The developers of the MMORPG Lost Ark have provided an outlook on some highlights that players can expect in the upcoming months in a roadmap for 2023. These include a Witcher event, a new continent, and new activities as well as the next class.

February: Anniversary celebration and new continent Rowen
February in Lost Ark brings two major events: the first anniversary of the launch in the West and the introduction of the continent Rowen.
To celebrate the first anniversary, special events will be planned to celebrate the successes of the past 12 months. Details about the events will be announced at a later date.
Now to the new continent: Rowen is rich in valuable Sylmael jewels and was long inhabited by a flourishing civilization before it fell into oblivion. Now the factions Preigelli and Liebertane are fighting for supremacy in Rowen and control over the Sylmael jewels. Players can choose a side after the world quest (item level 1445 required) and compete against the opposing faction in PvP mode. There are also new quests and dungeons in Rowen that offer special rewards
The war between the factions begins in February, but the competition will become even fiercer in March when the Battlefield of Tulubik is released.
March: Battlefield of Tulubik
In March, the Battlefield of Tulubik will appear in Lost Ark. Tulubik is a desert region left behind by the ancient civilization of Rowen. On the Battlefield of Tulubik, you can compete in PvP battles against other players and gain control over strategically important areas.
It offers various PvP game modes, such as “Capture the Flag” and “Team Deathmatch.”
There are rewards for participation and achieving accomplishments, such as fame and experience points, which contribute to improving your character level, as well as special cosmetic items.
96 players (48 vs. 48) will battle on the RvR battlefield for the conquest of bases and secondary objectives will assist.

April: Class Artist, hard mode “Chaos mode” and new raid “Cave of Twilight”

The Artist class has various abilities that impact damage, defense, and support. She excels at taking down her opponents with combined attacks and combos.
Beyond the new class, the hard mode “Chaos mode” will also be introduced, aimed at experienced players who want to test their skills. The Chaos mode offers tougher enemies and greater challenges than the normal difficulty level. Also new: The new raid “Cave of Twilight”. The raid is an instanced PvE challenge designed for groups of up to 20 players. In the Cave of Twilight, you must contend with powerful boss enemies and make tactical decisions to succeed. The raid will be available in various difficulty levels to accommodate players of different skill levels. The rewards for the raid “Cave of Twilight” include rare items, equipment, and other valuable loot.
The developer of Lost Ark has announced that further updates and innovations will be released in the coming months. These include new cosmetic items, changes in game balance, events, bug fixes, and much more.
The game “Police Simulator – Patrol Officers” was released on Steam on November 10, 2022, and has become one of the most successful new titles of November. With 88% positive reviews, it is well-rated, though some reviews raise eyebrows.
What kind of game is this?
The Police Simulator: Patrol Officers (€30, Steam) sends players to the fictional US city of Brighton. There, players can fulfill their duty as a police officer.
Players can chase graffiti artists, catch traffic violators, or search suspicious individuals. Strangely, the game seems to have a penchant for having police officers find “human teeth” during searches.
As reported on Steam, the police simulator was one of the most successful new releases in November 2022, alongside games like Sonic: Frontiers, Zero Sievert, or Crysis 2 Remastered (via steam).
Reviewers Use Game as a Means to Criticize the Police
What stands out in the reviews? With 88% for the reviews, the game is viewed positively. However, some user tests seem to paint a rather cynical picture of police daily life. This applies not only to the USA but also to German-speaking reviews:
A user in English writes: “I shot a civilian and was suspended for a day, just like in real life” – seemingly a reference to the fact that police in the USA often enjoy a bonus in court.
A user in German writes: “The first civilians I came across, I immediately pepper-sprayed on suspicion because of their very noticeable gait and then arrested them.”
In English a review: “Started my first shift. Saw a streetwalker, stopped her. She seemed nervous, asked for her ID. I decided to search her. She ran away. I shot at her with my stun gun. Found a knife and human teeth, so I arrested her. Called for backup and they threw her in the police car. Clean the streets, one by one.”
In English: “Shot someone for littering, got fired. 10 out of 10.”
Again in English: “Doesn’t let me run over people or commit police brutality. Not realistic at all 1/10.”
In the reviews, one can breathe a sigh of relief that some people are just virtually playing a police officer and have not become one in real life.
In the reviews, there is otherwise agreement: The game has some interesting approaches, but it still lacks content and the missions quickly repeat after a while.
A real police officer writes in his review: One can tell that the developers had their hearts in the right place, but they lack expertise in detail. They should urgently ask someone who actually knows what the everyday life of a real police officer is like, not just making it up.

“No Natural Resources Today”
Reactions: The trailers for new updates of FFXIV are generally received positively by the community. However, there was disappointment regarding the video for patch 6.3, which many pointed out on Twitter.
The goddess Nophica, who appears as one of the bosses in the second part of the 24-player raid “Myths of Eorzea”, is described in the lore of FFXIV as “wealthy.” She is the goddess of fertility and is depicted in the few artworks that exist of her with large breasts (see title image).

Clearly, the developers knew exactly what they were doing. Even during the interviews leading up to the producer stream, it was assured that Nophica’s appearance would not disappoint fans.
During the stream, Global Community Producer Toshio Murouchi commented that it would be “Not Safe For Work (NSFW)” to show Nophica from the front in the trailer. This means that she looks too sexy to be shown in a trailer that people could see in public places (for example, at work).
In the first part of the 24-player raid, many players fawned over the gods who appeared as bosses. Nald’Thal and Azeyma received particular attention. The second part of the raid will likely evoke similar reactions.
The main patch will be released on January 10. Several smaller patches will follow over the coming months, delivering additional parts of the content. So not everything will be released at once, but in pieces.
Especially with content such as the Manderville weapons, the tribe of Loporrits, and the Deep Dungeon, fans should expect them at a later time. This type of content has always been released a while after the main patch in the past.
