However, the trainers are not convinced by all changes. Especially because of the partially missing animation, some players have concerns.

The release of the new map “Caldera” at the start of the Pacific Update in Call of Duty: Warzone is imminent. However, you can already gain comprehensive insights into the new map: Various content creators have already gone on an exploration tour.
What’s happening in CoD Warzone right now? On Wednesday, December 08, the “Pacific Update” marks the start of the first Warzone season in combination with the new game Vanguard. The highlight: The new Caldera map, for which we already have a large overview here.
The current launch trailer for the Pacific Update has already highlighted a bit of what you can expect in Season 1. Now, however, many content creators have also shared their first impressions of the map and show firsthand how it all is designed.

IceManIsaac describes the map as “quite dense” with relatively few open areas. There are trees everywhere that could be used for cover. And places like the docks offer plenty of cover opportunities: “There’s cover everywhere on the map!”.
He often emphasizes how satisfied he is with the design decisions of the developers: “It’s as if the developers played the place and then asked themselves ‘if I get stuck here, what can save me in this area?'” And if they didn’t have an answer, something was changed.

CoD Warzone shows trailer for the Pacific update with planes and gameplay
When does Caldera start? The update starts on December 08 at 6:00 PM and brings not only the new map but also the remaining contents of Season 1 of CoD: Vanguard and Warzone. Here you will find the current roadmap for Vanguard.
At this point, however, only players who have purchased CoD: Vanguard can start on the new map. If you only play Warzone and do not own the new main title, you will have to wait 24 hours.
This results in the following situation:

Non-buyers: Caldera access on 09.12. at 6 PM

The Elder Scrolls Online did not receive the same level of attention in 2021 as it did in 2018 and 2019. Although there were again 4 major updates with new content, players simply lacked real highlights. In this article, we at MeinMMO reflect on the year 2021.
What happened in 2021 in ESO? The Elder Scrolls Online released several major updates in 2021 at the familiar pace. A major patch was released approximately every 3 months:
The beginning was marked by the DLC Flames of Ambition. This was released on March 8 and introduced the two new dungeons “The Cauldron” and “Black Drake Villa”. Additionally, the update completely overhauled the Champion Points.
In June, the new expansion Blackwood was released. This must be purchased in addition to the base game and brought the new large area of Blackwood Forest along with associated story content. There were also first glimpses into the realms of Oblivion through the Oblivion portals found in Blackwood Forest and the special feature of companions.
At the end of August, the dungeon DLC Waking Flame followed. There were, as usual, two dungeons as well as further adjustments to the Champion Points and changes to the PvP area Cyrodiil.
Lastly, the DLC Deadlands was released on November 1, bringing the realms of Oblivion as a new and continuing area from Blackwood, along with new story content and new mythic items.
In terms of the sheer number of updates, there was no difference compared to previous years. However, not every change from 2021 was well received by players. This led to some criticism and overall reduced interest in ESO.
Who writes the summary? Alexander Leitsch has been actively playing ESO since 2019 and has closely followed the expansions Greymoor and Blackwood for MeinMMO. With tips and corrections, MiezeMelli, an official member of the ESO Stream Team and freelance author at MeinMMO, assisted him. She has invested thousands of hours into ESO over the past few years.
Fans criticize companions and too few innovations for veterans
What is being criticized? Already at the announcement of Blackwood, many ESO veterans expressed their concerns. Because the “big” feature of the expansion was the companions, which seemed to be aimed more at new players.
The companions are two NPCs, one of whom can always stand by your side in battle when summoned. You can unlock companions through a quest and then skill them as a tank, healer, or damage dealer. They can be deployed in the open world and in instances, but not in PvP. However, they take up a player slot in PvE groups.
Several weeks after the release of Blackwood, it became clear that veterans could hardly make use of the companions. Most of the content they were able to handle alone or had their fixed groups for dungeons and trials. Additionally, many found the implementation was weaker than the companions in SWTOR or the heroes in Guild Wars 1.
Instead of companions, the last expansions brought content such as a new class (Necromancer in Elsweyr) or an entirely new game system with new equipment (the antiquity system and the mythic gear from Greymoor). Both were innovations aimed at veterans. The companions, on the other hand, are only an interesting feature for inexperienced players. Those who have been playing ESO for a longer time will use them only out of habit or not at all.

Too little variety and too much grind with the new Champion Points
What is problematic about the new Champion Points? With the first DLC, the Champion Points were completely overhauled. The number of points was increased, and alongside smaller passive effects, larger stars were built in, from which only 4 abilities can be actively selected per tree.
According to the developers, this was supposed to solve several problems:
The progress should become broader
Players should have to make decisions for their builds
The performance should be improved since, under the old system, every passive effect had to be recalculated with each skill use
However, these changes were not well received by many players or were at least seen as unnecessary adjustments. Even after the change, the same passive effects as in the old system were chosen. There is also no real build diversity since all player types (tank, healer, magicka damage dealer, stamina damage dealer) tend to rely on the same 4 stars.
There are even larger criticisms of the new system, for instance, because after 1,500 Champion Points, there was an indirect cap introduced. At that point, you have 4 stars for all trees and all remaining passive effects maxed out. Remaining points can now only be spent on stars that you don’t want to take with you. The green skill tree is also criticized for having too many useful effects turned into stars.
Many veterans would have preferred the development time to be used for other areas such as PvP or performance instead of for Champion Points that were functional prior to this.
The PvP has not received any real innovations for years
What has happened with PvP? Not much. Throughout the year, developers experimented and deactivated some proc sets. Additionally, new sets for PvP were released.
The latest adjustments have at least meant that PvP became a bit more fun again. However, no new PvP content or incentives to play have been given. Similar content was missing in previous years, which has now frustrated PvP fans significantly.
PvP is one of the most enjoyable content in ESO, but there have been no real innovations for a long time.
What about performance?
What do players criticize about performance? Performance has been a topic in ESO for years. In 2019, some changes were announced that were partially implemented in 2020, such as memory management, quick loading of environments and characters, frame rate improvement, and a completely new group-finding system.
However, there were also new performance issues with the Greymoor expansion in 2020.
While Blackwood itself did not introduce any major problems in 2021, there was also little overall improvement in performance. Some players have expressed the desire for ZeniMax to continue working on promised adjustments in 2022.
New sets, a trial, and the areas as highlights
What was well received in ESO in 2021? Not everything about Blackwood was negative. Many players enjoyed the story surrounding the mysterious deaths. The general excursion into the content of Oblivion also provided many nostalgic moments, like when visiting the realms of the dead or the city of Leyawiin. Visually, these areas were also a delight.
For veterans, the highlight of the expansion was probably the new trial Felshain. It is considered challenging in difficulty and also offered some graphical highlights, including the lava stream at the final boss. There were also some useful drops from the boss, making replayability better than in the trial in Greymoor.
With the latest DLC Deadlands, the collections of sets were also revamped, allowing you to no longer receive old set items as drops. Additionally, the armory for saving builds was introduced, which was also positively received.
ESO stands well at the end of 2021, but not outstandingly
2021 has seen a small setback for many veterans in ESO. The overall revisions to the game were less significant than in 2020, and some decisions made have been criticized, such as adjustments to the Champion Points. Moreover, many players missed a real highlight, since the companions seem to appeal more to new players than to long-time fans.
However, it should be noted that 2020 and 2021 were challenging years due to the pandemic. The developers at ZeniMax had to transition to remote work and develop new updates from there. Under these circumstances, ESO is in a significantly better position than many other MMORPGs.

At the beginning of the story of Endwalker, the latest expansion of Final Fantasy XIV, you will receive a very important item. Its origin lies in a Greek myth that everyone has heard of.

Like many other games, FFXIV extensively draws from various real-life areas. Concepts from philosophy, art, and literature as well as famous historical figures can be found as names of NPCs or places.
However, the developers most frequently rely on various mythologies and religions of the real world. From the god Odin to Hindu deities like Shiva, Garuda, and Lakshmi, to Susanoo from the Japanese Shinto tradition.
Accordingly, the most important item from the new expansion Endwalker also has its origins in mythology.
What item is it about?
After Hydaelyn has been silent with the Warriors of Light in Shadowbringers for many patches, there are finally some conversations with her again in Endwalker. You see her original form as Venat and during the first quests at level 80, you also receive a small gift from her.
This is a special flower that initially has no distinct name. However, it has the ability to change its color depending on the feelings of the people around it.
The gray color of the flower reflects the depressed mood of the people around it.
The item is considered extremely important by Hydaelyn. It is meant to accompany the Warrior of Light on their journey and point them in the right direction. And so, it is carried for a long time while trying to find out what the special flower is all about.
Eventually, players learn during their visit to the moon that the flower is named Elpis. And this name carries a lot of symbolism, as it originally comes from Greek mythology.
Elpis and Pandora’s Box
The myth of Pandora is one of the best-known stories of ancient Greece in Europe. Long ago, Zeus commanded the smith god Hephaestus to create a beautiful woman out of clay, who would be sent to Earth among the people.
From other gods, she receives gifts like musical talent, charm, and enchanting speech, but also curiosity and impetuosity. They name her Pandora, and she is presented as a gift to Epimetheus, the brother of Prometheus.
Contrary to the warnings of his brother, Epimetheus marries Pandora, but she brings a dangerous wedding gift with her. Zeus gives her a box that contains all the evils of the world and hope. Overwhelmed by her curiosity, Pandora opens the box, releasing the plagues.
Fun Fact: The original version of the myth speaks of a jar or vessel of Pandora. It was called “Pithos” and was usually filled with wine, oil, or grain. The transition to a “box” occurred due to a mistranslation. The Greek “Pithos” became “Pyxis” in Latin, meaning “Box”. This version then spread.
In the end, only hope remained in the box, and her name was Elpis. In Greek mythology, Elpis is also depicted as a goddess who appears as a young woman holding flowers or a cornucopia in her hands.
She is now the only benevolent goddess still among humans, while the evils ravage the world and make life difficult. All others have retreated to Olympus with the end of the golden age, which ended with the release of the evils.
And while the poet Theognis laments that the world and humanity have turned bad, he also states that they can still trust in Elpis. For hope will offer them comfort and help in dark times.
What does it mean for FFXIV? The concept of hope for a better tomorrow runs through FFXIV like a red thread. Again and again, the player character and their NPC friends fight, hoping that the world will be a little better because of it. The story of FFXIV constantly reminds that although there is much bad and evil in the world, one should not give up hope.
Whether during the Dragon War in Heavensward, the retaking of Doma and Ala Mhigo in Stormblood, or the rescue of the first shard in Shadowbringers. The characters fight and hope despite vanishingly small chances and the terrible losses they suffer along the way.
In Endwalker, this hope takes the form and function of the flower, namely to guide the player character on the right path to prevent the end of the world.

What is this about? The default settings when you start Call of Duty: Warzone are not optimally tailored to the fast-paced gameplay of Battle Royale. Although it depends on your preferences, there are several settings that you should tweak. These include:
Visual filters for better visibility
Movement settings for faster actions
Control settings for safer handling
Audio settings: Adjustments for better detection of nearby enemies
With a few adjustments, you can gain an advantage over players who make no changes. In such a large and chaotic Battle Royale like Warzone, even the slightest advantage can help you win.

Settings in Warzone that you must make
Let’s start with essential settings that you should definitely change, or you will have a noticeable disadvantage:
1. Motion Blur: OFF
2. Environmental Motion Blur: OFF
3. Mini-Map: Square, no rotation
4. Audio settings: Depth Boost / Home Cinema
What about Motion Blur? In the “General” menu, you will find the option for “Motion Blur.” This is a visual filter that adds a blur effect to your image.
Set the motion blur to 0.00, as such cinematic filters in your image are not really useful at all.

What should I do about Motion Blur? Turn it off! Just like with motion blur, you will get a filter applied to your image here, but only when you move.
This filter distorts your image and makes it harder to recognize enemies while moving or turning. You can find this setting under “General” as well. Here you will find “World Motion Blur” and “Weapon Motion Blur.”
What can I do with the Mini-Map? Since the Update 1.17, you can change the Mini-Map from “Circle” to “Square”. This gives you a nearly 20% larger map.
Also very helpful for orientation when you get calls from teammates: Disable the rotation of the Mini-Map. This way, you will always see exactly which direction you are moving on the Mini-Map. You can also find this option under “General”.
What do other audio settings do? This pertains to the footsteps and movements of nearby enemies. By focusing the audio output on the frequency bands responsible for the enemies’ footsteps, you can hear the enemies better as they sneak around you.
Settings for small advantages that can make a difference
The following settings should be considered as they can provide small advantages. However, these settings also require a little adjustment.

What changes with the Use/Reload Behavior? With this small setting, you can loot faster, use doors, and perform other actions more quickly. To use or pick something up, you will only need to “Press” instead of “Hold”.
However, it can be a bit of an adjustment, especially if you have been playing with the default setting for a while. You will find this option under “Controller” – for players on PC, “Reload” and “Use” are generally already on different keys.
How does the Slide Behavior change? Similar to the Use/Reload Behavior, you adjust the control here from “Hold” to “Press”. When you press the “Crouch” button during a sprint, you will directly slide. This saves time and feels right. This setting also belongs to “Controller” or “Keyboard & Mouse”.
Also, pay attention to your keybindings on PC. “Prone” and “Slide” are assigned to 2 different keys.
With a small setting, you can slide faster and respond better.
Why should the auto-weapon switch stay enabled? You save a little time when switching weapons if your entire bullet reserve is exhausted.
This setting is already enabled by default and should remain so. You will find it under “Controller” or “Keyboard & Mouse”. If you have a different one of the best weapons in Warzone as your secondary weapon, you can often take down your opponent.
What does Automatic Forward provide? “Battle Royale” players may be familiar with this setting, as several competitors of Warzone offer this option.
If you press “Forward Run” twice quickly, your character will automatically continue running. This allows you to relax your fingers briefly while you look at the map or discard something from your inventory without stopping. Depending on the system, you will also find this setting under “Controller” or “Keyboard & Mouse”.
What does disabling the parachute deployment do? If you always open your parachute manually, you can reach your target much faster when you want to get to a point near the starting plane. However, it takes a bit of practice to get the timing for opening right. It should happen as close to the ground as possible.
When landing, you can wait until just before hitting the ground to open the parachute. Find a balance between the risk of a painful impact and the safety of landing unscathed.
Especially at the beginning, you should practice in the preparation rounds or start a Heist match to test the mechanics for a few minutes.
If you play with a mouse, for example, you don’t have to worry about the vibration function. Here are a few settings that are not universally applicable but depend on the platform, your preferences, and input devices.
How should I set the vibration? Disable this option. The vibration function is a nice feature for controllers but can also be disruptive. If you don’t want to miss out on the feedback, it doesn’t make a huge difference. However, in some situations, the shaking while aiming can distract you, causing you to miss the crucial shot.
What can I do with the triggers? Map the fire/aim buttons from the back triggers to the front ones. The buttons are quicker to press as they have a shorter travel distance.
This saves you a tiny bit of time when firing and aiming. You can change this under the menu item “Controller” in the first section “Button Mapping Presets”. You will see the setting above the controller graphic. You don’t need to change the “Button Mapping Presets” for this.
However, if you have buttons on the back of your controller, do not switch the triggers. It will be much less comfortable if you fire with the front buttons.
The settings for swapping triggers are somewhat hidden.
What is the best button layout? This is something everyone has to decide for themselves, but the rule is: The less you take your thumbs off the sticks, the better. Because every time your thumbs are doing something else, you can’t react immediately. Especially for actions like:
Reload
Jump
Crouch/Slide
There are controllers that have buttons on the back, which solve the issue. For PS4 controllers, you can even get an attachment that adds some extra buttons on the back. But even without special hardware, you can make changes here:
Tactical preset – Swap melee with crouching/prone/sliding
This way, you assign crouching to the right stick and swap the less frequently used action “Melee” with the more often used action Crouch/Prone/Slide.
Bumper Jumper (tactical) preset – Here you also swap melee for crouching and additionally “Tactical Equipment” with jumping. You then jump/climb with one of the triggers.
For the Playstation, there is an attachment that gives you a few extra buttons.
What should I do with the aim assist? Players with a controller receive aim assist, which mouse users cannot use. There are 4 settings here that you should use depending on your play style. The default is strong, but if you want to understand how aim assist works, check it out here:
How should I set the buttons? Check out which commands you can assign to the mouse or easily reachable buttons. If you have been using the default setting so far, there is definitely room for optimization here.
You can, for instance, assign primary or tactical equipment to “Mouse Wheel Press” – or get a mouse with extra thumb buttons. Unlike the controller, you have the option to configure each button as you like.
What is the Field of View? If you play on PC, you can adjust the “Field of View”. This enlarges the visible area directly. You can see much more of your surroundings, but the image does distort a little.
Especially sprinting and quick movements will seem faster to you, even though they are not. If you can get used to it, try setting the “Field of View” to the highest setting. But that’s a matter of taste. At least set the FoV a bit higher (90 or 100), and you will have an advantage.

What should I do with my sensitivity? Opinions here vary widely. Some swear by high values to react quickly – others prefer low sensitivity for better aiming. Choose what feels better for you and consider the following points:
Mouse – Pay attention while playing to the range of movement on your mousepad. Sensitivity should be set so that the longest movement you make with the mouse accomplishes a full turn of the character. So set it so you can turn around without having to readjust.
Controller – Start high and slowly work your way down if this setting is too fast for you, or start low. If you then notice that your right stick crashes into the edges when aiming, you can go higher. Try to find the point where the stick rarely touches the corners while aiming.
ADS Sensitivity – Try using a value just below 1 – for example, 0.9. This provides a little aim boost when you aim down sights.
Aim Reaction Curve
What can I adjust with the aim reaction curve? Here you can determine how input devices react to your commands. On consoles, you will find three selectable presets, whereas with a mouse, the settings can be adjusted a bit more individually. Have some fun experimenting here. You will find these options directly under the sensitivity settings.
Depending on the input device, you have different settings options.
What should I do with a mouse? There are three settings for mouse acceleration, filtering, and smoothing under this menu item. For unfiltered input, set the sliders to 0 and disable smoothing. This gives you direct control without any interference from the game.
However, sometimes it’s worth experimenting with some settings. If you have lower sensitivity, use acceleration. This increases sensitivity during fast mouse movements. If you have become accustomed to a certain latency in mouse movement, play around with smoothing and filtering a little.
What do controller settings do? Of the 3 settings “Standard”, “Linear”, and “Dynamic”, the last two are recommended, depending on preferences. “Linear” is the most direct input method, while “Dynamic” introduces a slight delay. Standard is the slowest, so you should definitely try one of the other options.
