In Pokémon GO the new season named “Season of GO” will start on June 1, 2022. We at MeinMMO have looked at what content, spawns and bonuses you can expect in the coming weeks.
What season is it? In Pokémon GO, seasons change every 3 months in a regular rhythm. Each of these revolves around a specific theme, which is reflected in the selected spawns and events.
On June 1, the Alola season ends and the Season of GO begins. As Pokémon GO has now announced on their website, you can again look forward to numerous Pokémon alongside many events and bonuses.
The focus will be on getting back outside, exploring the surroundings, and interacting with friends. This is especially evident in the bonuses planned for the season. We have summarized what they are below.
When does the new season run? The Season of GO begins on June 1, 2022, at 10:00 AM local time and runs until September 1, 2022, at 10:00 AM local time.
All events for the Season of GO
As you may know from past seasons, there will be a lot of events during the Season of GO as well. Right at the start of the season, the big Pokémon GO Fest 2022 is waiting for you. The following events are also already known:

During the Season of GO, you will encounter changed spawns both in the wild and in the eggs. With a bit of luck, you might even come across one or another shiny specimen. All Pokémon that will be available as shinies are marked with a (*) for your reference.

Other Pokémon: As Niantic shows in their trailer for the upcoming GO Fest, you can also expect the mysterious hedgehog Pokémon Shaymin as well as the Ultra Beast Anego, a completely new type of Pokémon during the Season of GO.
All bonuses and specifics for the Season of GO
Of course, you can again look forward to one or another bonus in the upcoming Season of GO. Interacting with other trainers will play a significant role in the new season.
The following bonuses will be available in the new season:
- Lure modules last 1 hour
- When spinning at PokéStops, you receive a guaranteed gift
- Every day, you receive an additional special trade
- You receive an extra candy when trading
- A guaranteed XL candy when trading
- Raids with friends give you increased bonus damage
- Your own Pokémon deal more damage in remote raids
Additionally, a change in XL candies is expected, and the GO Battle League starts a new round with Season 11. This brings you new cups, such as the Fossil Cup, Summer Cup, and Catch Cup.
Changes in XL candies
In the past, trainers could secure the special XL candies starting from level 40. You need these if you want to power Pokémon up to level 50. With the start of the Season of GO, access to XL candies will be lowered.
For this reason, starting June 1, 2022, you can earn the valuable candies starting from level 31. You can obtain them with a bit of luck by catching Pokémon, sending them, or through trading monsters.
