Streaming on Twitch or other platforms is no longer just a hobby for many people, but also a livelihood as a professional activity. Nevertheless, there are individuals who exploit the live broadcasts of some streamers to play pranks or gain an advantage for themselves.Such an encounter also recently happened to the Canadian xQc, when he was banned due to the unfair play of a viewer in DayZ.
Why was xQc banned? On June 20, xQc decided to play the Steam hit DayZ during a live stream. After a gunfight with another player, xQc was erroneously banned when the admin tried to ban a so-called stream sniper.
What is a stream sniper? A stream sniper is a person who watches a live broadcast of a streamer while playing in the same match or on the same server. This is often done to gain an unfair advantage over the streamer and to know what they are doing, how they are playing, and where they are located.
Stream snipers use the knowledge gained from the stream to find an easy target in the streamer and, for example, effortlessly secure an easy kill.
Stream sniping is banned in many games and on many servers, is considered unfair, and is often punished with a ban.
Which streamer is involved?
Félix Lenglet is a French-Canadian streamer who streams under the name xQc.
He is one of the most popular streamers on Twitch and is also familiar with bans. He has been banned on the streaming platform so many times that he even had to undergo “streamer therapy.”
In addition to gaming, he is also known for gambling streams. Just in May 2022, xQc revealed in a podcast that he lost 1.75 million euros in the casino.
Lenglet managed to win the gunfight, but when he wanted to search his opponent for usable loot, the streamer suddenly got kicked from the game. A message on the screen stated that he had an unstable connection.
When he rejoined the server, an admin from the DayZ server teleported to xQc’s character and informed him in voice chat that he had identified a stream sniper 100%. The admin referred to Lenglet as “X,” a short form for his ID xQc.
Before the admin could finish his sentence, xQc found himself back in the survival game’s menu again. This time, the message appeared: “Banned from the server admin. Validity period: permanent.”

The streamer was bewildered and wondered what had happened. Despite the message that he was permanently banned, he could rejoin the server.
The scene repeated itself, and xQc got kicked from the server again, receiving the ban message once more, and he joined the server successfully for the third time: the admin spoke with Lenglet and clarified the incident.
What was the admin’s explanation? The admin team identified a stream sniper in the player with whom Lenglet had the gunfight. They intended to ban him, but something went wrong. As a result, Lenglet was wrongly banned, which the admin wanted to rectify.

Even though Lenglet certainly experienced a brief moment of shock when he saw the ban message in the survival game, he can be glad that the situation could be cleared up so smoothly and the stream sniper did not take away his enjoyment of the game.
In general, it seems that Lenglet is currently on a winning streak. In another stream, the Canadian streamer opened loot boxes in the tactical shooter Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and scored big without realizing it.
By now, you can buy graphics cards from AMD and Nvidia below the MSRP. However, not all offers are necessarily good, even if they initially seem tempting.
Those who wanted to buy a graphics card in recent months often had to pay significantly more. Dealers charged much more than the Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) indicated, and at times one could pay thousands of euros on eBay for an RTX 3080. Several reasons contributed to this:

What are cryptocurrencies? These are digital currencies that are traded online. They are anonymous and usually decentralized. The so-called blockchain technology is considered secure. The downside is that currencies can fluctuate significantly in value.

Why are miners selling their hardware? The main reason is the significant depreciation of cryptocurrencies. If you look at Bitcoin over the last 6 months, its value has dropped from over 40,000 euros per Bitcoin to under 20,000 euros. The currency has lost more than 50% of its value.
Additionally, Ethereum is transitioning to a new procedure, which is also unsettling many users who have invested in mining hardware. Because under Ethereum 2.0, it no longer matters to have many fast graphics cards.
The price of Bitcoin has dropped significantly over the last 6 months.
Therefore, many miners are now selling their hardware to at least offset their losses. Many miners invested money in graphics cards when they were still very expensive. The online magazine Tom’s Hardware reports that some large mining companies are currently selling hardware and Bitcoins to raise money again (via tomshardware.com).

However, you should be cautious when seeing such offers. The good deals often have a catch if you’re not careful. A similar scenario could already be observed exactly a year ago, and prices were similarly low:

How good are such offers really? Opinions vary widely on whether one should buy a used graphics card from miners. After all, the GPUs are said to have always been used in such a mining rig and have mined cryptocurrencies for months under load. And that continuously and without interruption.
However, miners do not treat their hardware any worse than gamers. Professional miners are, like gamers, also careful to treat their hardware well. After all, the hardware is the basis for their income. If you are dealing with professionals, you can usually be confident that the graphics cards work flawlessly. Where is the real risk then? Whether you buy from a miner or another person: Normally, you receive no warranty on your graphics card when buying privately. It is therefore your responsibility, even if the graphics card fails two months later. If you don’t want to take that risk, you’ll pay the normal price at the dealer. And as of now (June 22), that is around 150 euros. Because when buying from a dealer, you get the normal manufacturer’s warranty and additionally the dealer’s warranty. The warranty also applies to refurbished products.

How hard is Elden Ring?
Hard but not unfair: All games from FromSoftware differ in key details but rely on the same tough rules:
A hefty combat system with slow animations
Hard bosses that demand everything from you
High requirements for your reaction speed when dodging and parrying
Quick deaths due to low health points
The loss of important resources upon repeated deaths
Elden Ring builds on all these elemental features of the developer. It is undoubtedly a hard and demanding game.
However, it is important to emphasize that Elden Ring is never unfair. Because the animations of you and your opponents are slow and clear, you always know what caused your death. This way, you can learn the right timings to dodge, attack, or parry.
This doesn’t mean that everything runs smoothly 100% of the time. Sometimes the camera behaves a bit erratically, and other times the hitboxes of enemy attacks can be hard to judge. However, these situations are clearly the exception, not the rule – and they happen under predictable circumstances.
In general, Elden Ring can involve a lot of trial and error: You fight against a boss and painfully learn the attack sequences. With each new attempt, you can react and attack better. Until you have reduced the opponent’s health bar to zero.
Every boss fight is thus a kind of “dance” for which you must learn the right sequence of steps. Depending on your strengths and build, this can work quickly or not at all. But there is no situation in the game for which you cannot prepare and adjust. This is also why there are plenty of examples of players completing FromSoftware games without armor and at level 1.
Can I change the difficulty in Elden Ring?
Are there selectable difficulty levels? No, you cannot change the difficulty in Elden Ring. However, you can make the game easier for yourself.
How do I make the game easier? A particularly popular and strong tip is to rely on the coop feature against a hard boss. This allows you to summon up to 2 other players into your game world to help you. How this works, we explain in detail here:
With the help of up to 2 additional players, the bosses become much easier. They can usually only focus on one player, allowing the partners to safely wail on the boss.
However, you should note that the player who invited the coop partners must stay alive. The summoned teammates can perish without the boss fight ending. In Dark Souls 3, the bosses also had 10 – 15% more HP for each summoned character, but they did not deal more damage.
If you don’t feel like playing with strangers or are playing offline, you can also summon NPC characters at certain locations. These are often not quite as good as real players but generally serve as a distraction and additional source of damage. This way, you can also defeat a particularly tough boss more easily.
More tips for challenging moments: If you want to complete the game purely on your own, you don’t have to keep running against the boss until you break your head through the wall. The game offers you many options to improve your character and your skills as a player.
If you’re stuck on a boss, it’s worth exploring the open world. You might find a powerful weapon that can smash the boss in no time. Especially if you find an elemental weapon that the boss is weak against, you have significantly better odds.
Finding out a boss’s elemental weakness is generally a very good tip. With certain items, you can temporarily give your weapons an elemental buff. For instance, your ordinary axe can inflict fire damage, which a boss might be allergic to. So don’t be too stingy with these items!
You can usually derive a boss’s weaknesses from the context, read them from player messages, discover them through trial and error, or simply look them up online.
Speaking of player messages: This feature from other FromSoftware games is also present in Elden Ring. Other players will diligently post messages in the world that you can read in your game.
Sometimes these are nasty troll attempts, but most of the time, they are really good tips. Pay attention to the ratings of the messages, observe if it might be a prank, and use the information to your advantage.
Also, a new item in Elden Ring can be very helpful: the Spirit Calling Bell. When you ring this bell, you can summon different spirits to assist you in battle. The creatures you can summon depend on which ashes you have found. If you don’t miss an important NPC, start with the ashes of 3 wolves.
