In Path of Exile 2 since the start of the current season, there is a new trading system that is also supposed to protect against fraudsters. Now the community has uncovered a new fraud scheme.
What kind of scheme is this? A new fraud scheme for Path of Exile 2 is currently being discussed on Reddit. There, pandahands69 explains that there are accounts on YouTube that manipulate item prices in the game.
For this, they first select items that are rare but not particularly expensive. They then buy a lot of them. These players then create build videos on YouTube that use these rare items. They often present these items as essential, at least recommending them for their builds.
When players want to replicate the build, they post the rare items in the auction house for much higher prices and earn a lot of money. They can then sell the money they earned on third-party platforms and thus earn real cash.

No large accounts needed
Why does this work? The creators of these guides usually do not have large subscriber counts on YouTube. Nevertheless, their guides reach thousands of players, enough to make the trick profitable.
While large YouTube creators focus on the best guides in the game, these types of players use the platform for their own profit and often do not place much value on the quality of the videos.
However, especially beginners are susceptible to falling for the fraudster guides because they cannot easily distinguish which items are truly important and which are just there to earn money for the fraudsters.
Does the new trading system help? The new trading system in Path of Exile 2 has been providing new asynchronous trading between players since the current season. Thus, many of the known fraud schemes can be prevented by the new auction house because they have relied on players’ inattention.
The new scheme, however, is not really punishable because players voluntarily buy the items and also get what they want. But the exorbitant prices and the fact that players are deliberately not being presented with the best build but one that can make money, does not make this less reprehensible.
Trading in Path of Exile 2 always carries risks. While the new trading system has made many of the old tricks useless, the crooks are finding new ways to con unsuspecting players.
