In Pokémon GO, the raid weekend with Latias and Latios is now live. We show you the best counters, shinies, and how to make the most of the event.
When does the event run? The event with Latias and Latios is already active in Pokémon GO. It started on Friday, June 12th, at 8:00 AM. You can really take advantage of it over the weekend and also on Monday.
The end of the event is Monday, June 15th, at 10:00 PM German time.
What’s happening? The Eon Pokémon Latias and Latios have temporarily returned to Pokémon GO for this event. They will appear during the event time in level 5 raids. You can recognize these raids by the purple/black eggs above the gyms.

Tips for the raid weekend starting June 12th
What’s happening? The legendary raids in Pokémon GO have been enhanced by Latias and Latios. However, you will still find raids of other difficulty levels as well. Additionally, level 5 raids are typically not exclusively featuring Latias and Latios. Reshiram will also be spawning.

Use these tips: If you want to battle many Pokémon, you should coordinate best with other players.
- Before you head out, you should assemble your battle teams. This will save you a lot of time during the raids
- Talk to other players in the area about which Pokémon they want to battle and team up with those who want to battle the same Pokémon as you
- Use local groups on Facebook or in messengers to report the raids. This increases your chances of finding teammates
- Players in rural areas that see few gyms nearby should capture as many gyms as possible on the go. This way, you can also play from home by remote raid
The best counters against Latias and Latios 2020
Which types counter well? Latias and Latios are both Dragon and Psychic types. Therefore, they are particularly vulnerable to attackers of Ice, Dragon, Fairy, Dark, Ghost, and Bug types. This gives you a lot of freedom when assembling your counter teams.

How many players do you need?
- Latias: If you are fighting Latias, you will need 3 players even with weather boost. For a quick and safe victory, groups of 4 or more players are best.
- Latios: With wind, you can defeat Latios with 2 players. If the weather does not cooperate, you will need more players. We also recommend 4 or more players here for a quick win.
Shiny Latias and Shiny Latios
What do the shinies look like? The shiny forms have been unlocked in Pokémon GO for a few months now. In the comparison image, you can see the differences well:
What are the chances of shinies? If you participate in a few legendary raids over the next few days, you have good chances. The probability of Shiny Latias or Shiny Latios is 1 in 19.
Is the raid weekend worth it?
How good is Latias: The dragon Latias is especially attractive for shiny collectors. In battles, it does not stand out particularly due to its weak stats.
How good is Latios: In contrast to Latias, Latios is much more valuable. It is one of the best dragon attackers in Pokémon GO. Although others like Rayquaza are even stronger, you can never have enough strong dragon attackers.
