With the new Horadric Cube in Diablo 4, you can craft not only powerful equipment but also mighty gems. A player has disassembled these and warns the community about it.
What is the deal with the gems? Lord of Hatred has brought numerous innovations to the game, including the Horadric Cube as a powerful crafting tool. With it, you can specifically craft equipment yourself – this also includes two new gem tiers: Horadric and Flawless Horadric.
However, crafting is quite expensive, as you need five large gems for one Horadric gem. Each of them costs a million gem fragments, 300 Forgotten Souls, and ten million gold at the jeweler.
Just gathering the resources for a large gem requires an enormous grind. Disassembling them only gives you back 100,000 fragments instead of 1 million, a player explains on Reddit. The balance for the Horadric gems is actually even worse.
What else does the player warn about? Disassembling Horadric gems simply does not pay off because of the effort involved. If you disassemble one of the new gems, you only receive 100,000 gem fragments back, although five million were invested beforehand. The gold and the Forgotten Souls are completely lost.
With these “remnants,” it is not even possible to reconstruct a single large gem. If you receive a version of the Horadric gem from the cube that you cannot (or no longer) use for your build, you should still not disassemble it – unless you can do without the gem fragments.
In the comments, players also point out that Horadric gems can also drop, although through rare mythic war plans that deliver huge amounts of resources like gold, obols, or even gems. Most people apparently only know the special war plans by hearsay.
