora from a local edition of the GO Fest, you will receive candy for the monster here.

Special Research “A Thunderous Discovery” (1/8)

Stage Reward: Additionally, for the first step of the research, you will receive 1 Star Piece, 6 Nanab Berries, and 1 Lure Module.

Walk 1 km	26 Poké Balls
Use 10 Berries while catching Pokémon	Encounter with Pamo
Catch 15 different Pokémon	2,026 Stardust

Stage Reward: Once you complete the stage, you will receive 1 Incense, 2,026 Stardust, and an encounter with Zapplardin.

Stage Reward: You will receive 6 GO Fest Stickers featuring Mewtwo, 1 Egg Incubator, and 2,026 Experience Points once you have completed the step.

Stage Reward: You will additionally receive 2,026 Experience Points, 26 Ultra Balls, and 2 Premium Raid Passes.

Stage Reward: Once you have completed this step, you will also receive 2,025 Experience Points, 2 Super Incubators, and 2,026 Stardust.

Send a Gift to a Friend	2,026 Experience Points

Stage Reward: For the final step of the research, you will also receive 3 XL Rare Candies, 6 XL Candies for Zeraora, and a pair of sunglasses for your avatar styled like Pokéballs.

You do not have a time limit to complete the research and catch Zeraora. And you should definitely have the monster on your team. Because it is not only a unique, mysterious Pokémon but also a really strong attacker: How strong is Zeraora in Pokémon GO.
