A Reddit user has installed a total of 22 Noctua fans in his gaming PC. The costly investment ensures cool temperatures while exciting the community.
Good cooling in a gaming PC is crucial for a stable running system. Especially under load, when the processor and graphics card are both demanding, sufficient airflow in the case must be present. If the graphics card then only achieves a few FPS, it may have another cause.
A player has put in a lot of effort and installed a total of 22 fans in his computer. Alone, 18 units are responsible for the airflow in the case. It is questionable whether he is exceeding his financial target.
22 expensive luxury fans in a gaming PC – player calls it ‘Noctua Trophy Case’
What kind of fans are these? The Reddit user bridgeportstuff has built a gaming PC with a total of 22 Noctua fans. In a post on Reddit, the self-proclaimed Noctua fan showcases the result of his work. Multiple pictures display the impressive number of fans in action.
A single fan costs about 30 Euros. For all fans together, the total exceeds 500 Euros. Some build a complete system for that price. However, the fans for the processor and graphics card are not included in this calculation. These must be considered separately, assuming there is actually a graphics card in the computer.
The community is certainly impressed and comments on the Noctua Trophy Case in a humorous way:
- “The Noctua fans are certainly more expensive than the system.” (Lower-Neck2960 via Reddit)
- “All 22 fans are worth more than my PC.” (Zeus-Like-The-God via Reddit)
Are all fans identical? No, there are some differences. However, the player does not provide exact model details. At least 18 of the total 22 fans are identical and serve as case fans to ensure sufficient cooling inside the case itself.
Two other models are located on the processor cooler. These fans come pre-installed with the cooler. There are also two Noctua units on the graphics card. These models are, however, firmly connected to the cooling structure of the graphics card.
What hardware is still in the system? bridgeportstuff provides only a few details here as well. However, in the comments under his post, he states that the case used is a Thermaltake Core P8.
According to him, the processor used is an Intel Core i7-9700K. This has a base clock of 3.60 GHz. The maximum turbo clock frequency is 4.90 GHz. At idle, its temperature ranges from 30 to 40 degrees. Under load, the values lie between 60 and 80 degrees (via buildcomputers.net).
No details are available for the graphics card. From the pictures, it can only be concluded that it is a model from Asus. Only the Nvidia RTX 3070, 3080, and 4080 come into play as a variant with factory-installed Noctua fans.
How well do 22 fans cool? In the comments on his post, questions about the temperature development in his gaming PC are raised. To this, the Noctua fan provides the following information:
At idle:
- CPU: 23 degrees
- Mainboard: 24 degrees
- Graphics card: 26 degrees
Under load (benchmark):
- CPU: 63 degrees
Measurement directly after the benchmark:
- CPU: 29 degrees
- Mainboard: 25 degrees
- Graphics card: 30 degrees
The temperatures seem to be generally very low. However, his statements should also be taken with caution. Compared to the already mentioned manufacturer specifications, the values for the processor are quite realistic. If he forgot a small detail, he might reach up to 100 degrees.
Furthermore, the temperatures can still be influenced by other factors not further discussed in the post. For example, it is unclear whether the measurements were taken with the case open or closed. The fan speed also remains unknown.
The Noctua Trophy Case PC shines in its interior with a tidy cable management. Unfortunately, it can also be different, as this builder shows, whose 17 fans in the computer create a cable chaos: Builders are outraged: Gamer has 17 fans in his PC, but avoids proper cabling
