Solid expansion that makes you want more – but not a milestone
Here’s how I see it: I unfortunately see Shadowkeep at the moment with more doubts than I would like. I believe that Destiny can have a good future and the change in the company’s mindset will bear fruit – but that Shadowkeep will be a big hit seems very unlikely to me.
Especially since important changes, such as those in PvP, are likely postponed to “later.” A new focus on things like the Trials would be so important for the game. Additionally, Destiny needs a content flow that consists of more than just new exotics.
Yes, the current Season 7 has breathed new life into Destiny 2, but I lack the belief that Bungie can deliver something big right now.
Shadowkeep will be important to see what we can expect from Bungie in the future and to recognize the direction in which the franchise is heading. Things like Armor 2.0 or the RPG focus sound good.
I think Shadowkeep will not disappoint fans but will give them what they expect: More content. However, it will more likely be a preview of later, bigger things than a big hit.
Shadowkeep will not trigger a new Destiny hype, as Forsaken or The Taken King did.
In EVE Online, developer CCP has taken away the chat from players. This also eliminates their alarm systems. The “Blackout” makes planning and playing in the MMORPG significantly more dangerous. And this is welcomed by the game’s supreme tyrant.

Blizzard has revealed new cards for the upcoming Hearthstone expansion. Mages are getting a cool quest – with a lot of randomness.
The next expansion for Hearthstone will be “Saviors of Uldum”. Here, the story surrounding the villains of Ü.B.E.L. continues. As usual, there are 135 new cards, which are now being revealed piece by piece. In the meantime, new cards have been released, including the mage’s quest. We show you which cards have been added.
5 new cards from Saviors of Uldum
Mages receive the quest Temple Souvenir. The task is to play at least 10 spells (the quest itself does not count). If successful, the mage receives “Mythical Scroll.” This replaces their hero power and allows the mage to draw a random mage spell for 2 mana that costs 2 mana less. Thus, the mage can generate a spell each round.
Shamans get a powerful new spell, Earthquake. For 7 mana, the spell first deals 5 damage to all minions and then 2 damage to all minions again. This is particularly useful, as any summonings through death rattles can be defeated. It can also destroy numerous minions that would need to be dealt with through a Divine Shield first.
The Weaponized Wasp is also for shamans, but a beast minion. For 3 mana, it has stats of 3/3, but has an interesting effect as a Battlecry. If the player controls a minion, it deals an additional 3 damage to a target.
Druids also receive a new spell with the friendly name ARGH! BEES!!! For 3 mana, the druid can select a minion. Then, they summon 4 bees with 1/1 stats that sequentially attack that minion.
Warlocks are also getting a new spell. For 4 mana, they can cast the Implications spell. This destroys a targeted minion but also shuffles 3 worthless Imps into the warlock’s deck. Worthless Imps are 1/1 demons that cost 1 mana.

Our author Schuhmann looks back at the highlights and low points of the last 5 years and analyzes, based on Google Trends, how the interest in the site fluctuates with the MMOs and MMO shooters that have been released. When were there the major hype moments and when were the long lulls?
Where do the numbers come from? The numbers are from Google. The “Google Trends” function shows the development of search interest over time. There is a lot involved: Google thinks in terms of themes and subject complexes.
Our head Dawid Hallmann started working on MeinMMO around September 2013 – but it really got underway in Spring 2014 when the MMORPGs WildStar and The Elder Scrolls Online were released. At that time, we were a small site that had hardly any relevance in the eyes of the all-powerful search engine.
That’s why we limited the search to the last 5 years.

In the beginning was Destiny
This is interesting: One can clearly trace from the graph that Google produces how the interest in our site and the games we cover has developed over the years.
It is precisely traceable which games are linked to our site and which games our readers are interested in.
The benchmark for interest is the maximum interest in our site. The 100% was reached in September 2017 – at the release of Destiny 2.

Early on, more games were included
It stands out: Our site existed before Destiny was released in September 2014. But our early successes with MMORPGs like The Elder Scrolls Online, WildStar, or ArcheAge are hardly visible in the graph. The level was probably too low.
Over the years, our site “MeinMMO” has been strongly associated with Destiny and Destiny 2 by readers. This is also confirmed by Google Trends.
However, this expanded over time. At the latest by 2016, when Destiny fell into a longer content drought, other games became increasingly important for the authors and readers of MeinMMO.

How important was Destiny for MeinMMO? Google Trends says: Very important. There are regular spikes in September of each year, which have grown larger over the years. Both Destiny “The Taken King” and “Destiny 2” are clearly visible in the graph. Even Rise of Iron in 2016 gave a boost.
The strong Septembers are complemented by the respective new titles of the FIFA series, which traditionally release in the fall of each year and perform strongly on our site.
Over the years, the graph reveals that more and more games became decisive for the development of MeinMMO, while at the beginning Destiny dominated.
Thus, The Division 1 intercepted the Destiny dip in early 2016: Interest remained high from the end of March to the end of April 2016. Here, a pattern emerges that MeinMMO often gains interest a few weeks after the release of a game, when the “launch coverage” is over and other media move on to the next game.
The big lulls in online gaming
Where are the low points? The absolute low point of every year is reached between the years – in the last week of December and the first week of January, players strangely have different interests than searching for entertainment and information on an MMO site.
Persistent droughts are noticeable in the summer of each year, as there are hardly any releases. However, the level here has clearly increased over the years.
Christmas is often the time for events – but around New Year’s Eve it is quiet in the gaming world.
The big hype moments of recent years
What about hype? Summer is not always a void. The summer of 2016 with Pokémon GO was remarkably strong.
In 2018, you can see the Fortnite hype in action. The months from April to June 2018 were marked by the online shooter on MeinMMO. In May 2018, even an out-of-the-ordinary peak was reached.
Unusually strong was also the Spring release window of 2019.
How has it developed recently? The fall and winter of 2018 were quite packed with titles like Red Dead Redemption 2 or Fallout 76. There were even spikes upward in December.
The year 2019 already saw an extraordinarily strong interest in MeinMMO in February and March with Anthem and The Division 2. In the previous years, that time was significantly quieter.
However, there are currently no major topics in summer 2019. The mood is relatively calm with the winding down of The Division 2 and Anthem at the end of April.

How is it going overall for MeinMMO? When we step away from Google Trends and look at our own numbers, we see that the number of “direct users” of MeinMMO has continued to rise over the years.
To account for this diverse interest in our site, we plan to relaunch our homepage with new features in July 2019, through which users can find what they are interested in on MeinMMO even faster.
In Destiny 2, things are not always overly serious. This was recently demonstrated by a Guardian with a video. In it, he showcases his “Yoga class,” which he organized between raids. The players in the clip had fun and also inspired other Guardians to engage in some physical activities at the Tower.

In Apex Legends the new Season 2 should be faster and smoother according to the developers than in Season 1. For this, challenges are supposed to help. However, according to some players, it has even gotten worse now. The fault lies with the missable challenges and scaling tasks.
So was the progress earlier: In Season 1 there were no challenges, you always needed a flat 29,500 XP per level and could earn thousands of bonus XP if you systematically played all legends in a week. Nevertheless, it took ages and many fans wished for challenges to shorten and spice up the grind.
How does progress work in the Season 2 Battle Pass? In Season 2 this was supposed to change, because there are now daily and weekly challenges that immediately grant you complete levels in the pass. For this, the legend bonus from Season 1 was removed and each level requires more XP than the previous one.
It should actually go faster in the end. But many players are slowly doubting that.
This is how fast the progress in the Season 2 Battle Pass really is
We received an email from our readers Smoghul and
Pashai. The gamer couple had struggled to reach the maximum level in Season 1. But in Season 2 it feels more difficult and slower for them.
The following aspects of Season 2 are to blame:
You need more and more XP per level
You no longer receive bonus XP for regular play
The challenges do not give much XP and the bonus-level challenges take a long time to complete
You can miss challenges and then it’s even harder to catch up later
There is also a large thread on Reddit on the topic that is attracting a lot of attention with almost 2,000 upvotes. It is also criticized there that the grind is worse than before.
This is how scaling works in Season 2: Particularly bad is the scaling. Here you have to earn 9,000 XP first, then you get a level. For each additional level you have to farm 9k more than before. So 18,000 for a second level, 27,000 for the third, and so on. This ends up at 54,000 XP for a level, which takes a very long time.

As a reminder, in Season 1 it was always 29,500 XP. In addition, you received much more XP from playing thanks to the bonus XP from the legends.
The misery of the fixed 54k XP per level only ends when the week resets each Tuesday and the scaling starts again at 9,000 XP for the first earned level.
This is how you still get bonus levels: Aside from this progression, there are only three one-time weekly tasks left, which are also quite tricky and each provide a bonus level in the pass.
Some of the tasks are quite tricky.
You also need to get 30 kills with a specific hero or deal massive damage with a specific weapon.
Furthermore, there is a level per week when you complete once 5 and once 10 daily tasks.
New system favors frequent players
This type of player is at a disadvantage: So if you are a casual player with not much time to play or need to be away for a while, you miss many opportunities to effectively earn Battle Pass levels.
Because the “cheap” bonus levels from the early scaling phases reset every week, and if someone is on vacation for 2 weeks or for other reasons doesn’t play much, they permanently miss many easily obtainable levels in the Battle Pass.
Power gamers also have disadvantages: The system does not favor hardcore gamers either and prolongs progress through the weekly resets. Because anyone who wants to farm XP after the 54K XP limit will no longer level up effectively.
This is what players are saying: Many players on Reddit see it like Smoghul & Pashai. The grind is worse and it takes longer than in Season 1 to complete everything. Especially since the special weekly tasks often take many hours to complete and you take so long to finish them all.
Other players praise the new system and claim that it has divided the grind into small portions and that casual players should benefit from it. They should be able to complete the pass faster overall than in Season 1.
Provided they play every week effectively and focus on completing the challenges and do not take longer than 5 hours for the weeklies. This, according to many players, including our readers Smoghul & Pashai, is hardly possible.
Therefore, they suspect that many players who end up still being several levels away from the maximum level and the cool skins available there will then resort to credit cards and simply buy the missing levels with real money for 1.50 Euros per level instead of going through the grind.
The system in Apex Legends is therefore far from the sometimes extremely easy tasks from Fortnite, which you can theoretically complete all in the last minute.

Players are frequently disconnecting from activities (notably more than usual)
The ranking systems of the Crucible and Gambit do not acknowledge progress or even deduct points (competitively), even though they have been won
Powerful rewards no longer grant Power upgrades for the respective player level
The Blind Well is not properly activated even after the latest patch
Weapon models do not load and are only displayed as transparent shimmering models – without a crosshair in the aiming view and with strange sounds (including Exotics)
Player models are often loaded late or not at all and remain shimmering transparent, which particularly annoys many Guardians in the Crucible
Some weapon perks like the “Reserved Salvo” of the Fusion Rifle “The Mountaintop” are not triggered consistently or at all
Players suddenly load into another instance in the middle of a session
Progress may not be obtainable for triumphs or loot streams
What you should watch out for: Many fans currently advise avoiding modes with ranking systems such as competitive multiplayer or Gambit until the issues are resolved or ease up. In these modes, you currently not only often make no progress, but may also lose valuable and hard-earned points – even if you win the Crucible match.
Moreover, especially in these modes, progress for powerful rewards is not being properly recognized. And even if it is, you often receive items below your own Power level from the powerful rewards.
Furthermore, it is recommended to refrain from decrypting Prime Engrams and redeeming powerful rewards, as these rewards can also result in items below your own Power level.

What does Bungie say? The developers have not commented on the issues so far. Even the Bungie Help Twitter account remains silent. Last night, it was only briefly mentioned that some Guardians could be returned to the title screen as they attempt to resolve a problem. However, they should be able to log in again immediately.
However, according to player reports, it hasn’t brought or improved anything. So it is still unclear where exactly the cause of the problems lies and when a fix or improvement should be expected.
What you can do: Some players report that a reset (No, not to factory settings!) of their console or a restart of the PC sometimes fixes or at least reduces the issues. However, this apparently does not work for all players.
You can try it anyway. Just disconnect your PS4 from the power for about a minute or hold the power button on your Xbox One a little longer until the console shuts down and then restarts. For the PC, a simple restart is sufficient.

The Creative Director of The Division 2 asked fans what they think of a single-player spin-off for the Division series. And it seems that many are far from opposed.
What is the single-player spin-off idea about? Some fans of the Division series have long wanted more story or even a single-player spin-off set in the world of The Division. The Creative Director of The Division 2, Julian Gerighty, is now bringing these hopes back to life for some.
On Twitter, he reached out to fans of the Division series and wanted to know what they think of such a single-player title.
How did this come about? On Saturday, July 13, Tim Spencer, a game developer (level designer at TT-Games) and fan of the Division series, first tweeted his thoughts on a single-player spin-off.
He would be very happy about a story-driven single-player spin-off for The Division. The focus could be on an agent trying to return to his family after being sent to New York following the events of The Division – haunted by fears and nightmares, having not been there for his loved ones when it mattered.
So far, none of the stories in the Division series have explored the personal sacrifices an agent must make and what he has to endure mentally. It’s all very dark and epic – a huge opportunity to tell some incredible stories.
Julian Gerighty then picked up the tweet and openly asked fans what they thought about such an idea.
What are the fans saying? The fans’ reactions are quite clear. The vast majority support such a single-player spin-off. The prevailing sentiment: They think the idea is just great.
Some fans have not warmed up to the Division as a looter-shooter but are indeed interested in a story-heavy single-player game in this setting. Therefore, some fans would be very welcoming of an evolution or expansion of the game series.
In light of the fan reactions, Gerighty himself also humorously noted: Apparently, this is something people are not exactly resistant to.
What are the chances? The question does not mean that such a spin-off is already planned or even in the works. Currently, absolutely nothing is confirmed – neither by Ubisoft nor by Massive Entertainment. And it is quite possible that it remains just this one question. For now, it seems to be purely a fan wish – although some fans have gotten a renewed boost in hopes after this tweet.
But it shows that the developers are at least actively interested in this idea and value the feedback from fans. With such a spin-off, they would have the chance to bring the often criticized superficial storytelling of the Division series into focus in a new game. And interest, as we can see, is definitely there.

These are limited researches: At these events, there are special field researches to solve, which all reward you with a special Pokémon. This appears for the first time as Shiny.
Recently, there was the event in March. There, Shiny Loturzel was available for the first time, and in the wild, Shiny Formeo was encountered more frequently, which was also new.
However, in the following months, there were no further limited researches. After it seemed that such an event would be held monthly, there is now again silence.

The limited researches were so good: It was a completely different approach that you had to play with here. You mainly had to hunt for the field researches to get the Shinies.

Normally, Shinys are found mainly in the wild, but during the limited researches, you had to rely on the quests.
Moreover, the bonuses were good. During the researches with Perlu, there were additional water Pokémon in the wild and double stardust. At the event with Loturzel, Formeo spawned another new Shiny in the wild.
What I liked best: The quests sometimes challenged you a bit. “Land 3 good throws in a row” or “Land 3 curveball throws” can be accomplished by all players in time, but here you could also shine with your throwing skills and complete the tasks quickly.
How do other players see this? On Reddit there are various threads from players who are also asking about the limited researches.

What does Niantic say about this? The developers have not yet commented on the future of the limited researches. This is sad because many players are still hoping for such an event.
Niantic also reacted to this and changed the Shiny rate at Perlu and even extended the period during the event with Loturzel to 9 hours, while it was previously 3 hours.
What does the future of limited researches look like? Niantic continually faced criticism during the event. There wasn’t really any during the Community Day or the Raid Days.
Also, currently, exactly these live events are already taking place with 2 major events per month. In addition, there are the GO Fests in summer.
The time frame for the limited researches is therefore small. After it now seems that there will also be no quest day for the 4th month in a row, things look bleak for the limited researches.
But there is a glimmer of hope: at least in August with Suicune, the last raid day for now will take place. So there would be room for another quest day in September. We will have to wait and see what Niantic comes up with.

This is how Epic upset the players: Just before the tournament started, Epic announced a rule change via Twitter.
A bug had occurred. Therefore, the tournament will take place with the “normal” harvesting rules and without material drops for the rest of the week.
Why this is important: The change means that players have to “farm more”, that is, they have to break things in the game with the pickaxe if they want to build their structures.
What is the reaction? The reaction to this “last-minute” change is very negative. Many are upset about it. The problem is not the change itself, but that it came just before the tournament started:
Players criticize that it questions the “integrity” of the tournament.
That’s not how to run an eSport.
They accuse Epic of always doing everything at the last minute.
People are fed up. They expect Epic to communicate such changes after their mistakes in a way that players can adjust to.
I wouldnt be mad but you LITERALLY pull this on us with 15 minutes till the tourney, no disabling in arena or anything help us figure out how to play it. Like how hard is it to realise u fucked up and tell us with notice so we can adapt.
What is behind this: It is exactly what is repeatedly criticized about Epic’s handling of eSport, taken to an extreme.
It’s not feasible for teams to prepare for a tournament if a patch changes the rules beforehand and overturns the strategy. Here it is particularly striking because the change comes just before the tournament starts.
