In Pokémon GO there are 3 teams that players can choose from starting at level 5. From that point on, players fight for that team and take over gyms in their name. Until now, players only knew the team leaders as silhouettes and didn’t know what the person behind them looked like.

Meanwhile, the team leaders were introduced at Comic Con. Now players have particularly set their sights on one team.

What makes Team Yellow different?

From the various team mottos, it was clear that Team Yellow approaches the Pokémon world less systematically and relies more on the instincts of Pokémon and their basic abilities. Team Red focuses on strength through training, and Team Blue studies Pokémon and their stats closely. There are various reasons why trainers online post nasty comments and funny pictures against Team Yellow. This was already the case before the revelation of the trainers and has now been amplified – however, now more trainers are showing support for “pro” Team Yellow.

In our survey about team selection in Pokémon GO, many chose a team other than Team Yellow. But what is the cause of the negativity towards the yellow team? In various social networks, Candela (Team Red) is often portrayed as a strong figure with “bite”, Blanche from Team Blue as the brains of the group, and Spark from Team Yellow is frequently depicted as someone who doesn’t take things as seriously as the others.

But it’s not just many users who make fun of Spark. As mentioned, the voices that are now louder supporting Spark and standing by him. Because although he does not train his Pokémon with full intensity or study their stats, he has his own unique bond with his companions.

Conclusion on the teams in Pokémon GO

Wherever players have to choose between different teams, there will always be some friction between them. Which team is the “right” one, no one can currently answer, because it ultimately depends solely on personal taste. If you are in a group, it is often helpful to choose the same team as your friends, so you can take over gyms together. Pointing fingers at each other and saying “Mine is the better team” has shown little effect so far. One could say “The attack is not very effective…”.

Arena maps are visible from far away in Pokémon GO, as the gigantic towers shine in the colors of their teams and attract with great loot. But what is the deal with the arenas and how can you benefit from them? We have put together a compact guide that leaves no questions unanswered.

Into the Arena!

Before you can enter an arena, you must first reach level 5 with your Pokémon Trainer. After that, you go to any arena and register there for a team. The significance of the individual teams is summarized under the previous link. But make sure you are in the same team as your friends, because as a solo player, you will have little fun in the arena.

The Arena Overview

In the screenshot shown here, you can see the values of an arena. Particularly important: The arena level, because this indicates how many creatures can fit into the arena map. The more Pokémon fit, the longer your team can hold the arena. Caution: Each player can only place one Pokémon from their supply into the arena, and this Pokémon cannot be used elsewhere until it flies out of the arena again!

The arena level is determined by the so-called “prestige.” You earn prestige every time you win a battle in a friendly arena. The following list shows how many points you need for each arena level:

• Level 2: 2,000 points
• Level 3: 4,000 points
• Level 4: 8,000 points
• Level 5: 12,000 points
• Level 6: 16,000 points
• Level 7: 20,000 points
• Level 8: 30,000 points
• Level 9: 40,000 points
• Level 10: 50,000 points

How do I conquer an arena?

If you want to take over a hostile arena, you need to reduce its prestige to zero. You do this by winning battles against the defenders, i.e., the Pokémon stationed there by their players. Each victory costs the arena 1,000 prestige points, and as the arena level falls, the weakest Pokémon flies out permanently. In this way, with enough patience, you can gradually wear down a strong arena. However, keep in mind that you need to revive each fainted Pokémon afterward with a reviver and potions. Also, keep in mind that you can attack an arena as a team. This way, you can break through even powerful defenders like a steamroller, and only this way is it effectively possible to crack strong arenas. To start a team attack, you must all hold your Pokémon selection ready and press “Go” at the same time.

What does all this bring?

Arena battles are fun and cool, but what do they actually bring? First of all, you’ll earn tons of experience points for victories in combat, especially if the enemy monster is stronger than your own. And if you manage to occupy an arena, you get 500 stardust and 10 Pokécoins, which are otherwise only available for real money. As soon as the reward for the arena is available, it appears in the shop at the top right in the shield symbol and can be collected there. It is sufficient if you only briefly occupy the arena; you just need to collect the reward in time, because if your Pokémon flies out, your claim to loot is also gone.

Only after 21 hours can you collect rewards from an arena again, and to hold out that long, you should upgrade the arena. For this, it is best to place a rather weak Pokémon in the arena and fight it as often as possible in training battles until your level rises. Your own Pokémon cannot faint during this, and the Pokémon from the arena is fully healed after each battle, so you do not harm your teammates with training battles. Do these training sessions until all your team members have a spot and place your strongest Pokémon in the arena, so you can secure them against enemies.

In Pokémon GO, cool Pokémon can hatch from eggs!

Hatching eggs in Pokémon GO is mostly passive, which is why you might easily forget this feature of the game. You should always ensure that your incubators are filled with eggs so that you can utilize every step to get them to hatch.

Getting Rare Pokémon from Eggs

The various eggs are valuable in Pokémon GO, as rare Pokémon can hatch from them. There are 3 different types of eggs that you can hatch by covering a certain distance. To start hatching, you place the eggs in an incubator and walk a distance of 2km, 5km, or even 10km. Here you can read which Pokémon can hatch from the different eggs.

You should therefore ensure that you always have your incubators filled with an egg. If you run out of incubators, you can get an incubator by leveling up in Pokémon GO. To be successful in hatching, you should walk in a straight line instead of in circles. The distance calculation in Pokémon GO has some small errors, which is why measuring accurately on a straight path is usually more successful than on paths with many curves.

If you still don’t want to walk, you can let your creativity run free. But be careful: Taking your phone in the car and hatching eggs while driving on the highway won’t work. Only up to a speed of about 20 km/h does the distance counted towards hatching. So, a leisurely bike ride or brisk walking are promising alternatives for hatching.

However, hatching can still work with some cars.
