Crimson Desert: Defeating Antumbra’s Sword – With These Tricks You Can Take Down the Boss in the Sanctum of Absolution

Is there a trick to defeating Antumbra’s Sword more easily? Yes, you can defeat him significantly easier if you interrupt his attacks with the light reflection of your weapon.

In particular, the attack where he slams his sword into the ground and sends out several blades can be interrupted in this way. You can also interrupt his teleport and create attack windows for yourself. However, make sure to wait for a truly opportune moment, and avoid if in doubt, as hits here really hurt.

Use L1 + R1 for the light reflection and gather additional light with L1 (on PC use CTRL + left mouse) to blind him. This interrupts his combos and allows you to use a brief window to deal as much damage as possible.

Preparation

To be prepared for Antumbra’s Sword, you should not go into the fight unprepared. If in doubt, retreat after clearing the sanctum before confronting him.

The following things are more than helpful, and you should ideally bring them:

• As much high-quality food as possible, so you can heal enough and correct mistakes
• Enough Strengthening Herb Pastes to revive yourself if necessary, especially if you were almost finished
• Level your focus ability in the Spirit Path
  • Also make sure to unlock the ability to slow time in focus
• Improve your equipment as much as possible

Attack Patterns

Antumbra’s Sword has some attack patterns like every opponent in Crimson Desert that repeat constantly. Some can be blocked, others cannot. As a general rule: Avoid if in doubt and take your time.

The following attacks will be thrown at you by the boss:

• Wide strike with 3 illusions that additionally send out waves
  • Here, it’s best to simply avoid all 3 attacks and try to block the initial strike
• Ground strike with several heavy waves
  • You can interrupt this attack by blinding him as soon as he lifts the sword
• Black fog with teleport attacks
  • You can interrupt this combo by timing your window correctly after a teleport and blinding or blocking him
• Circle attack with illusions
  • Also, try to avoid here as blocking or interrupting this attack is quite difficult
• Red shimmer
  • This combo hits hard and cannot be blocked or interrupted – so avoid it as much as possible

This all sounds easier said than done and may require some practice. So don’t give up and bring enough healing items to allow yourself the time to succeed, even perhaps on the first try.

If you have trouble finding the right windows for blocks and light reflection, your focus is your best friend. You can activate it by pressing both sticks at the same time or the X key on PC. Once you have leveled the ability, you slow down time and can catch the right moments more easily.

Crimson Desert is a game that doesn’t really hold your hand. A lot is explained little or not at all. While this encourages experimenting and puzzling, it can also lead to quick frustration.
