In Pokémon GO the Retro Cup has started. Do you want to achieve many victories in the new battle league mode? Then choose the right Pokémon.
What kind of cup is this? The Retro Cup has specific rules for selecting your Pokémon.
- Only Pokémon under 1,500 CP are allowed
- Dark types are banned
- Steel types are banned
- Fairy types are banned
All other monsters are allowed.
Why is PvP worth it right now? The Retro Cup started on January 13, 2026, at 10:00 PM. It runs until January 20. The interesting part: You will earn four times the Stardust for victories in this league during this period. This also applies to the Master League, but Retro Cup monsters with low CP requirements are easier to build. You can find tips for the battle league here.
In the following list, we will show you some Pokémon that are worth using in the Retro Cup. To do this, we consulted the ratings from the portal PvPoke, which are based on simulated matchups. IMPORTANT: We are omitting certain legendary monsters here, as they are not so easy to find. So for starters:
- Regidrago is currently one of the best monsters in the cup
- And Cresselia is still a good monster in the cup
