The MMORPG EverQuest was released on March 16, 1999, and thus celebrates its 20th birthday tomorrow. Executive Producer Holly Longdale spoke with PCGamer about the long success story and what makes the game special.
How successful is EverQuest today? That EverQuest is still successful is evident from the now five Progression Servers. These are servers that start in the original form of 1999 and are gradually patched. Something similar is planned by WoW with the Classic Servers.
When the first Progression Server launched in 2015, the demand was so great that it crashed. A few days later, a second server was set up and it also collapsed.
Higher player numbers than in 2015: Longdale reports that player numbers and revenue have increased since the introduction of the Progression Servers. Currently, EverQuest has more players than in 2015.

What makes EverQuest so special
Although the game looks dated, it is still popular today. Longdale states that the focus has always been on the current fans.
The community among players is better: The camaraderie among players is said to be something very special. EverQuest was designed from the beginning for players to play together, coordinate, and solve tasks together.
This led to a situation where it mattered if fellow players died in the game. Communities developed in the game that played together for many years.
Longdale mentions in the interview that mechanics like kiting were never intended. However, there was still the possibility for players to go solo. For most content, however, you need a group.
Parents and children play together: EverQuest has a relatively old community. Accordingly, there are many stories about how parents started playing EverQuest as children and how their children now play the game too.
What about new players? EverQuest doesn’t really focus on new players. The game is too outdated for that.
Instead, they are trying to bring back old players and engage the current hardcore fans. That’s why there are also the Progression Servers, which bring a lot of nostalgia.
What is EverQuest planning for the future?
The game stays true to itself: For the future, they want to continue to develop but not lose their identity. According to Longdale, they have learned that players are sensitive to changes like raids and new items.
That’s why they consciously avoid a revamp to the game’s entry, like what was done with Star Wars Galaxies. Many players left the MMO due to this change.
Currently, the studio Daybreak has no plans to end EverQuest, and it seems profitable to continue developing the game and opening new Progression Servers.
Every week, the Team of the Week appears in FIFA 19. But what is the TOTW worth in light of all the events?
This is the Team of the Week: The Team of the Week has been a part of FIFA Ultimate Team for years. Every Wednesday, a new team is released, featuring players who performed exceptionally well in real football, celebrated with a boosted special card.
These cards are usually worth significantly more than the standard version of the player.
In recent years, most FIFA players have been chasing after the TOTW cards. However, in FIFA 19, the situation seems somewhat different compared to previous installments of the series.
TOTW “almost obsolete”?
What has changed: While the Team of the Week players used to be the highlight of a FIFA week, especially since the end of last year, there have been almost weekly new events that release special cards.
To what extent can the Teams of the Week still compete?
They all brought special cards that were only loosely based on reality. Especially the Future Stars with talented cards broke the upper limit: All of them had top stats, even though some had played very few games in real football.
The Carniball event also introduced highly rated players that could be easily unlocked through SBCs or weekly objectives.

What these events mean for the TOTW: A discussion about the value of the TOTW has erupted in the FIFA subreddit. It is not just about the pure coin value, but rather the gameplay value. Many ask themselves: What good is the TOTW to me currently? A Redditor ranks the Team of the Week as “almost obsolete” – and gains some support.
Because: Most TOTW cards hardly match the event cards flooding FUT 19.
An example from the Bundesliga: The current top three left wingers are as follows according to ratings. In first place is the Champions League card of Marco Reus with a rating of 89, followed by the Carniball card of Ribery (89) and third is Future Star Alphonso Davies.

For info: Davies has made only four short appearances for Bayern Munich in the current Bundesliga season. Only later in the rankings do the TOTW-Ribery and Coman cards appear, which can keep up with the two event cards.
Top cards beyond reality
FIFA fans miss the “special”: On reddit, players remember: In the past, one would raise an eyebrow and sit up straight when encountering an opponent with black Inform cards online. In FIFA 19, rainbow teams with event cards of all shapes and colors are the norm. This is also due to the number of top players.
For comparison: When FIFA 17 ended, there were a total of 257 cards that achieved a rating of 90 or higher. In FIFA 18, which introduced Icon cards for all versions, there were 461 in total.
At present, FIFA 19 has 272 cards with a rating of 90 or higher. Given that the game has only been out for just under six months and brings significantly more event cards, it can be expected that the number of top cards will increase compared to FIFA 18.
FIFA 19: Teams are more colorful than ever before
TOTW cards seem almost normal now – or are even only stored in the club to be exchanged in an event SBC against stronger players.
On Reddit, this is seen as a double-edged sword: The new events offer the opportunity to integrate many new players into one’s team – after all, Davies’ standard silver card with a 72 rating would hardly hold its own in any Ultimate Team – but at the same time, the TOTW cards fade into the background.
It is precisely these cards that best represent real football in FUT 19.
The Invitations of the Nine, the new feature from Xur, will only be introduced on March 15th at Destiny 2. However, some players have already been able to try these new bounties.
What are the Invitations of the Nine? For all owners of the Annual Pass, a new feature of the Season 6 goes live today – The Invitations of the Nine, formerly known as Xur’s bounties. These involve new content that deals with the mysterious group “The Nine” and aims to shed more light on them.
So far, not much is known about the Nine. Aside from numerous mentions in the lore of Destiny, the Guardians have only interacted with their agent Xur and their emissary at the Trials of the Nine or in the Queen’s Court.

How have the Invitations of the Nine already been played? Actually, this feature is supposed to go live today, on March 15th. However, due to a bug, some players were already able to complete Xur’s new quest.
Just before the Weekly Reset on March 12th, some Guardians were still with Xur looking through his offerings. When the reset occurred, Xur was still briefly available if you were in his menu at that moment.
While the Exotics disappeared from his inventory, a quest for the Invitation of the Nine appeared at the same time. This could already be accepted.
What is behind the Invitations of the Nine? These are a type of bounties that are story-driven and can be undertaken week by week. In total, there are apparently nine of them.
You receive them from Xur. These bounties require you to complete various tasks that are not very complicated and can be mastered relatively quickly.
As the first reports and videos show, you will be rewarded with a lot of exciting lore throughout their duration, as well as a powerful reward at the end. Random legendary and even exotic items seem to be possible here.
The lore is told, for example, through encounters with the Emissary of the Nine in the Unknown Space or through completely new cutscenes featuring the Drifter and other characters from the Destiny universe.
The exact number of extensive cutscenes is currently unknown. However, fans claim to have discovered at least three based on the first leaked scene and the existing promo material.

A developer of The Division 2 has answered the important question of how the Gear Score of loot drops depends on your items. This is what you need to know to ensure that higher quality gear drops for you.
The question at hand: In the endgame of The Division 2, it is necessary to rise in the world rankings, earn the best loot, and optimize your build. In doing so, you need to raise your Gear Score to conquer the toughest challenges.
The Gear Score is the endgame progression system after you have reached the maximum character level 30. The higher you push your Gear Score, the stronger you are in general.
This raises the question of how increasing your Gear Score interacts with loot drops.
Do I always need to equip my items with the highest Gear Score so the game recognizes that I want loot that exceeds this Gear Score? Does this force me to wear my highest-value items even if they don’t fit my build?
Is it enough if I store my highest-value items in my inventory or stash so that the game grants me higher-quality loot?
Or can I even safely deconstruct my highest-value items after obtaining them, and the game knows: “The agent already had items at this Gear Score”?

Keep your top gear, but you don’t have to equip it
This is what you need to know about Gear Score progression: The Senior Game Designer of Massive, Nikki Kuppens, has now answered this important question via Twitter.
The middle question from above is correct: The Gear Score for loot drops is based on the maximum achievable Gear Score of all the items you have in your possession. The items in your stash are included.
He recommends: Simply keep your items with higher Gear Score. You do not have to equip them, and you will still receive better loot drops.
Keep in mind that the maximum possible Gear Score from loot drops depends on your world rank. Kuppens mentions, for example, that 450 is the maximum Gear Score at world rank 4. Loot drops at world rank 4 will never be higher than 450.
However, you can easily exceed this limit through performance containers and recalibration. Some users report that they have 451 Gear Score at world rank 4.

Important additions to Gear Score:
For the Gear Score of loot drops, the maximum possible Gear Score that you can achieve with your items is calculated. Not the average Gear Score. Therefore, you do not need to deconstruct your lower-value items to get the best gear.
If you want to enter an activity with a Gear Score minimum requirement, your actual Gear Score (that you see in the UI) counts – that is, the one calculated from the Gear Scores of your equipped items.
The maximum achievable Gear Score from all your items that is crucial for loot drops is not displayed anywhere in the game.
How the community reacts: In the comments and on reddit, this system is received very well. Because you are not forced to discard your build for each better loot drop. This is seen as a great decision by the developers.

To obtain the Platinum Trophy, you must complete all story missions and side quests, as well as find numerous collectibles and complete challenges.

Throughout the campaign, you must choose between the Arcanist Matthias and Sentinel Brin. Here’s how to easily get the weapon achievements:
For each weapon class in Anthem, there are three representatives. If you collect all three Assault Rifles found in the game, you can get 50 kills with each of them and you’ll have completed the three challenges and earned the Assault Rifle trophy. The same applies to all other weapon classes.
For these achievements, you need to complete four World Events with a specific ability to finish the respective challenge. You can equip three abilities per Javelin. Thus, after completing four World Events, you can switch your entire gear and repeat the process to complete the 12 challenges needed for the trophies in just a few free play sessions.
To achieve the Platinum Trophy, you must own all Javelins and all abilities.
Rarity Achievements
These achievements focus on the rarity tier of your Javelin. This is dependent on your power level, i.e., your equipment. You can see what rarity your Javelin currently possesses in the Forge at the upper right corner of the screen.
If the overall level of your Javelin matches the required rarity tier, you simply need to successfully complete any expedition with it and the trophy will be yours. It doesn’t matter whether you complete a mission, a contract, or a stronghold.
Explorer Achievements

This way, you can target your progress with different farming routes or keep dying after you pick up an object.

This is what you need to know about Runes and Documents:
The 80 Runes and the 80 Mederine Documents will be shown to you in the Cortex in three stages. For the first challenge stage, you need to find 10 collectibles each; then it increases to 20 and finally to 50. In total, you need to find 80 collectibles each to unlock the achievement “Turned Over Every Stone.”
This is how you find the Runes:
These collectibles are generally easy to find. As you play through the game, if you collect all the ones you see, you should have a decent amount of them by the time you hit max pilot level.
The glowing runes can be found everywhere on floors, walls, and rocks.
Tip: Once you’ve collected around 50, you can also create a new pilot and start over. The documents and runes appear separately for each character, but only after you have completed the associated missions from Matthias.
Pay attention to the color of the runes. Some are yellow, while others are green. Only the yellow ones increase your progress; you can farm these with your new pilot. If a rune doesn’t give additional progress, it’s a green rune.

These collectibles are found in abundance on the walls of Fort Tarsis, in the area where you start your expedition in Freeplay. It’s also advisable to create a new pilot and collect the documents around Fort Tarsis again if you want to get the achievement as quickly as possible.

The next addon for Blizzard’s card game Hearthstone will actually revolve around supervillains. The expansion is called Rise of Shadows and we already know some of the cards, as well as the contents and release date.
What is Rise of Shadows? This is the new addon for Hearthstone. As previously confirmed, it focuses on the 5 villains:

The first villainous act is likely to be an attack on the city of Dalaran. In this, the supervillains will face the defenders of Dalaran, who have not been revealed yet.

Also, Multiclick evaluates the usage of PC games. On their list, Astellia even placed 33rd for yesterday, ahead of Tera, ARK, or World of Tanks.
What distinguishes Astellia from other MMORPGs? The special feature of Astellia is the Astells, which give the game its name. These are small, summoned creatures that each player can call upon.
Players can use three Astells simultaneously, regardless of class. These can provide offensive, defensive, or crowd control enhancements.

Where should you search? Southeast of the volcano, the star is hidden in the forest at grid square I4. We will show you the landing point on the map.
The star is located outside on the stairs leading up to the shrine. You can either land directly there or quickly build up with a stair.

Black Desert Online had not many areas at launch, but a thick new territory called Mediah has already been added. And that just 10 days after launch.
What’s new in Black Desert Online? The Korean sandbox MMORPG Black Desert Online was released on March 4, 2019, on Xbox One. But just under 10 days later, the first big content update comes. The Mediah region significantly expands the game world and introduces a new desert region.
PC players had to wait months for this update at the launch of the game. The Xbox version seems to be faster, and console players don’t have to wait months for new content.
The content of the Mediah update

Monster Hunter World was received exceptionally well by German PC gamers. It was so well received that the PC became the second most successful platform for the game.
What do we know about the success? The British marketing director of Capcom, Antoine Molant, spoke with PCGamesInsider.biz about the development of the game.

In Fortnite: Battle Royale, the “High Stakes” event has surprisingly started today. In English, it’s called High Stakes. We will show you the challenges and their rewards.
What kind of event is this? On March 14th, High Stakes started in Fortnite. You now have 5 days to complete various challenges and secure some cool loot.
What loot is available? You can earn a crowbar as a harvesting tool, a spray pattern with winner colors, and other cosmetic rewards.

What is Getaway – the heist mode?
Will the mode be permanent? The new mode will only be available in Fortnite for a limited time before it disappears indefinitely.

Players Demand Content Instead of Improvements
In the official forum, however, the atmosphere is currently tense compared to Reddit. Players there are vehemently demanding new content and are not satisfied with the small improvements.
No story content in sight: The last major patch was released on December 12, 2018. In “Siege of the Jedi“, the war between the Empire and the Republic was once again the focus.
Since then, only a small patch has brought one single boss into the game.
There is no roadmap for 2019, while players are eagerly awaiting new story content. The only hope currently seems to be the Star Wars Celebration in April, which the developers of the game are set to attend.

In Anthem, there are three factions where you can increase your reputation through various actions. This way, you will rise in loyalty with the factions and unlock the challenge Champion of Tarsis.

To complete this challenge, you need to reach 50,000 reputation for each faction. In total, you have to earn 150,000 loyalty points.
As a reward, you will receive several blueprints in Masterwork quality, the cosmetic metal Gold for your Javelin, and 2000 coins for the Anthem cash shop.

In Anthem, you can perform various actions that earn you loyalty points with the three factions. Alongside quests and tasks, these are activities you can complete while playing.
Missions and Quests
Completing quests or missions for a faction greatly increases your standing with them. Some quests are already available to you during the campaign.
You can also accept quests from the respective contacts. This will lead you through the storylines of the individual factions, which are necessary to unlock legendary contracts.
Legendary contracts give you the chance for higher-quality loot and additional reputation for the factions in the endgame.

Visit 2 locations in a match
How to complete the task: This well-known task type requires you to visit two locations in the same match. This is especially manageable when playing in a respawn mode, as you won’t be eliminated immediately and can glide again after respawning.
The individual phases of the task are:
Phase 1: Visit Fatal Fields and Salty Springs in a match
Phase 2: Visit Haunted Hills and Tilted Towers in a match
Phase 3: Visit Frosty Flights and Loot Lake in a match
Phase 4: Visit Lucky Landing and Retail Row in a match
Phase 5: Visit Snobby Shores and Tomato Temple in a match
Destroy cacti in the desert
How to complete the task: You can find cacti as previously described in the desert biome. The phases are as follows:
Phase 1: Destroy 30 cacti in the desert
Phase 2: Search 7 ammo boxes in the snowy landscape
Phase 3: Search 5 chests in the jungle
Place 2 different trap items during a match
How to complete the task: For this task, you need to set up 2 traps in a round. This includes items that occupy the trap slot, such as bounce pads and similar.
Search where the magnifying glass is located on the treasure map in the loading screen (Battle Pass only)
Eliminate opponents with a submachine gun, a pistol, and a sniper rifle (Battle Pass only)
How to complete the task: The trick here is that you must achieve kills with each of the mentioned weapons. However, not in the same match. Ideally, use a mode with respawn, as you can rack up many kills and easily achieve the desired variance in a round.
Search 7 chests at Sunny Steps or Fatal Fields (Battle Pass only)
How to complete the task: This task is easy to solve, but you might need some patience, as many players are likely to search the chests at the beginning of Week 3.
Deal headshot damage to opponents (Battle Pass only)
How to complete the task: You need to deal a total of 500 points of damage through headshots. This is especially easy with shotguns, as you always seem to hit the head.
After several weeks of testing on the PTR, the new hero Baptiste now has a release date for Overwatch. On March 19, the new healer hybrid will be playable on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and may bring changes to the game.
This is what Baptiste can do: His abilities and attacks consist of offensive and supportive skills. As a hybrid, he can deal damage well, amplify damage, and also heal:
The Biotic Launcher (Weapon) fires in 3-shot bursts and throws healing grenades in alternate fire
The Regenerative Burst heals Baptiste and nearby allies
With the Immortality Field, Baptiste protects allies and himself from death
with the Jump Jets, Baptiste jumps higher the longer he crouches
the Amplification Matrix (Ultimate) amplifies all damage and healing projectiles from allies that pass through it
Will Baptiste change the meta? With his abilities, Baptiste occupies a unique position in the current tank and healer meta of Overwatch. The currently strongest composition consists only of three healers and three tanks. DPS are almost completely ignored.
Baptiste could free Overwatch from this GOATS meta by negating the core of GOATS, the battles with Zarya’s Graviton Bomb, with his Immortality Field. However, professionals are still not quite sure if this will work.
Who is Baptiste anyway? A particularity about Baptiste was that Blizzard released his backstory before other information about him. Lore fans are likely to be particularly excited about Baptiste.
The medic was one of the victims of the Omnic War, where he lost his parents. He became a part of Talon until he realized that the organization’s goals were not his own.
