Pokémon GO has announced the GO Fest for Japan! It will take place in Yokohama in August and will likely also affect German players.
When does the GO Fest start? In Japan, it will take place in August. From 06.08 to 12.08, the event will run for a total of 7 days. No other GO Fest will last as long this year.
Why is it important for us? Events like GO Fests or Safari Zones always impact the global player base. New Shinies are often introduced there, or sometimes there are even global bonuses.
GO Fest in Yokohama – This is what it’s about
Which Pokémon will be featured? In line with the event, an image has also been released showing the Pokémon that will play a role in the GO Fest.
In the image, you can see the following Pokémon:
- Salamence
- Unown
- Squirtle
- Bounsweet
- Chatot
- Whismur
- Piplup
- Pikachu
What is known about the Pokémon? Chatot will be the regional Pokémon of the GO Fest. This is not surprising since the other two regional Pokémon from the 4th generation can be found at the other GO Fests.
The numerous Pikachu in the image are likely related to the Pikachu Outbreak, which will also be celebrated at the same time in Yokohama. Pikachu can be seen everywhere on the streets, and Pokémon GO has already participated in the celebrations.
Which Pokémon could become new Shinies? Based on the image, Squirtle and Bounsweet could be strong candidates. These two Pokémon are not rare, and their Shiny forms have not yet been released in the game.
What could happen for German players? If Squirtle and Bounsweet are actually introduced, they will also be released worldwide shortly thereafter.
At the last GO Fests, a new Shiny was frequently caught worldwide on the same weekend. This was also the case with the last Safari Zones. Recently, there has been an increased frequency of catching Shiny Pottrott.
Here lies the difference to the other GO Fests: The GO Fest in Yokohama is completely free. Although you still have to register for tickets, as was the case for Dortmund and Chicago, the tickets do not cost any money.
Additionally, the event will take place in 3 parks, which every other player without a ticket can also enter.
