In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, a cheater is currently making the servers unsafe. The problem: he makes the rounds unplayable and evades every ban. The players are really mad.
What kind of cheater is he? It concerns a player known in the community by the name Straiyan. According to reports on reddit, he has been cheating blatantly in the Ground War mode on Australian servers for over two weeks.
What does he do? The players have even provided evidence of his use of cheats or hacks. In videos, his victims have recorded the killcam, which clearly shows that Straiyan is cheating.
The videos show how he inhumanly quickly transitions from one target to the next and mows down opponents with a light machine gun in continuous fire. He doesn’t even hide that he is cheating.
The problem is: Cheaters are already a big problem in online games as they rob honest players of their enjoyment, and there have been blatant cheaters in Modern Warfare before. In this case, the cheater can end entire rounds in a short time, whenever he wants.
In Modern Warfare, you receive a nuclear bomb as a killstreak after 30 kills without dying yourself. This ends the round with a win for your team. For achieving such a feat, you should even receive rewards in the future.
In this case, however, that is a problem because Straiyan can accumulate the 30 kills in a short time without even having to see opponents. The above clip shows him at one point with 74 kills to 0 deaths and at the end with 127 kills to 9 deaths – a K/D of over 14.
He has the nuke within minutes and can end the round whenever he wants.
Community demands ban
That’s why players are so mad: Such players should actually be banned within a short period of time. The report function in the game ensures that such cases are automatically forwarded and dealt with by the support or otherwise penalized.
However, Straiyan evades this function and bans. He has been terrorizing other players for over two weeks now and, according to thread creator Notoriousrb, is said to have said: “Good luck banning me.”
He even mocks the victims and is not even a one-off occurrence. The reddit user BurntIQ has identified another cheater and also posted evidence of this online:
What does Activision say about it? A staff member from Activision’s official support has also commented on reddit. Under the name ATVIAssist, he thanks the players for showing the evidence and bringing attention to it, and he will forward it to the team.
Usually, such “witch hunts,” in which players’ names are publicly posted, should not take place in games. However, in this case, the players apparently see no other way to help themselves as reporting does not work.

There are new images for the upcoming Wastelanders update for Fallout 76. These show Bethesda the underground of the city of Watoga. A detail in these images is now awakening the desire for cars in players.

The year 2020 is just starting, but when it comes to World of Warcraft, I would prefer it to be over already – at least that’s how Cortyn feels.
The new year has just begun and usually, this is the time when one looks forward to the future with hope and positivity, hoping for the best and brushing aside negative thoughts. However, this time I simply can’t manage that when it comes to World of Warcraft. Even though Patch 8.3 and even the release of Shadowlands are on the horizon, I am extremely skeptical and wish that we had already left this year behind us. But let me explain.
Patch 8.3 is a flop for me, no matter what happens
I love the story of World of Warcraft. For years I have absorbed it like a sponge and could also be happy and accept rather controversial twists, knowing that the story does not develop in a direction many fans would have liked. I like what Sylvanas is doing. I find Anduin convincing, and I also find Jaina’s repeated concessions to maintain peace acceptable.
But Patch 8.3 Visions of N’Zoth can never meet my expectations. Because Patch 8.3 deals with the story of N’Zoth, one of the Old Gods. I like these “Cthulhu” influences in WoW, the Cult of the Shadowhammer, and all the associated visions of power, madness, and influence.
The old god N’Zoth has always been for me the ultimate mastermind, the brilliant evil that acts in the background and is never grasped. He was and is more significant to me than Deathwing, Illidan, or even the Lich King Arthas. I like manipulative characters who remain hidden, and I always knew: When N’Zoth appears, it is “for me”. Then it is exactly what I wanted to play, what I wanted to see and experience.
But Patch 8.3 cannot hold that. That N’Zoth appears as a foe and does not even get his own area is farcical to me. Instead, there is a “remake” of Uldum and the Vale of Eternal Blossoms. Added to that are alterations of Stormwind and Orgrimmar in the horrific visions, and of course the new raid Ny’alotha, which at least provides a glimpse into the Black Empire.
But that is too little. It is not enough to satisfy my hunger for “Old God” lore. It is not enough for me to see a lot of the Black Empire, to have one or two areas where I can look around in wonder and think, “This is it. This is what I’ve always wanted to see.”
I have been looking forward to N’Zoth for many years. And now that he is almost here, I don’t even want to see it because it already doesn’t satisfy me on paper. A new endgame zone the size of Argus would have been what I wanted. But instead, there are only “reheated” old areas.
I am fulfilling the perfect cliché of “complaining before fully experiencing something” – but I know myself and my expectations, which simply are not met in this case.
Shadowlands needs time – a lot of time
The beta and the release of Shadowlands do not make me optimistic for 2020, mainly due to the release of Battle for Azeroth.
A brief look back: The first tests of Battle for Azeroth started in February 2018, before the beta officially began at the end of April 2018 and more players were invited. The game’s release followed in August, only about 5 months later. The beta was so short back then that Blizzard couldn’t address or even respond to feedback.
This led to the Azerite system making its way from beta to the final game, even though it was criticized by a large part of the player base. It was extremely unpopular during the beta, and players pointed out the problems and that they wouldn’t be easy to fix back then.
We are still feeling the effects of that today, even though Azerite items have since changed significantly. Grinding is hardly necessary anymore, and a vendor for these items ensures that you always get what your character needs.
For Shadowlands, Blizzard – at least I strongly assume – will not repeat the mistake of a short beta. This time the beta will surely be more extensive, so there is enough time to actually implement player feedback and perhaps fundamentally revise 1-2 systems if they completely fail.
So I don’t expect a release in August 2020, but rather in November 2020 or December 2020 – with the option to push the add-on further back if fundamental problems are still not resolved. Blizzard has recently shown that they like to push their own release dates with Warcraft 3: Reforged. But I would prefer a good game to one that is urgently tied to a release date.
Battle for Azeroth came too early – it caused a lot of discontent.
The covenants of Shadowlands will be a problem
In Shadowlands, the covenants will be one of the major features. Players can join one of four factions and receive special abilities, unique soul bonds with NPCs, and other small bonuses. While it will be possible to switch covenants, it is intended to be associated with some difficulties. A covenant is meant to be a fundamentally permanent decision that is only altered in emergencies.
And this is exactly where I see the next big problem. This binding to a covenant would be no problem at all if it were only about cosmetic rewards. However, each covenant offers a special ability per class, meaning that which covenant you choose will affect your character’s performance.
This will likely lead to professional players changing their covenants depending on the current raid content to have the perfect answer for the current boss. This situation, in turn, will lead the community to begin viewing the decisions of professional players as the new “standard”, even if that makes no measurable difference for the average player.
I can already see the forum posts with the complaints: “I am no longer invited to Mythic+ because I chose Covenant X and not Covenant Y,” closely followed by the demand: “Covenants should be changeable at any time.”
Maybe I’ve just become a bit grumpy over the years regarding modern World of Warcraft, but I can’t help it. I have little optimism for this current year – and that’s rare when it comes to WoW. I usually get excited quickly and look forward to new things positively. But I just don’t believe we’ll see much of that before 2021 when Shadowlands is in full swing.
Shadowlands is rather reserved, brings little new
Additionally, World of Warcraft Shadowlands does not feel like a typical expansion, but rather like a big first aid kit. Shadowlands does not bring many pure “innovations”, but instead brings back content and mechanics that were part of WoW a long time ago. Or it removes unpopular systems. Here are just a few excerpts of things that are actually not innovations but merely improvements of existing content:
The leveling experience is being revamped. The maximum level shrinks from 120 to 60, and the XP gained within an expansion will also be adjusted to ensure a continuous gameplay flow.
Return of old abilities: Numerous abilities that have disappeared over the course of the expansions are coming back. They are part of class identity and are sorely missed.
Furthermore, Shadowlands does not introduce a new class, and there are no comprehensive reworks of character classes planned – just minor changes here and there, but nothing truly significant.

Only the game world and associated lore are fresh and new and hopefully can keep me engaged for a while.
But that will probably only happen in 2021, after Shadowlands has overcome its teething troubles, with which WoW expansions traditionally start.
Or to put it briefly: I am positive about World of Warcraft, but not for the year 2020.
But at least there’s still a small chance that I am wrong and in three weeks will say, “Okay, I was completely premature, Patch 8.3 is amazing.” But I don’t see that happening right now.

In Destiny 2, many Guardians are drawn to the Nightfall Strikes this week. The reason is a shotgun. We will tell you how to quickly get through the strike and explain why the weapon is worth it.
This is the weapon: The shotgun “Mindbender’s Ambition” belongs in the energy slot, requires special ammunition, and causes solar damage.
The pump is assigned to the aggressive archetype. Therefore, it has an excellent impact of 80. However, it also has a slow fire rate of 55, which increases after kills.

You can save a lot of time right from the start. Speed past everything with your Sparrow until you reach the large room with the platform and the Fallen Walker.
In the area with the two lowering platforms left and right, occupy both platforms simultaneously.
Use everything to gain control over the adds as quickly as possible. As soon as the mid-boss appears, deal with him and push forward.
The subsequent part can largely be skipped. Instead of turning right, jump straight across the platforms and continue towards the strike boss.
You cannot take down the boss (Fanatic) immediately. Focus on him each time he becomes vulnerable. When he becomes immune, do not waste any more ammunition.
Your main focus in this fight is not boss damage, but add control. Eliminate the hordes as quickly as possible (Arrow, Dawnblade, or Hammer) to make the boss vulnerable again.

At this point, I will go first again.
This MMO is my hidden gem: Over the years, one MMO has continually captivated me, even though I play it far too rarely: Trove.
The sandbox game from Trion Worlds is comparable to Minecraft. You land in a world made of so-called voxels that you can shape according to your imagination.
However, Trove focuses more on role-playing content. Thus, your character gets a class and can earn increasingly powerful equipment over time. Additionally, there are raids, a crafting system, and many crazy modes of transportation.
Trove amazed me especially with the variety of worlds and their thematic and very creative design. There are also worlds created by players. There’s plenty to discover here as well.
Only the very simplistic combat system never kept me engaged for long. That’s why I never invested as much time in Trove as I did in Guild Wars 2 or other MMOs.
However, for those who can find enjoyment in the colorful block world, who like to unleash their creativity and still want a bit more MMORPG feel than in Minecraft, the free-to-play MMO Trove could be a good alternative.

2020 has begun and Pokémon GO will surely hold numerous events. Our author Noah really wishes to see an event series return.
Which events are we talking about? I wish for the limited research to return. At the beginning of 2019, there were 3 limited researches, which were all absolute highlights for me.
Since it’s been quiet around the researches since March 2019, they can gladly come back in 2020.

What happened in the event? In the limited researches, the focus was on field research. The event Pokémon was obtained from different quests, with some luck even as shiny.
But there were also other bonuses around the quests. Special event spawns appeared, or there was even more stardust. All bonuses that were definitely worth it.
This is what made the event so cool: For me, the gameplay experience was simply something entirely new, which I found really good. Community Days are well known by now and are not really “special” anymore. The limited researches were different.
You had to try to complete as many quests as possible. Good throws, effective hunting, and smart time management led to success here. Everyone could also play at their own pace. I wanted to move quickly and grabbed every quest in the city. Other players could take it slower and completed only half as many quests.
Maybe Niantic ran out of potential Pokémon that could be released as shiny. Perhaps the developers also just wanted to prevent more criticism.

Could the researches return? It’s not out of the question. By now, there are also many new Pokémon, and Gen 5 has not been fully released yet. It’s quite possible that Niantic brings a new Pokémon, just like Perlu did back then, through such an event.

Many developers of WoW had played EverQuest before their work. This MMORPG essentially had no instanced dungeons. Although there were world bosses, these mainly existed in dungeons that were located in the open world. A large castle was not separated from the game world by an instance portal, but all players could fight over the bosses and enemies in the same game area. This is why such “non-instanced dungeons” were also huge, so that many players could experience them simultaneously.
WoW brought the solution for everyone: The developers of WoW recognized this problem and understood what impact it had. Many players would never experience dungeons because it involved a large effort. Not only did you have to find a group, but you also had to contest bosses and loot with other groups. Separate dungeons for each group – that is, instances – were the solution to the problem.
The Deadmines were one of the first dungeons and already quite extensive.
Dungeons were planned as a one-time event: This inspiration from EverQuest and D&D also meant that dungeons were actually planned as one-time events. The developers simply did not assume that players would visit the dungeons more than once or twice and then become bored. Therefore, many dungeons were huge, had many branches or optional bosses, so the exploration took a lot of time and felt more like a grand adventure.
This, however, stood in stark contrast to the fact that the best loot came from dungeons. Here, the developers apparently were not “on the same wavelength”, so dungeons were quickly seen by players as something repeatable to farm gear.
Small dungeons quickly became popular: However, the shift already began in Classic. After the release of the Scarlet Monastery, the developers noticed that dungeons in a smaller format, divided into different wings, were well-received by the community. This continued later in the Shadowlands – this dungeon was also divided into individual areas.
The Monastery came with different, short wings. It was extremely popular.
This new style was fully adopted in “The Burning Crusade”. Both the dungeons of Hellfire Citadel and those of Auchindoun and the Fortress of Storms are essentially individual “wings” of a huge complex.
So when one says that dungeons in modern WoW are small because the developers want to please the current player base, then this is only partially true – Even in Classic, Blizzard quickly took this direction.
Old dungeons were pruned: Many of the original, gigantic dungeons were pruned over the years. For instance, Maraudon was split into individual wings, Scholomance was reduced and made more linear. While there are still a few exceptions to the rule, most dungeons have since shrunk – because the creators now know that players love to run them multiple times.

Sometimes players love large dungeons: However, although the design philosophy regarding the size of dungeons already changed in Classic, there is a group of players and developers who like huge dungeons. That is why from time to time there is a “megadungeon”, such as the Return to Karazhan or more recently Mechagon. These dungeons have more bosses than usual and are often larger, with optional bosses or different routes.

What does this have to do with the Twitch streamer? One of the most popular LoL streamers is Ashkan “TF Blade” Homayouni. TF Blade has 740,000 followers on Twitch. He is among the top 5 most-watched LoL streamers worldwide.
TF Blade has been with Team Liquid since 2019 and is contracted as a “substitute player” and content creator.
However, it is not intended for them to actually play in the league. Although TF Blade is an outstanding player in LoL Solo Queue – professional games are something else entirely.
But the current emergency situation has led TF Blade to prepare for his debut in the professional LCS.

User RageDriver2401 suggested that a “John Rambo” card could be introduced in Modern Warfare as a special reward. Another user added to this idea by noting that it would be a perfect reward for a Nuke.

Have there been such rewards before? Yes, previous games in the “Call of Duty” series featured special, animated emblems and calling cards for Tactical Nukes.
It was therefore expected that such rewards would also make it into Modern Warfare, and players in the thread are excited about the announcement.
What is a Tactical Nuke? To achieve a Tactical Nuke, a player must get 30 kills in a row without dying. However, only kills with weapons count, not with killstreaks or vehicles. So it’s not an easy task.
When a Tactical Nuke is activated, a 10-second timer begins, which ends the game with a massive explosion. In almost all game modes, this automatically leads to victory for the faction that activated the Nuke.
Why is such a reward interesting? Tactical Nukes are a special reward for skill in a match. However, after the victory, there is nothing to prove that one has achieved such a Nuke.
A special emblem or card would change this, as players could permanently showcase their success.
