Throne and Liberty – The Better Lineage?
Setting: Fantasy | Developer: NCSoft, Amazon Games | Platform: PC, Playstation, Xbox | Model: Unknown, probably Free2Play
What kind of game is this? TL was originally announced as Lineage 3 or Lineage Eternal and was even supposed to be in an iso perspective, similar to Lost Ark. However, it was completely revised from the ground up in 2017, to become a “true next-gen MMORPG”.
The new version is now supposed to appeal to a wide audience. It offers action-packed fights in third-person view, eliminates annoying features like autoplay, and promises an interesting mix of PvE and PvP.
What makes it so interesting? Throne and Liberty offers a diverse character editor, with only humans as a playable race. It completely forgoes classes and allows you to determine your play style through weapons and armor. Here you can choose from 9 weapons, including two crossbows, a two-handed sword, and wands.
The big highlight is the weather system, which is said to influence terrain and combat. For example, during rain, certain areas get flooded, making them unreachable. However, lightning strikes are more effective during this time. Conversely, fire attacks deal more damage under sunny conditions, and arrows fly faster in strong winds.
Apart from these features, the MMORPG focuses on:
An open world that does not require loading screens – apart from some instanced dungeons. At launch, there will be 19 areas and 8 cities.
Quests, exploration, world bosses, and guild raids for PvE fans.
Outpost battles, PvP events in the open world, and large battles for a castle.
How has the development gone so far? The game was announced in 2011 as “Lineage Eternal”. At that time, it was a hybrid for PC and mobile. NCSoft was supposed to lead this into the future. However, the first beta in 2015 was not well received by testers.
The Koreans pulled back Lineage Eternal and later announced Project TL. It received the new Unreal Engine 4 and a completely new management team.
How likely is the release in 2024? Almost 100%. NCSoft launched the game on December 7, 2023 in Korea. There is already a fully translated English version available. It’s just up to Amazon to bring the game to us in the West.
However, as initial tests have already taken place and the versions in Korea and the West are supposed to become identical in the long term, Amazon will not take too long to bring Throne and Liberty to us.
A group of Horde players has a brilliant idea to achieve wealth in World of Warcraft Classic. Their assassination service even accepts unusual special requests that are to be fulfilled while killing a player.
How does their assassination service work? It is quite simple to book the group’s service. Interested customers can submit the name of the desired Alliance player, and the bounty hunters set out to kill the character. Afterwards, they return with a proof video and demand their money for it.
The players wait until the victim logs in. To check the target’s online status, they verify it with their own Alliance accounts. Once the victim leaves a safe zone, the PvP hunt is open.
To know the exact location of the player, the group invites him to the group or uses the /who command. Once they have tracked their target, they coldly take it down.

Assassination service includes several services
The group even accommodates special requests from customers. These include, for example, the following things:
Hard-camping until the character respawns at the graveyard
Emoting, when customers want to see special emotes at victory
Other griefing tactics that take away the fun from the victim
Targeted ambushing, stalking, and killing of players can be counted as griefing in the worst case if it goes beyond limits. In case of doubt, this could lead to account penalties, which is why we would not recommend this method for imitation.
How is the service received in the community? Many players are amused by the service (via reddit.com). However, some are bothered by the group’s griefing service, as it diminishes the fun of the game.
A representative member of the agency states that their service has certain limits. Once a victim respawns at the graveyard, they would leave it alone. Moreover, they have never tagged mobs and unleashed them on players.
Some users definitely take away that they will no longer accept anonymous group invitations from now on.
Can I currently book the service? Unfortunately, it is not possible to contact the assassination group at the moment. They have taken a break from killing and will take a break until Phase 2 of the Season of Discovery begins.
For the group, the service has not been worth it anyway. They have not earned a fortune with it and had only a few orders per month. Moreover, they often did not complete most orders as they were on a different layer than the target. The service was existent purely for role-playing purposes.
WoW Classic currently has a major problem with gold:
A dungeon causes frustration and annoyance in World of Warcraft – groups break apart and often the instance isn’t completed at all.
In World of Warcraft, there are many endgame contents, but the most important one in Dragonflight is the “Mythic+” area. New and old dungeons are equipped with affixes and a time limit to allow new difficulties and to drop really good loot.
However, since the introduction of Mythic+, there have always been keys and corresponding dungeons that are referred to as “dead keys.” And week after week, this leads to frustration and problems.
Which dungeons cause problems? If one remembers the first season of Dragonflight, everyone loved the dungeon “Shadowmoon Burial Grounds.” The dungeon was manageable even with several wipes, and even major mistakes allowed players to get through with over 10 minutes remaining on the clock. The situation was different for the Ruby Sanctum – even one mistake could mean that the dungeon was lost and the group already fell apart.
Murozond is unpopular – currently even stronger than it was back then in its old form in “Cataclysm.”
In the third season of Dragonflight, the role of the “hate dungeon” basically switches to a different candidate each week. While at the beginning of the season, the “Evergreen Grove” was especially torturous on Tyrannical, the “Throne of the Tides” quickly followed suit. Now, “Murozond’s Rise” is the most despised dungeon – and there are several reasons for that.
What makes Murozond’s Rise so annoying? The dungeon has several mechanics that make it pretty exasperating for the player base.
On one hand, the dungeon is not clearly structured. It is not obvious which path to take, which bosses still need to be defeated, and which path is the correct one. There is a lack of markings and announcements from the game. While one can compensate for this through practice, there is another peculiarity that causes frustration:
The “gauntlet.” Here, heroes must evade a constant barrage of enemy attacks while reaching a target point, without getting hit even once. If one fails, it goes back to the starting point. While this is a “breather,” it offers completely different gameplay compared to what one is used to from other dungeons. Since the progress only continues if at least one hero completes this task, it can easily take 3, 4, or even 5 minutes before someone succeeds in activating the saving portal.
Especially “randoms” often have little patience here – if the portal isn’t opened after a minute, the group will disband.
In principle, the criticism from the PTR has been confirmed. The dungeon “Twilight of Eternity” is a great experience as a cohesive mega-dungeon – but offers little joy as a split Mythic+ variant.
Can this be backed up with numbers? Yes. When looking at the evaluations of completed dungeon runs, it becomes clear that Murozond’s Rise stands out significantly (via bestkeystone.com). Only 77% of all keys are successfully completed here – that is over 10% worse than the next dungeon, Throne of the Tides, with 87%.

For comparison: The currently easiest dungeon, the Kronsteig estate, has a successful completion rate of 94%.
The fact that Murozond’s Rise is so far behind is, by the way, not only due to the current combination of affixes – they are actually quite simple. In every single week since the start of season 3, Murozond’s Rise has had a value that hovers somewhere in the 70% range. Even smaller nerfs and adjustments haven’t helped.
Which dungeons do you have problems with? Where could Blizzard improve and how can they prevent certain dungeons from always being unpopular?
In the 3rd season of 7 vs. Wild, musician Joey Kelly (51) was supposed to compete with documentary filmmaker Andreas Kieling. However, that didn’t happen. He ended up on the island with Jan Schlappen, and there was a very special team dynamic. Viewers of the survival show are now discussing this.

Joey Kelly, once a street musician and now a world star, is a well-known adventurer: Therefore, it made sense for him to participate in 7 vs. Wild.
His partner was originally supposed to be nature filmmaker Andreas Kieling: The two were considered favorites to win the show.
But Kieling was eliminated due to misconduct before the start, so Joey Kelly went into the wilderness with substitute participant Jan Schlappen (25). Schlappen is a Twitch streamer and YouTuber, known primarily for his “freerunning” and “parkour” content.

8 Hours of Hard Work on the Deserted Island
What kind of dynamic did they have? Joey Kelly is considered a “mentality monster”: He focused solely on building a shelter. Unlike other participants who built free-standing wooden structures and finished quickly, Joey wanted to build a “cave.” That required a lot of strength and effort.
Jan Schlappen started the show with some motivation, but that quickly faded. The 25-year-old repeatedly complained about boredom and how the inactivity was weighing on him. In the clips that showed him and Kelly, he increasingly took on a passive role, only listening and seeming to suffer in silence as Joey explained things.
On Day 7, Schlappen pulled the emergency brake: He felt he was learning nothing about himself, losing himself as a person, and wanted to be entertained and motivated again. Kelly asked him to at least wait until the next morning, but Schlappen left the island.
Could Joey Kelly have done something to motivate Schlappen?
This is now the discussion: On reddit, there is a discussion about how much responsibility Joey Kelly, as an experienced adventurer, has for Jan Schlappen dropping out of the project, and whether he overwhelmed the survival novice Schlappen with his idea of survival.
There are various explanations:
Some clearly blame Joey Kelly. He focused solely on cave building, did not search for food, or explore the island. That has nothing to do with survival and is “pure hard work” – any partner would have dropped out under those circumstances.
For others, Jan Schlappen is the clear problem: He became addicted to his phone, did not prepare for the challenge at all, and showed from Day 1 that he was not interested in the project. No one prevented him from looking for something to eat or fishing.

This is what the critics of Joey Kelly say: One user on reddit says: “They arrive on the first day and basically just sit on the beach. No scouting, no shelter building, no fire, no searching for sleeping places, nothing at all. When it gets dark, they throw their sleeping bags on the wet gravel and sleep there. And on Day 2, Joey gets the idea to dig a cave.”
It is said that Jan initially contributed significantly. However, on Day 3, after hours of digging and with no food, he lost motivation. One cannot blame him for that. He is a survival novice. Other participants like Renzmann did not just “dig for hours without food,” but told Joey Kelly early on that his plan was not working.
Another user says: Joey explained to Jan that he didn’t need to know anything because Joey had all the survival skills. However, he did not use them at all and did not ensure food. The plan might have worked for Kelly and Kieling “starving and distracting,” but not for Jan Schlappen.
Others say: Joey is simply not a team player, but a solo fighter. He was so focused that he could not see what was going on around him.
This is what the critics of Jan Schlappen say: Schlappen is mostly accused of having the wrong mindset. He was constantly bored and the phone addiction kicked in. He did not prepare properly for the show and is still childish.
One cannot expect Joey to play butler for him and look for food: “Joey is not a babysitter, and Jan is an adult man.”
Another says: It is almost disrespectful to participate in such a show, not bring any skills, and be a burden to your teammate. The two did not harmonize at all.
The Harmony Clearly Did Not Add Up

As an example of the lack of harmony, a scene is cited where Jan Schlappen talks about how great he thinks of Joey Kelly and how close they have become.
However, Joey Kelly greets him afterwards with “Lars!”, which fans are still making fun of.
The other participants – and Jan Schlappen himself – can also have a good laugh about the scene.
It is notable that the teams that have made it to the end all had a harmonious relationship with each other and were able to communicate well.

Why was the role so difficult for him? “I felt like I was trapped in a time warp between Roger [Moore] and Sean [Connery],” Brosnan explained in the interview.

1. Don’t venture out too early
In the story, you start in a snowy environment and have your first camp there. Of course, the adventurous players would love to grab their horse and explore the world right away, but that would have bad consequences.
That’s why you shouldn’t leave the first camp too far: Don’t leave the first camp to go on a big exploration tour. The cold weather will quickly take its toll on you.
2. Loot, loot, loot – Here’s how to earn money in RDR 2
Right at the beginning, you should definitely loot the enemies after you take them down. Money is an important resource that is very scarce at the start.
So loot everything and everyone in the first shootouts, even if your gang members say you should hurry.
Those who loot find valuable items: Don’t just walk past the corpses, but take the time to search them. This also includes crates, chests, shelves, and other storage options.
When you reach Chapter 2 and explore the world in many regions, your paths may also lead you into the mountains. As mentioned before, the cold will get to you.
So take warm clothes with you if you are riding into the mountains. The clothing can be stored in the saddlebags of the horses.
Plan your clothing choices before a trip: Traveling to the mountains in light, thin clothing is not a good idea.
4. Look for weapons in the world – Valentine Doctor
When you are in the world of Red Dead Redemption 2 and visit the impressive locations, you should also get new weapons. Some firearms at the gun shop are initially locked.
How to unlock new weapons? Raid houses or shops controlled by enemy gangs. You can find such shops by keeping your eyes open as you walk through the towns. Often, weapons can be unlocked there.
Where to find weapons? As a first point of contact, you should visit the doctor’s house in Valentine. If you look through the back window, an activity will start that rewards you with a revolver. If you go through the door into the doctor’s back room, you will find another locked door. With a bit of pressure, the doc will let you in.

5. Always carry a horse reviver with you
Once you have stabled or purchased your first horse, new features open up to you. This includes gear for horses.
Always carry a revival kit with you: If you don’t want your beloved horse to die, be prepared. Always carry a survival kit with you when you go on trips. These can be found in general stores and stables. This will help your horse with serious injuries.
If you aim with a weapon and press up on the D-Pad (the directional pad), Arthur will aim directly into the air. If you then shoot, Arthur will fire a warning shot.
Why should you give warning shots? With such a warning shot, you can intimidate NPCs or scare off wild animals.
Are you in an unfavorable situation where aiming over one shoulder is totally in your way?
Here’s how to change the shoulder view: While aiming, press left on the D-Pad (directional pad). This will switch the shoulder that is aimed at in third person.
When you ride through the vibrant landscape of Red Dead Redemption 2 on your horse, you will occasionally encounter NPCs with problems. Some just want small favors from you, like treating their snake bites.
These advantages come to you when you help NPCs: If you help NPCs, they will reveal important locations to you. For example, hidden weapons lie there. Some NPCs will only reward you when you next meet them in town.
9. The Companion App helps you – Companion App
Rockstar introduced a companion app simultaneously with the launch of Red Dead Redemption 2. It works on Android and iOS devices and is designed to assist you in your adventures.
Am I doing something wrong without the app? No. The Companion App is optional and can make your open-world adventure easier. However, it’s not a beginner’s mistake not to install it.
Just because yellow dots are displayed on the map, you don’t have to run there right away. Red Dead Redemption 2 plays best when you take your time. Take your time, explore everything.
Instead of rushing to the next point, you can first take a look at how the town is built. Are there sights or characters that seem strange to you? Also check out the surroundings.
Take your time to look around, without tunnel vision: Don’t just walk stubbornly from one mission spot to another. Play at your own pace and see what the game has to offer.
But listen if RDR 2 advises you against something
In various situations, RDR 2 clearly shows you what you should better avoid.
Some situations are intentionally difficult: Right at the beginning, you have high bounties on you in certain areas. Bounty hunters are actively looking for ways to earn money with your head. The quietest shot from your gun could draw their attention.
Often, you realize in such situations that it is better to return at a later time.
11. Use camera angles to your advantage – Change camera
In Red Dead Redemption 2, you can choose between three different third-person cameras behind Arthur. In addition, there is the cinematic camera and first-person view.
On the view button (touchpad on PS4, view button on Xbox), you can switch between the different perspectives. If you like playing in third person, you can change between close, medium, or far camera distances.
Switch to first-person view when looting: If you want to loot specific items from a shelf, it’s usually easier to switch to first-person view. This way, you can precisely select what you want to loot or pick up.
This is how you start the cinematic camera: For a bit of cinematic feeling, the cinematic cam is offered. You start it by holding down the view button. While doing this, hold A (on Xbox) or X (on PS4) to keep your horse or carriage on track.
12. Be anonymous when you mess up – Put on your scarf
If you do things in Red Dead Redemption 2 that are against the law, you should conceal your identity.
This is how you put the scarf on your face: Put on your bandana before such actions. You can find it in the item menu at the bottom left. This way, at least your face won’t be associated with the deeds you commit.
13. Remember the best weapons when getting off your horse – Weapon slots
Every time you get off your horse, you should check the saddlebags. This is important so that you are prepared for whatever may come.
When you are next to your horse, you can open the saddlebags with L1 or LB. Then select your loadout.
What weapon slots are there? You have the choice of:
One-handed weapons like pistols or other sidearms
Fists
Knives
Larger weapons on the back – like rifles or bows
Throwables like lassos or dynamite
Larger weapons over the shoulder – the 2nd slot of this type, also for rifles and bows
Make the right choice for your loadout: When planning a mission, you already know roughly what to expect. Just a small hunt for wildlife? The bow is probably enough. If a bigger fight is coming, you should equip both slots for large weapons with rifles for different distances. Like a shotgun and a repeating rifle.
The global version of the MMORPG Lost Ark is lagging behind the Korean version. The developer team from Smilegate wants to align both versions a bit and is releasing the January update, which promises “a ton” of quality-of-life improvements and balancing changes.
What changes will the update bring? In about a week, the new content for Lost Ark is set to be released (via Lost Ark):
The difficulty level “Hellish” will be added to the Legion Raid Brelshaza.
With “Lai Lai Island,” there will be a new adventure island.
Quality-of-life improvements will be added.
Players can look forward to balancing changes.
With the January update, all balancing changes present in the Korean version will be incorporated into the western version. However, players in the West will have to make some concessions regarding quality-of-life improvements.
Because here we get the version that corresponds to the state of fall 2023 in Korea. All subsequent QoL improvements will likely be implemented in the rest of the world at a later date. This is intended to further close the gap between the two versions.

What players can expect from Lost Ark in the new difficulty level
The highlight of the update is the new difficulty level for the Legion Raid Brelshaza. Instead of the regular rewards of a Legion Raid, such as equipment and materials, there will be titles, achievements, and more.
To use the difficulty level, you need an item level of 1,560. Additionally, you must showcase a complete build setup in the book of coordination.
Unlike the other Legion Raids, the “Hellish” raid will not include all gates. Instead, it will focus on the last two gates of the original raid.
What else is planned for Lost Ark in the coming months?
In February, Lost Ark will celebrate its 2nd anniversary. The Arkesia Festival promises new co-op quests where we can earn tokens. Additionally, the fight “Valtan Extreme” is set to be released.
For March, the global release for the “Breaker Class” is planned. This is the male version of the Scrappers. With “Light of the Shiskal,” new story quests will also be coming.
April will bring two new raids and a fresh gear system. With the “Transcendence Gear Progression System,” players can level up and improve their current gear.
Unfortunately, the responsible parties behind Lost Ark have only revealed their plans until April 2024. What will happen with the MMORPG afterwards remains open.
In South Korea, the MMORPG company Nexon has been fined approximately 8.1 million euros. This is the highest fine ever imposed by the responsible commission: The gaming studio had deceived players for 10 years regarding the odds of loot boxes in the MMORPG MapleStory. The chances of some rewards were said to be as low as 0.
What were the accusations against the MMORPG? The responsible commission came to the following conclusion on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 (via kedglobal)
In the MMORPG MapleStory, loot boxes, called Cubes, were introduced in May 2010. What came out of the loot box was evenly distributed at that time.
However, in September 2010, the probability structure was changed so that the rewards that players really wanted became rarer. The developers stated in August 2011: Nothing had been changed about the probabilities.
But between August 2011 and March 2021, the probability structure of the Cubes was even changed so that certain rewards no longer appeared at all.
In addition to the failings in the MMORPG MapleStory, there were also irregularities in the online game “Bubble Fighter,” which were also punished.

What does Nexon say? Here, it is stated that they humbly accept the fine but reserve the right to appeal the decision or take it to court.
What stands out? The MMORPG MapleStory was already involved in a scandal regarding drop probabilities in 2021. At that time, it was revealed that a “random algorithm” was not random at all. This was a huge scandal in South Korea: Players fled from the MMORPG and ran to Lost Ark.

The company Nexon had no control and overview of its systems in the MMORPG MapleStory.
For years, there was no transparency.
