Larian has shown the “companies and suits” what is possible without cramming everything with microtransactions. Other users respond to this and state: One should not forget that the game also comes without DRMs.

Due to the quality like that of Larian, CD Projekt Red (Cyberpunk, The Witcher), or Warhorse (Kingdom Come: Deliverance), one can show Ubisoft, EA, and others how it should be done properly. Vincke himself has harshly criticized the practices of large studios in the past.

Whether the “lesson” will really reach AAA remains to be seen. The former story chief of Dragon Age at least believes: The industry will learn nothing from Baldur’s Gate 3. This view is shared by other users – however, there are also plenty of suggestions for the future.

Swen Vincke is not revealing many details about the upcoming games from Larian yet. It is only said: We have to be patient, it will take a little more time to get everything running. “It will be worth it,” Vincke promises.

In the comments, alongside praise for Baldur’s Gate 3, there is some criticism as well, albeit at the highest level. One of them actually relates to too much freedom, specifically: to love.

In Baldur’s Gate 3, all companions are “player sexual”, meaning: No matter what gender or race you play, every companion is attracted to you when you flirt with them. Romances are always possible.

Now a user writes on X that he wishes for restrictions regarding this aspect in the next game. That would make sex “more meaningful.” In Baldur’s Gate 3, you are always treated the same, no matter who you are. That does not seem very credible.
