The 3 games tell the story of Artyom, who lives in a Russia devastated by a catastrophe. All remaining humans live in a large subway complex and try to survive. Life is hardly possible on the contaminated surface, as it is not only toxic but also inhabited by mutants.

What makes the Metro series so special? The 2 big highlights of the series are the story and the atmosphere. Being in the cramped environment of the Moscow subway creates a dense atmosphere. The many characters trying to continue their lives in one way or another intensify this feeling.

But the surface is not a saving environment, rather an even greater danger than staying below. While the first two parts are mainly set underground, Metro Exodus tries to break out and offer an open world.

The gameplay is oriented towards survival horror games. Weapons are not high-tech products, and you have to manage the ammunition carefully. In the Metro games, ammunition is not only for shooting, but also for trading as currency.

All 3 games have received good ratings and stand at Metacritic between 76 and 83 points. The user ratings for Metro Exodus are also positive aside from complaints about Epic exclusivity on PC:
