Astellia: What can the first and perhaps only major MMORPG of 2019 do?

Still in the tutorial, I learn more about the story and also about the special traits of me and my sister. However, I don’t want to reveal too much about the story to you.

The Quest Wheel Has Not Been Reinvented

What are the quests like? The quest system in Astellia is not the game’s strength, in my opinion. Generally, they are quite average.

Run here and there, defeat certain enemies, and collect various items. So basic quests, but at least with clear markers on the map.

What I like about the quests: In my view, the quest system is also very fair. I leveled up to level 18 alone and did not encounter a quest that required me to invest an excessive amount of time.

The first eight levels are even quite fun because I could feel the progress well. After that, it became a bit monotonous.

However, the quest system has one significant drawback for me that is unrelated to its structure.

What I don’t like about the quests: I learned from Guild Wars 2 how wonderful playing together can be, even when not in a group. However, Astellia does not utilize this system.

So it still holds true the old rule: First come, first served. Whoever attacks the mob first gets the kill and the loot. This problem can only be avoided by forming a group.

In my opinion, a quest system like this is no longer really contemporary.

Is there Auto-Run? The tutorial already explains how to best handle quests. I simply click on the right side and activate auto-run.

This works well in Astellia, even if sometimes there are noticeable detours. However, I have not been stuck so far.

Fights Are Not Dynamic but Skill-Rich

How does Astellia’s combat system work? In the beta test, I have only tried the Archer and the Warrior so far. Astellia relies on tab-targeting, but also on dynamic fights.

There is an evasion roll that I must use to avoid especially strong attacks from bosses. The evasion roll automatically interrupts all previous actions and has a cooldown of three seconds.

Personally, I find this roll a bit slow and it indirectly takes away some dynamism. In terms of gameplay flow, it cannot be compared to the evasion roll from Guild Wars 2.

I can use most skills of my two played classes even while moving, which is a significant plus. The number of skills is large and there are many different skill bars available, which should appeal to players of World of Warcraft.

What are Astels? The Astels are small companions that I can summon up to three at the same time, taking on roles such as healing, tanking, or dealing damage.

I can keep one Astel active permanently without experiencing any restrictions. Up to three Astels are possible at the same time, but the bar with AP empties faster then. This can be very confusing at first because there is no clear explanation.

Are the Astels a cool innovation? In my opinion, the Astels provide a cool addition to my own playstyle. In the beta, I had access to only six of the 33 possible Astels, but these were enough to rotate and experiment.

Especially in the open world, healer and tank Astels are extremely useful, especially when playing as DPS. In dungeons, DDs and additional healers are highly sought after.

What Awaits You in Astellia’s Endgame

The legendary dungeons: To get a first feel for legendary dungeons, the developers of Astellia included an NPC who immediately set me to level 50 and gave me legendary equipment.

After completing a solo dungeon, the five legendary dungeons were unlocked for me. After a short group search, we ventured into the adventure with a tank, a healer, a mage, and me as an archer.

Even the first trash mobs were tiring because they lived so long. This is also a small issue in the open world as you level up.

We reached the first boss after a few wipes, but the fight was completely hopeless. Apparently, we first had to upgrade and improve our equipment and skills. However, both failed due to the needed materials.

I had no problem with dungeon tickets, which were strongly criticized in advance. I received them faster than I could spend them.

The crafting: A significant part of the endgame is supposed to be the crafting, which allows you to create legendary equipment. The system is quite simple:

  • There are eight professions that you can learn with one character.
  • In addition, there are five gathering professions (mining, lumberjack, etc.) of which you can learn only two.
  • Through the professions, you can obtain not only equipment but also jewels and runes for upgrades, potions, and buff food.

A thorough testing on my part also fails here due to materials that must first be collected.

The PvP: My experiences with PvP are limited. I have had several duels in the open world and mostly lost. In the Duel Arena, I registered for a solo match, which, however, never started even after almost 50 minutes of waiting.

There is a leaderboard where you can see the best players and their ratings. However, I do not know how they started their matches.

Also, the area Avalon has not opened up to me in the test yet. There are three factions, and apparently, you assign yourself to a faction through the guild. After that, you can fight on the map, but I did not encounter any opponent while riding across the map for 20 minutes.

Good MMORPG Without Huge Innovations

Can Astellia Quench the Hunger for a New Theme Park MMORPG? In about 12 hours of playtime, I have experienced a lot in Astellia. I leveled up, visited dungeons, and at least briefly sniffed into all areas of the game. And I’m satisfied.

Astellia leaves a good impression, plays very smoothly and almost without hiccups for North American servers and a beta test. Highlights are definitely the character editor, the Astels, the early mount, and also the story, which gets off to a good start.

However, I was relatively indifferent to the quests and the graphics. I find both decent but not overly positive. I also have mixed feelings about the combat system.

While it is not bad and has dynamic elements, both Guild Wars 2 and Black Desert Online impress me more in this regard. However, those who do not want to be constantly on the move and jumping from A to B will certainly feel comfortable in Astellia.

Astellia Quest Area Forest Screenshot

It’s definitely too early for conclusions about dungeons, crafting, and PvP. Regarding the item shop and possible Pay2Win, we will learn more in the second closed beta. Astellia has already announced this.

All in all, Astellia seems solid and meets all the important features for a good, but not great MMORPG. The goal of orienting itself towards more traditional theme park MMOs is upheld by Astellia, although this also comes with very monotonous quests.

Also, when it comes to stealing quest mobs and the combat system, Astellia relies on old, though not necessarily positive, values. However, those who can make compromises in these areas and like the graphic style may well enjoy Astellia.

If you are not only interested in Astellia, here are other MMORPGs to look forward to in 2019:

Nearly a week ran the first Closed Beta for the Asia MMORPG Astellia. Our author Alexander has played this extensively and wants to share his conclusion with you here.

What is Astellia? Astellia is a Buy-to-Play MMORPG from Studio 8 and Barunson E&A. It was released back in December 2018 in South Korea and was quite successful there for several months. Currently, it ranks 68th among the most played games according to Multiclick.

The Asia MMO offers you five different classes and features the Astels as a unique aspect. Otherwise, it aims to align itself more with traditional theme park MMOs and present them in a new guise.

In the endgame, it relies on legendary dungeons, PvP arenas, and the area Avalon, which is said to be comparable to the World vs. World from Guild Wars 2.

When is Astellia supposed to be released? The release is currently scheduled for the third quarter of 2019. Until then, there will be at least one more beta test.

Currently, Astellia is even the only major MMORPG we can confidently say will come out this year and even relatively soon. Can Astellia quench the thirst of MMORPG fans looking for a good new theme park MMO and also capitalize on it – or will the game meet the same fate as Bless?

Many Options for Character Creation

What can the character editor do? As is common with many Asian MMORPGs, the character editor in Astellia offers a wide range of options for character customization.

After choosing a class, where there is a gender lock in the beta, I have the option to use one of 20 pre-made presets or customize every detail myself.

No matter if eyes, nose, or mouth, I can express myself even in the smallest details. I was particularly impressed by the 20 different pupils with 25 different colors each. There are also 58 different skin tones, with differences so subtle that I hardly noticed them.

With such a large selection, one thing must not be missing: the save function. And Astellia has thought of that too. There seems to be no restrictions either. During testing, I made over 150 saves.

Character Editor with many details

Good but Not Outstanding Graphics

Can Astellia’s graphics impress? The game starts with a cutscene introducing the Astel Rota. This video looks extremely beautiful but does not reflect the in-game graphics, as I would quickly find out.

The graphics of the game are certainly well done, but no real standout. It’s a positive aspect that content from areas is not reloaded and suddenly appears, but are already clearly visible from a distance.

I also find the effects in the game pleasant. They are clear and not too overloaded, as is the case in some other MMORPGs. Instances with four players therefore never felt overwhelming.

However, I noticed a negative blurring effect (Blur). Even on low settings, I could never completely get rid of it.

Early Mount and Early Action

What happens at the start of the game? After character creation, it goes into a kind of tutorial. I start by learning the controls and a brief introduction to combat.

After the first movements and the combat arena, Astellia already gives me a mount so that I do not have to walk too long during the tutorial. But before I could really pick up speed with it, demons were already attacking my little sister Fey.

I arrive too late, but luckily my first Astel Rota appears and attacks the enemy. Together we succeed in rescuing my sister Fey, who is now safe.

Especially in the open world, healer and tank Astels are extremely useful, especially when playing as DPS. In dungeons, DDs and additional healers are highly sought after.

Still in the tutorial, I learn more about the story and also about the special traits of me and my sister. However, I don’t want to reveal too much about the story to you.

This demon wants to deal with us in the tutorial

Astellia Quest Area Screenshot
A view of the landscape of Astellia

A character and their three Astels

The 5 classes in the Astellia editor

Screenshot while questing

WoW simplifies your daily quests in Nazjatar and Mechagon

Many players in WoW have some issues with their daily quests. Blizzard intervenes and simplifies especially the tasks related to rare enemies.

A few hotfixes have significantly eased several tasks in Nazjatar, the new area in World of Warcraft. Those struggling to find rare enemies can now breathe a sigh of relief. They now have more health points and are easier to distinguish.

What has changed? One of the daily missions required players to find and kill a total of 3 rare enemies in Nazjatar. However, as the enemies actually appear very rarely, this could often take several hours. Now, for the quest, it is only necessary to find and kill a single rare foe.

WoW Nazjatar Naga
Those looking for rare enemies often have to wander through the wilderness for minutes.

Rare spawns have more health points: At the same time, Blizzard has increased the health points of some rare spawns that previously had too few. Players often saw the promising star flash on the mini-map, but the enemy was already dead before they could reach it. Now it should be easier to at least land a hit on the enemy before it dies. Additionally, the health points of rare spawns now scale faster with the number of players attacking them. This also increases their lifespan by a few seconds. This affects most rare spawns in Mechagon and Nazjatar.

Clear identifier for rare enemies: Another problem was that enemies of special elite quests were also marked with a silver dragon, leading players to mistake them for rare spawns. This was not the case and caused confusion when players then defeated the enemy. Blizzard has now given these enemies the normal “elite” symbol, the golden dragon. Now only rare foes in Nazjatar should have a silver dragon portrait.

Elite Nagas for quests are now clearly distinguishable from rare spawns.

Other quests have also been simplified: Already on the first day of Patch 8.2 Azshara’s Rise, Blizzard simplified a number of quests. The puzzle quests, where one has to play a round of “Bejeweled” to combine matching runes, have been massively simplified. Now you only have to eliminate a certain number of matching runes. Previously, it was necessary to achieve exact combinations – for example, to destroy 5 red runes in one go. This was too difficult for many players.

Do you think it’s good that Blizzard is making the most annoying quests easier? Or should there still be some tougher and more time-consuming tasks in Nazjatar?

League of Legends: “Garbage” – Doublelift criticizes his own LoL league LCS

The LoL pro and Twitch streamer Yilang “Doublelift” Peng struggles with his own league in the League of Legends. The 25-year-old is convinced after Rift Rivals that the LCS is just trash. You can already see that from the many imported mercenaries.

Who is Doublelift? At 25, Doublelift is one of the veterans in League of Legends. He has seen almost everything. He is one of the most well-known LoL players in North America.

He was with Team Solo Mid for many years and has been the ADC of Team Liquid since November 2017. With 1.2 million viewers, Doublelift also has a fairly large Twitch channel.

Double-Lift-LoL
A comic version of Doublelift appeared in the major music videos from Riot Games.

This is how he sees the Rift Rivals: In the recently held showcase match, Rift Rivals, 3 US teams faced off against 3 teams from Europe. Team Liquid looked the best among the US teams. But overall, Rift Rivals was a dismantling for the US teams.

Doublelift says: “It feels good that we performed the best. But every NA team tried their absolute best to win, and every EU team just seemed to play around and still won quite easily or was at least close.”

Doublelift says that this weighs heavily on the morale, but the competition itself is just trash. It is terrible here.

What is the problem? Doublelift sees several issues:

  • On one hand, there are too many imports in NA, almost half of all players actually grew up in other regions.
  • The environment in which players grow up in NA is just bad.

This is how Doublelift sees himself: On a positive note, Doublelift says he is one of the few exceptions in the USA who has what it takes to be a top player in a world championship team. He would have a realistic chance to be a top ADC there. He has similar praise for Jake Kevin “Xmithie” Puchero, the jungler of Team Liquid. Doublelift also sees potential in him.

But the rest of the region needs to work harder, put in more effort, and also get their teammates to try harder.

Doublelift says: “I also admit to streaming Solo Queue with the attitude of ‘I don’t care’ – that’s really not a good mindset.”

Doublelift tells a rather depressing joke that comes from the movie Watchmen.

What’s behind it: Actually, the “US market” is larger than Europe. Many of the well-known Twitch streamers are former US pros – the big entertainers on Twitch like Tyler 1 play in NA. Many European LoL fans also orient themselves more toward the big US teams like “Team Solo Mid.”

However, in practice, the “small league” Europe seems to have surpassed the big leagues for a longer time.

Here you can see once again that “personality” and “image” do not necessarily have to align with actual skills in LoL.

How a perfect round of Apex Legends made me believe in true happiness

Battle Royale games like Apex Legends have particularly captivated our author Jürgen. Read here why Battle Royale is the best genre among online games for him.

I have been in love with the Battle Royale genre since my first moments in PUBG. Since then, I have tried many other BR games and went first to Fortnite and then to Apex Legends, my current favorite Battle Royale game.

And that’s exactly where I experienced once more in a nearly perfect round why the Battle Royale genre is simply one of the best there is in online games right now.

apex-legends-octane-titel-01

Battle Royale can be really frustrating …

This is how the perfect round came about: Every round of Battle Royale is a huge gamble. It can go extremely well, or you can just have bad luck, lousy teammates, or both. Then the round quickly goes down the drain, and you’re left with frustration.

That’s why I actually didn’t want to keep playing on the evening of the perfect round. Currently, I barely have time for private gaming due to my still young fatherhood. At most, I might get 1-2 hours at night after my wife and the little one finally sleep.

Apex Legends Tritt ins Gesicht Titel

Then it’s even more annoying when you find yourself back in the lobby shortly after and haven’t accomplished anything. “Oh, screw it, one more!” was nevertheless my motto, because who knows when I’ll get to play again.

So I quickly started one last round at midnight and hoped for the best.

The perfect round of Battle Royale!

I seriously didn’t expect to have a good round. At that time, I would has been glad if I had made it to mid-game and gotten one or two kills. And indeed, the start was really terrible.

This is how badly the start went: We landed at Skull Town and there was nothing! Not even a shabby Mozambique piece of junk was lying around. Instead, I immediately came under fire after landing because some lousy enemy dog had of course found a weapon and was shooting cheerfully.

apex-top-runde-screens-01

I was just running around like a startled chicken and couldn’t do much except ping opponents. Fortunately, my team was quick and took out the enemies I marked quickly.

I picked up a Peacekeeper shotgun from the corpses and soon got lucky and found the (extremely cool) upgrade for tighter spread. Too bad I shortly thereafter got killed by a Caustic from the until then still unrecognized second enemy team. But my teammates were really on the ball, killed the Caustic, and brought me back up.

From then on, our victory march was unstoppable!

This is how the top round continued: My team and I used nonverbal communication in Apex exemplary and methodically slaughtered our way through several enemy teams. The following highlights were particularly intense:

  • During the 3rd ring, there was a brutal slaughter when we quickly wanted to find safety in the zone and encountered an entire team that was also fleeing. The scene resembled a stampede of wild animals fleeing from a forest fire. Since I was providing enough healing as Lifeline, we were able to win that brutal grueling fight.
  • Shortly thereafter, we were surprised by a well-fortified enemy at a choke point. He completely killed one of our teammates and could barely be defeated by us. But his buddies were still there and were firing back fiercely. Fortunately, my remaining comrade threw a smoke grenade, I grabbed the banner from the dead guy, and ran like crazy to the nearby respawn beacon, rezzed the teammate, and healed him immediately so he could get his gear back from the corpse. In no time, we were back to full strength and won that close fight as well.
  • I had gotten so used to my fully equipped shotgun and didn’t want to switch it. But I ran out of shotgun shells, and in the end, I had to defend myself with the sniper in close combat and won a tight fight more through luck than skill.
apex-top-runde-screens-02

This is how the round ended: Little by little, the space got tighter, and in the end, there was only one enemy left. He had fortified himself well, but the now really deadly zone forced him quickly out of cover, and we had the superior elevated position.

So the enemy went down like Anakin in Star Wars III, and we blasted him from above like a defenseless rabbit! Victory was ours!

The perfect success experience in a short time

That’s why Battle Royale offers the perfect success experience: The round described above was an absolute rollercoaster of emotions. I’ve only had a similar success experience during epic boss fights in my active MMORPG raid times or when I brought a campaign in my tabletop round to an epic climax after many weeks.

Can a win in Battle Royale top these experiences? Certainly not, but the joy is still very high, and BR has a decisive advantage:

I can theoretically have this awesome experience in 30 minutes. Every single BR round could be as thrilling as described above. This way, Battle Royale not only triggers my desire for satisfying successes but also my penchant for positive surprises.

apex-top-runde-screens-03

For the same reason, I also like loot boxes. You don’t know what’s inside, and if it’s something good, you’re happy. If not, you can always open a new box. That’s how Battle Royale works. I start a round, expect nothing, but I’m happy about anything that is better than a total wipe right at the beginning.

These are the temporal advantages of BR: And unlike MMORPG raids, where you often spend the whole week trying to find enough good players who all understand the boss mechanics and don’t rage quit after three wipes or start bickering with each other, I can have a good BR round much faster and more easily.

apex-top-runde-screens-04

A few somewhat decent randoms in the team are enough!

That’s why I love Battle Royale: Therefore, for me, Battle Royale is still the ideal online game genre, from which I can extract the maximum fun in the shortest time without needing a lot of preparation. Because leisure time is, at least for me, scarce and too precious to waste it on frustration and annoyance.

But enough of my praise for this BR genre. What do you think? Do you agree with me, or are you itching to contradict me in the comments?

Fortnite: Jump from giant beach umbrella – Map shows locations

Day 8 of the “14 Days of Summer” challenge from Fortnite has started and this time you need to jump from a giant beach umbrella. We will show you the locations of the umbrellas.

What is the challenge? This time, the task of the summer event requires you to jump from giant beach umbrellas. You need to do this in a total of 3 different matches.

On a map, we will show you all 6 locations of the beach umbrellas so you can complete the challenge without any issues:

Map
At all these 6 locations, you will find the beach umbrellas

Jump from a giant beach umbrella in 3 different matches

How do I complete the task? If you have one of the giant beach umbrellas in front of you, you just need to get onto the umbrella. You will then automatically bounce on it.

You need to bounce on the umbrellas in a total of 3 matches, and it doesn’t matter which umbrella you use. Once you have done that, the task is considered completed.

Beach umbrella
These are the giant beach umbrellas in question

This might help you: If you are currently in the match, you can easily search for the umbrellas on the map itself. They are marked as yellow circles.

The task is likely easiest in large group modes, such as Team Rumble. There, you can calmly search for the umbrellas, and even if you get eliminated, you will respawn and can try again.

Why you should complete all tasks: Anyone who completes all 14 challenges from “14 Days of Summer” will receive a rare back bling as a reward at the end.

This is the back bling “Smoothie,” which we already know from the Season 9 trailer.

The remaining tasks for “14 Days of Summer” have already been leaked in advance. We will show them to you here:

Horizon Chase Turbo

What is Horizon Chase Turbo? Horizon Chase Turbo is a fast-paced arcade racing game and essentially serves as a tribute to classic games like Top Gear, Rush, or Out Run. These titles unmistakably inspired the arcade racer.

With enhanced retro graphics and cool sounds, you can compete against computer opponents or other players in local multiplayer mode with split screen. You have 31 different vehicles available with numerous upgrades, as well as a motorcycle combination, to use on a total of 109 tracks around the world.

Day-night cycles and various weather effects like snow, rain, volcanic ash, or sandstorms affect the track conditions and the handling of the vehicles.

During the races, you collect items like fuel cans to reach the finish line or coins that increase your score. Also, the obligatory use of nitro is necessary to accelerate your vehicle at the right moment and leave your opponents behind. Races start from the last place, and you must fight your way through the competition to reach first place.

Who is Horizon Chase Turbo suitable for? Anyone who loves classic arcade racers like Top Gear or generally enjoys fun, lighthearted arcade racing action will have a great time with Horizon Chase Turbo.

Especially those who appreciate retro looks and sounds will find it incredibly enjoyable. However, if challenging races and precise controls are a must for you, you won’t be disappointed either.

If you want to grab free games for your PS4 every month, you need a PS Plus subscription. It costs you around €60 per year, but can also be paid monthly or quarterly, which ends up being a bit more expensive in the long run.

In addition to the two monthly PS4 games (as a digital download), there are other advantages. For example, you also benefit from special discounts in the PS Store or gain access to online multiplayer.

If your membership ends or you want to pause for a while – no problem. PS Plus games already in your library remain with you, along with progress – even if the subscription expires. You will just not be able to use these games anymore. If you renew or extend your membership, you regain full access to all your PS Plus content.

Destiny 2: The hunt for a new weapon exotic starts today – Here is what we know

Today, on July 2nd, the new Lumina quest starts in Destiny 2. As a reward, a new exotic hand cannon is waiting. Here’s what we know so far about this quest and the new weapon exotic.

This quest is about: With the Weekly Reset on July 2nd, there will be something new to do for all Annual Pass holders starting at 7:00 PM our time. Then you can hunt for a new exotic weapon as part of the so-called Lumina quest from Season 7.

What is the reward from the Lumina quest? At the end of the quest, a new exotic hand cannon – the Lumina, a kind of sister weapon to the Thorn – awaits you.

Where does the information come from? Official details about the quest are currently not available – other than that it starts in the EDZ. However, clever dataminers have already been able to extract some initial information. The results provide a first glimpse of what Guardians can expect starting July 2nd.

However, take the following details with a grain of salt. Much of this has not yet been officially confirmed. Once the quest goes live, we will publish a comprehensive Lumina guide with confirmed information.

This is how the Lumina quest works in Destiny 2

The data found already shows where you will probably start the quest and how the individual steps will proceed.

This is how you start the Lumina quest: Bungie has recently revealed that the Lumina quest begins in the EDZ on Earth.

Datamining helps to narrow down the search even further. The interesting thing is: it seems that you will most likely find the first quest step or the quest itself in the same place where you found the Thorn quest.

destiny-2-shadow-dorn
The Thorn

You can read how to get the Thorn here: This is how you get the Thorn in Destiny 2 – Guide

In the quest description, it says among other things, “You found a letter in the destroyed camp where you also found the damaged Thorn.” You should then determine the location of the original Thorn. It’s unclear whether you might need the Thorn itself to find the quest.

To possibly make it easier for you to start this new quest, we are showing here again where exactly you got the Thorn quest. Maybe you will also start the Lumina quest right there:

These are the quest steps: According to the found data, you need to complete the following steps:

  • Find a chest containing the Rose (the original form of the Thorn). For this, you need to achieve kills within an hour without reloading before the chest changes its position. You will probably need to get the kills with the Thorn or at least a form of this weapon that you get through the quest.
  • Complete various activities in the game. You must have the Rose equipped. If you play with other Guardians who are also using the Rose, you will make faster progress.
  • Complete a special version of the strike “Will of the Thousands”. There you will likely need to destroy the recently appeared Hive crystals and defeat Xol, the Worm God, at the end. You must complete this step in one run. Here you will find the locations of the crystals:

  • Collect hand cannon kills with team mates in the Crucible, generate Light Orbs for your team members (in any activities), and kill invaders in Gambit before they get someone from your team.
  • Complete a Nightfall strike with at least 50,000 points
  • Complete several Escalation Protocol waves, Forge ignitions, or repeat the Blind Well.

Afterwards, the quest should be completed based on the current state, and you will receive the Lumina.

This is what the new exotic hand cannon Lumina can do

The rumors about the Lumina have apparently been confirmed. In a trailer for the start of the quest, Bungie confirmed that the Lumina can heal and buff its allies.

Detailed information about this can be found in this article: The Lumina may become the 1st weapon in Destiny 2 that heals others

What do you think of the new exotic weapon? Are you ready to go at the start of the quest? By the way, another exotic weapon will likely come in Season 7 – apparently a returner from Destiny 1:

Crypto is probably coming to Apex Legends – What we know about skills and release

Just before Season 2, Apex Legends has been hiding more and more teasers and hints about another legend. This is Crypto, who apparently will be significantly responsible for the upcoming changes in the game itself.

Who is Crypto? Crypto is a new legend in Apex Legends, who was already found in a larger leak shortly after the release of Apex Legends during datamining. Recently, players have found laptops in King’s Canyon that pointed to him.

Since Octane and Wattson were present in the same leak and all predictions so far have been correct, it suggests that the information about Crypto is also true.

In one of the newly released trailers for Season 2, a person triggers an EMP using a laptop. Many suspect that this is Crypto.

Crypto appears to be a hacker who is responsible for the Repulsor collapsing in Season 2 and significantly changing the map. The Repulsor was responsible for keeping the giant creatures and dragons of King’s Canyon at bay.

Additionally, the character has apparently been visible to everyone since the start of the game – it’s just that no one really paid attention. In an artwork of Pathfinder, there are banners in the background that are supposed to represent Crypto.

Release and Skills of Crypto

What are Crypto’s abilities? So far, nothing concrete is known about the abilities of the new legend. From the files found, nothing could be derived for Crypto. However, his abilities based on the known hints and videos suggest his skills:

  • Crypto is skilled with computers – perhaps a skill similar to Pathfinder’s “Inside Knowledge”
  • He apparently has EMPs, as he was responsible for the collapse of the Repulsor
  • EMPs could block enemy abilities or even shields

His entire kit sounds like he is responsible for scouting and eliminating fortified positions. He would be an offensive legend that should be particularly effective against the fortified positions of the defensive legend Wattson.

Will Crypto make it into Season 2? There is currently no release date for Crypto. Many fans suspect that he will still appear in Season 2. However, Season 1 already had only one legend with Octane, and Wattson is already confirmed for Season 2.

Season 2 is also expected to undergo some changes, which should improve it compared to Season 1. Perhaps we will learn more about Crypto this evening when Season 2 starts:

FIFA 20 vs. PES 2020 – A clear victory for EA Sports?

Recently, FIFA 20 was introduced. The biggest innovation: the Street mode VOLTA. But what does competitor PES 2020 have to offer this year, in 2019? We compare the games.

We have already taken a closer look at the new features of FIFA 20. Especially in the gameplay area, EA Sports has announced quite a bit.

More on the topic
What is new in FIFA 20? Here are 24 changes you should know about
von Julian Schröder

But what does the competition eFootball PES 2020 offer this year? We have looked at the innovations and compared both games.

These are the new gameplay features

This is what PES 2020 offers: The gameplay in PES 2020 is set to change significantly. Konami has announced many improvements for gameplay. Especially the new, revamped dribbling system should be interesting for both beginners and pros. Tricks are performed with the right stick and can be refined with the left stick.

These are the biggest gameplay innovations:

  • Finesse Dribble – an improved dribbling technique with more options
  • Improved ball control
  • Context-sensitive shooting accuracy – the circumstances of the shot have more impact on its trajectory
  • Adaptive player interaction system – Should reflect player personalities on the field. For example, teammates make way for top dribblers for their dribbles
  • Tactical fouls can be intentionally applied
  • More realistic defense
  • Ronaldinho serves as the inspiration for new tricks in PES 2020

This is what FIFA 20 offers: Great promises were also made for the gameplay of FIFA 20. According to EA, a lot of fan feedback on FIFA 19 was collected and analyzed. Based on this feedback, the gameplay of FIFA 20 is said to have been improved and adjusted.

Dribbling FIFA 20 verbessert

EA summarizes the changes under the term “Football Intelligence”. This includes:

  • New penalty and free kick mechanics with more control over the shot and spin
  • The timed finishing has been revised – or has become harder to hit perfectly
  • Manual defending should pay off again
  • Improved one-on-one situations
  • Revamped ball physics with more realism
  • AI-controlled players engage more in the game and ensure that more types of goal chances arise. The “Natural Player Motion” should provide realistic behaviors on the field.
  • The new “Penalty Dribbling” allows you to lure the opponent and then leave them standing with dynamic movements.

In the FIFA 20 demo, you can test the gameplay yourself. All info about the demo – release and teams – is here.

These game modes are new

This is what PES 2020 offers: Konami offers a completely new game mode with “Matchday” in PES 2020. In this mode, the PES player must choose one of two sides at the beginning of the week and then collect event points in group matches.

After the group stage, it will be determined which players were the best in their groups. These players will meet in a final and can unlock rewards for all players on their side with a victory.

This is what FIFA 20 offers: While The Journey is omitted in FIFA 20 and will not continue, VOLTA is the big new game mode in FIFA 20. Here, street football returns to FIFA, fulfilling a long-held dream for many fans. But with VOLTA, not just one mode comes, but three:

  • VOLTA World – The main mode of VOLTA, here you compete online against opponents from all over the world and earn VOLTA Coins and rewards to improve your team and player
  • VOLTA Story – The introduction to VOLTA with a campaign
  • VOLTA Kick-Off – The offline mode for street duels on one console
FIFA-20

These game modes are set to improve

This is what PES 2020 offers: In PES 2020, the Master League (the equivalent of the career mode in FIFA) is being revised. Konami promises:

  • Dynamic interactions during contract negotiations
  • A more realistic transfer market
  • Improved coach models
  • Adjustable sponsor logos

This is what FIFA 20 offers: EA has announced improvements for Pro Clubs and the career mode here. However, details are unfortunately still unknown. Only at the end of July will we learn more here.

Graphically, both games are top-notch

Update: You can find a graphic comparison between FIFA 20 and PES 20 here.

This is what PES 2020 offers: PES 2020, like FIFA, offers great graphics with a modern engine. For the latest installment of their PES series, Konami has scanned and integrated the personal movement patterns of significantly more players than for its predecessor.

A major annoyance for many PES fans is also set to be improved: the menu navigation.

Because the outdated menus have hardly changed for years and were really no fun. However, Konami has promised improvements and wants to impress with new modern menus.

Furthermore, a new camera perspective should provide a TV feeling.

This is what FIFA 20 offers: Whether a lot will change technically in FIFA 20 is not directly recognizable. Nevertheless, FIFA 20 looks fantastic and still relies on the Frostbite engine. So there is nothing to criticize about the presentation.

No surprises are to be expected regarding licenses

This is what PES 2020 offers: For PES 2020, none other than Lionel Messi is the cover star; he and his club FC Barcelona have extended their license with Konami.

What other licenses Konami has secured for PES 2020 this year is still unknown. However, it is clear that EA is ahead here and has exclusive representation of many leagues with FIFA 20.

This is what FIFA 20 offers: EA once again offers a huge licensing package this year, with hardly any complaints for us Europeans. All major leagues, including the Champions and Europa League, are included. Just like the women’s national teams.

However, we will have to wait and see if anything changes regarding the licenses. Many fans are still wishing for more leagues from EA Sports.

Initial reactions to eFootball PES 2020

In recent weeks, Konami invited various editorial offices to play sessions. Here are the reactions:

Gamesradar – “eFootball PES 2020 is likely to be excellent”

Gamesradar was able to play PES 2020 for 30 minutes and is impressed by the increased realism of the new installment. Although the gameplay is slower, it offers only improvements over PES 2019 thanks to the improved team AI, unpredictable yet realistic physics, and satisfying player physique.

It is likely that PES 2020 could be the most refined and realistic football game yet.

Gamesradar, Dan Dawkins

Netzwelt – “Konami clearly focuses on gameplay for eFootball PES 2020 and that’s a good thing”

Netzwelt was able to play the first games in PES 2020 during a play session and is excited about the gameplay and innovations. The physicality of the players is felt, ensuring more realism and great duels.

There were only a few graphical complaints.

When the camera zoomed in on the French national team as they sang the national anthem, some disheartening scenes were revealed. Griezmann’s jaw moved like that of a nutcracker, Pogba looked like he was stoned, and Dembélé could hardly open his eyes.

netzwelt, Darius Schuiszill

Initial reactions to FIFA 20

At EA Play 2019, visitors were able to try out FIFA 20 but not the VOLTA mode. Here are the reactions:

FIFA-20-Sancho

PC Games – “Animations, presentation, gameplay feel – FIFA 20 builds on what the predecessors did well”

PC Games was at EA Play and was able to play FIFA 20 there. It is confirmed that the announced gameplay improvements have mostly been implemented and are indeed noticeable.

It is also positively noted that the skill moves in FIFA 20 require significantly more skill and can no longer be easily chained together.

FIFA 20 builds on what the predecessors did well. At the same time, some of the issues that FIFA 19 had are being addressed.

PC Games, Philipp Sattler

Engadget – “FIFA 20 is much more than just street football”

Engadget was also at EA Play and had the opportunity to play FIFA 20. Here, the improved one-on-one situations were particularly praised, as it is now significantly harder to get past strong defenders than in the predecessor. Furthermore, scoring goals is trickier, which adds to the realism.

EA Sports makes its beloved franchise look and feel even more realistic.

Engadget, Edgar Alvarez

See for yourself

When PES 2020 will be released: The release date of eFootball PES 2020 is September 10, 2019. The football simulation will be released on the following platforms: Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

How you can play PES 2020 before release: Konami has already confirmed the demo date for PES 2020; it is July 30, 2019. On this date, the demo will also be released for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

When FIFA 20 will be released: On September 27, 2019, FIFA 20 will be released for Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

How you can play FIFA 20 before release: There is no official demo date for FIFA 20 yet. However, it has been the case in previous years that FIFA demos were released about two weeks before the release. For this reason, we expect a similar date this year. Realistically, it would be September 12, 2019.

Additionally, there are several ways to play the full version of FIFA 20 thoroughly before release:

FIFA 20: Release with EA Access – When can you play for the first time?
von Julian Schröder

At Gamescom 2019, you will also have the opportunity to play FIFA 20. This takes place from August 21 to 24 in Cologne.

Which game will be better?

In summary: FIFA seems to be bundling the bigger package this year and clearly offers the most and biggest innovations. The VOLTA mode alone is completely new and is sure to provide plenty of variety in virtual football life.

In contrast, PES is being tweaked and improved in important areas. But that doesn’t have to be a bad thing, as PES is known for its outstanding gameplay. However, EA Sports also seems to be catching up and addressing its biggest gameplay issues.

We are certainly excited for September when both games will be released.

WoW: Because the balance is not right, Blizzard is abolishing the new PvP event

The PvP event in Nazjatar from World of Warcraft has been abolished – at least on some realms. We reveal what is behind it.

Every 3 hours (at 9:00 AM, 12:00 PM, etc.) a special PvP event takes place in Nazjatar, the new area from Patch 8.2 in World of Warcraft. Here, players from both factions can participate to capture control points and then be rewarded. But this is now completed in many cases. On some shards, the PvP event is simply disabled and replaced. The reason for this is that the balance was inaccurate.

What was the problem? During the PvP event in Nazjatar, players always split up. Due to group searching or a strong imbalance between the server factions, one side dominated while the other side simply switched to another shard to win there as well. Thus, Horde and Alliance played “individually for themselves” and there was hardly any PvP.

WoW Nazjatar Naga

What has been changed now? Blizzard has now made a change, so that the PvP event in Nazjatar is only triggered when there are enough players from both factions present on the respective shard (which is essentially an “instance” of the area). If this is not the case, another world event is simply triggered: The attack of the Naga commanders. Here, elite Naga spawn at different points on the map that must be defeated in a PvE battle.

What about the rewards? To ensure that players from unevenly populated shards also have a chance to obtain the rewards that can be purchased with the battle commendations from Nazjatar, these are now also dropped by the Naga commanders. Originally, this was a pure PvP currency that was only available for the PvP event and for collecting the supply crate. Now the tokens are also available for participating in PvE.

Players have mixed opinions: As so often, Blizzard’s decision is hotly debated. Some welcome the change that Blizzard has introduced a solid replacement for the unfair PvP event. Other players wish that Blizzard would finally get a grip on the problems with sharding and create balanced conditions so that such PvP events become attractive again.

What do you think of this change? Is it good that Blizzard is reacting so quickly? Or is it just a stopgap measure that obscures a larger problem?

He is coming: Multiplayer for Cyberpunk 2077 confirmed

So it is: According to CD Projekt Red’s President Adam Kicinski, a multiplayer mode for the action role-playing game Cyberpunk 2077 is indeed currently in development. 40 people are said to be working on this.

What has the situation been regarding the multiplayer mode? It has been somewhat confusing. Initially, it was said that a multiplayer mode was planned, but then the developers suddenly claimed that none would come. Cyberpunk 2077 is supposed to be a single-player role-playing game. And if they introduce multiplayer, it will be later and only when they have the right idea for it.

Multiplayer is coming after all

How has the situation changed now? CD Projekt Red’s President Adam Kicinski stated that currently, three teams are working on projects related to Cyberpunk 2077.

  • One is developing the main game, which is set to be released on April 16, 2020
  • Another team, strengthened by 40 members, is working on a multiplayer mode for Cyberpunk 2077
  • A third team is developing the next AAA project, which is also set in the same universe and is supposed to be something innovative

What could the multiplayer mode look like? We know that CD Projekt Red places great importance on making Cyberpunk 2077 primarily a story-driven single-player role-playing game with interesting characters and decisions that have consequences. However, there are certainly ways to incorporate multiplayer:

  • A multiplayer mode could take place separately like in GTA Online. Players team up and complete missions in the same game world
  • There could be special coop missions, for which you need to meet at a bar to assemble a team
  • PvP battles could take place in an arena
  • There could be competitions in cyberspace

When could the multiplayer mode arrive? Presumably, it will be a DLC that will be released after the launch of Cyberpunk 2077.

Cyberpunk 2077 V

Will the next Cyberpunk game be an MMO?

What does Kicinski’s statement mean? We will therefore see another large game in the same universe after Cyberpunk 2077. It is said to be an innovative project.

This could be an indication that multiplayer will be integrated from the start. Will we perhaps get a Cyberpunk MMORPG? Or some kind of Cyberpunk “Destiny”? The project is certainly a few years away from being revealed.

In any case, we can look forward to something big and interesting.

Pokémon GO: How rare are the Shinies of the current Alola Pokémon

In Pokémon GO, there are currently more Alolan Pokémon to catch. These monsters can now also be shiny, but what is the chance of getting a shiny?

Where do the numbers come from? The analysts from TheSilphRoad have examined the shiny rates. The team caught various Alolan Pokémon and then looked at how many shinies they got.

In total, over 18,000 Alolan Pokémon were caught to determine the approximate rate.

Pokémon GO Vulpix Alola Egg

These are the shiny rates of the Alolan Pokémon

This is what was found: We now show you the caught Alolan Pokémon from TheSilphRoad and the shiny rates they are counting on:

PokémonShinies and encountersEstimated rate
Alolan Diglett11 shinies from 5373 encounters1 in 450
Alolan Rattata14 shinies from 5179 encounters1 in 450
Alolan Geodude19 shinies from 6724 encounters1 in 450
Alolan Exeggutor17 shinies from 1048 encounters1 in 60

What can be said about the rates? Shinies in Pokémon GO always have the same probabilities. Normal shinies in the wild, for example, have a rate of 1 in 450. According to the initial research by TheSilphRoad, Diglett, Rattata, and Geodude also average out to that number.

However, a few shinies in the wild have a higher shiny chance. This is at 1 in 60. This applies to Pokémon that are rather rare in the wild, such as Scyther or Aerodactyl. Alolan Exeggutor seems to count here as well. After all, this Pokémon is also significantly rarer than the other Alolan Pokémon.

What about the other Alolan Pokémon? There are also other Alolan Pokémon that are shinies, which you can only get from eggs. These include Grimer, Meowth, Vulpix, and Sandshrew.

There is still no data from TheSilphRoad regarding this. The rate for shinies from eggs for baby Pokémon is 1 in 50. Here, the Alolans could also settle.

Pokémon GO Alola Title3

Is the event worth it for shiny hunters? The chances of getting a shiny Exeggutor are good. Even though it is not very common to find in the wild, the chances are better than outside of an event.

The other new shinies have the normal shiny rate. You currently encounter them much more frequently. Still, you need quite a bit of luck here.

How long will the Alolan Pokémon be more common? There is no exact end date for this. Party Hat Pikachu, however, will disappear on July 6 at 10 PM. It is quite possible that the increased Alolan spawns will end at the same time.

You now also have the chance for shiny Pandir from field research:

Bethesda continues with Fallout 76, even though some critics demand: “Stop!”

Bethesda’s Pete Hines compares the situation surrounding Fallout 76 to the release of The Elder Scrolls Online, stating that there is no other choice but to keep going.

Why is Fallout 76 a challenge for Bethesda? The online game is the first title in many years that was not well received by critics or players at launch. It faced criticism and the reviews were far from good.

After hits like The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind, TES 4: Oblivion, Fallout 3, The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, and Fallout 4, Bethesda finds itself in an unfamiliar situation and must now deal with it.

Fallout-76-Nuclear-Winter-pvp-1

Bethesda is not giving up

What does Bethesda have to say about this? Pete Hines, Vice President of Global Marketing and Communications, explains that there is simply no other way for Bethesda than to continue with Fallout 76. It’s just in the DNA of the developers. It also comes with a sense of pride. Pride in showing players that Bethesda can still make a really good game out of Fallout 76.

However, he also admits that Fallout 76 was plagued by problems at launch. Problems that the developers might have been able to foresee. Nevertheless, everyone on the team has always believed in the game and what it could become.

This is how Hines responds to the criticism: Of course, the echo from players does not just pass Bethesda by, but Pete Hines says that it all sounds familiar to him. The situation reminds him of the release of The Elder Scrolls Online:

Some people on my team – myself included – said: “I have seen this movie before.” We publish something on social media and see all the comments about how no one is playing this game and that we should stop talking about it. I heard all of that when The Elder Scrolls Online launched.

And we have seen what has become of The Elder Scrolls Online.

Fallout 76 Nuclear Winter Kampf gegen Viecher

Fallout 76 is being developed further

What does this mean for Fallout 76? Bethesda will not simply give up the game. It’s not in the nature of the studio. The ambition of the developers has been ignited and they now want to show what Fallout 76 can be.

Furthermore, Bethesda has already experienced that a game criticized on social media can still become a hit. If it worked out for The Elder Scrolls Online, it can work for Fallout 76 as well.

We will hear a lot more from Fallout 76 in the future. And perhaps it will experience a resurgence similar to that of ESO.

Fortnite at the highest level drives Twitch star Tfue crazy – Obsessed with ping

Millions play the online shooter Fortnite. The Twitch streamer Turner “Tfue” Tenney is considered one of the best, ranking among the top 100 players in the world. However, at the highest level, the game seems to take its toll on him. For him, it all revolves around ping and the state.

What is it about at the highest level in Fortnite? Fortnite has several skill levels. We roughly summarize three, how the “gameplay” actually differs – strategically, there are other components:

fortnite-building-title
  • At the highest level, it’s about breaking down enemy walls and replacing them with your own. Then you edit a gap into it, shooting the opponent through this sight window. Or you defend yourself by continually raising the wall that the opponent just shot down.

“The game is so dumb – it’s so dumb”

What frustrates Tfue? Tfue is obsessed with “ping,” the time it takes for an action in the game to actually execute. He believes that with too high ping, it takes too long for structures to be built and edited. As a result, he sees himself at a significant disadvantage.

Tfue moved to New Jersey to be with his friend Cloak for “0 ping.”

But when he plays in his home state of Florida, he does so with a ping that has become unbearable for him at about 40.

This is how Tfue escalates: In one scene, Tfue is seen dueling with another strong player. Because he loses the duel, he gets angry that “Florida would let him down” and that the opponent surely comes from “Pennsylvania,” a U.S. state known for players having good ping.

Tfue then curses, stating the game is “so dumb.” He can hardly believe how “dumb” the game is. He is in Florida, where the internet is “crappy,” and therefore his buildings are not placed quickly enough.

Tfue’s problem is clearly visible in the next clip. He wants to destroy the roof of his opponent, but the opponent keeps rebuilding because he apparently has such a good ping. Only when Tfue gets help from Bugha, a player with 0 ping, can he take down the opponent.

What’s behind it: Tfue seems almost obsessed with his ping by now. After all, he moved specifically for it and changed his place of residence. However, he doesn’t win every game from New Jersey – despite 0 ping.

Most “normal” players have little understanding of this. They have to live with the ping they have due to their location.

Teamfight Tactics announces new champion from LoL – Fans unveil him immediately

The currently very popular Teamfight Tactics is getting a new hero from League of Legends. Shortly after the developers teased him, the community knew who it was: Twisted Fate is coming to LoL Auto Chess.

What did Riot announce? There is often a lot of fuss about new heroes. They are mysteriously teased and then gradually revealed.

Riot Games teases the champion 51 for the popular Teamfight Tactics with a rather uninformative image on Twitter. But that was enough for the LoL experts to decipher him.

What happened then? Fans immediately recognized from the image who it was. The excerpt clearly shows the arm of Twisted Fate.

So who is the new hero? Twisted Fate is coming as the 51st champion to LoL Auto Chess. But what role will he take on?

That was relatively clear as well. From the associated artwork, fans deduced that Twisted Fate appears as a Pirate Sorcerer. He would thus be the fifth pirate, which fits well into the scenario and makes sense.

Who is Twisted Fate? In League of Legends, he is the Master of Cards and fights with a magical deck of cards. He is a con artist who gets by with card tricks.

How reliable is the information? Riot has not yet confirmed any of the “speculations.” However, it seems very likely that Twisted Fate will be the next hero.

And it also seems logical that he appears as a Pirate Sorcerer. But until the developers confirm this, it is of course just speculation.

It seems that the new TFT hero is Twisted Fate.

Fans are excited about the new hero

How do players react to the new hero? There is a lot of discussion in the tweet. Players are wishing for a new pirate, and Twisted Fate would fit in very well here. There is certainly great anticipation for the new hero and the combos he can engage in.

How many heroes will there be? The limit is said to be 60. Since this is the announcement of the 51st hero, nine more will follow.

When will the new hero come? So far, no exact date has been mentioned. Riot wants to thoroughly introduce the champion before they integrate him into the game Teamfight Tactics. The 9.14 patch, which is likely to be released next week, is expected to introduce the new hero.

The Division 2: The abilities of the two new Exotics from Title Update 5

In The Division 2 PC players can finally test Title Update 5 and Episode 1 on the Test Server (PTS). It has also been revealed what the two new Exotics from the next major update can do.

These are the Exotics: The next major update for The Division 2, Title Update 5, is set to introduce two new Exotics in July:

  • The BTSU Gloves
  • and the Diamondback, a lever-action rifle

On the Test Servers, where Title Update 5 can already be partially tested, there is still no access – this is expected to happen at a later time.

How the new Exotics play is still unknown. However, the attributes of these Exotics have at least been revealed. So we know what they can do.

The new BTSU Gloves – Here are the properties of this exotic gear piece

What’s in the BTSU Gloves: The BTSU Gloves are the second exotic armor piece in the game after the Dodge City Gunslinger Holster. BTSU stands for Black Task Special Unit.

These are the talents of the BTSU Gloves:

  • “Elemental Gadgetry”
    • Skills that trigger status effects gain +50% status effect duration and +50% skill haste.
  • “Energy Infusion”
    • Whenever you trigger a status effect, your gloves become “infused” for 60 seconds. While “infused”, you gain +10% skill damage, +10% skill healing and repair, and +10% skill duration for each yellow stat on your equipment.
  • “Charged Proxies”
    • When you use such a skill, an explosion is created 1.25 seconds after the hit, transferring the “infused” status effect to all enemies within a radius of 6 meters. Affected enemies take 50% more damage from your skills.

The new Diamondback Rifle – Here’s what the exotic weapon can do

What lies behind the Diamondback: The Diamondback is a lever-action rifle with a unique snake design. The magazine of this weapon holds 5 rounds, and the rate of fire is 100 RPM.

These are the talents of the Diamondback:

  • “Agonizing Bite”
    • The Diamondback randomly marks an enemy. If you hit this enemy, it “consumes” the mark, guaranteeing a critical hit with +20% total damage. A new random enemy is marked each time you reload.
  • “Deep Fangs”
    • After hitting 5 marked enemies, you gain +50% reload speed and +20% total damage for 10 seconds. During this time, all shots fired are guaranteed critical hits.
  • “Shedding Skin”
    • While the weapon is drawn, you gain +20% bonus armor for 3 seconds each time a round is reloaded. When the weapon is holstered, you gain +8% bonus armor for 2 seconds each time you reload or switch your currently equipped weapon.

What do you think of these two new Exotics at first glance? Is there something exciting for you?

Developer says: Before you buy our games on G2A, just download them illegally

Several developers and publishers are currently angry at the key reseller G2A. They would even prefer if their games were simply pirated rather than bought on this platform.

What is G2A? G2A is a reseller marketplace primarily where one can offer and buy keys for games. According to their own statements, there are around 16 million customers and 400,000 sellers active there. The advantage of G2A for customers is that the game keys offered there are often cheaper than when purchased regularly from a retailer or publisher.

However, it is often unclear where the keys come from. Through bots, shady vendors can quickly sell hundreds of keys bought with stolen credit cards or invalid keys.

Developers have a problem with resellers

How developers are reacting: Since developers/publishers ultimately don’t see a cent for illegally obtained keys and even have to deal with angry customers complaining about non-working keys in support, some industry representatives are not pleased with G2A.

For instance, Mike Rose from NoMoreRobots reacted extremely angrily when G2A had placed its advertising on Google above the search results for the official shop page with a new marketing campaign.

https://twitter.com/RaveofRavendale/status/1145272774761603072

“Please, if you buy a game on G2A, then just pirate it! Seriously! The developers aren’t seeing any pennies anyway, so we would prefer if G2A doesn’t get any money either.”

These accusatory words were quickly echoed by other developers. People from Squid Games and Vlambeer also advised players to download the games illegally from any torrent sites rather than buy them from what they see as the shady reseller G2A.

What does G2A do? Since key reselling remains a legal gray area, resellers like G2A strive for a good image. Recently, a campaign was launched where streamers explain why the reseller is doing nothing wrong.

This, in turn, is vehemently rejected by angry developers, such as the aforementioned Mike Rose:

https://twitter.com/RaveofRavendale/status/1145651917227548674

“Hopefully not too many people believe the crap they are saying!”
