In Black Desert Online just had the biggest event of the year, and the announced changes are significant.
What kind of event was it? The Heidel Ball is an annual event for Black Desert Online, where the developers announce major changes to their game and set the stage for upcoming updates.
This year, there were also major changes that are set to significantly alter the grind in the game.
Here you can see the new class of Black Desert Online:
Bye Bye Level Grind
What changes are there? The changes are so numerous that we can only cover the highlights here. Starting with the big level change. Until now, there was no real level cap in Black Desert Online.
Although the leveling phase became so slow that professionals weren’t far ahead of normal players, that system belongs to the past.
In the future, a new maximum level of 75 is to be introduced. This is set to start on October 7. Prior to that, the max level will be 70 from August 12. The level system is also set to change so that a player who plays 2 hours a day will reach the maximum level of 75 in about 2 months. The endless grind will be abolished, but in comparison, it will still take quite a while to reach the maximum level in BDO.
In the endgame, players will be at level 66. Here, game modes such as “Black Shrine”, “Red Battlefield”, “Node Wars”, and “Conquest Wars” will provide the necessary experience points, even without the traditional monster beating.
What else is coming? Another major change point is the Hyperboost feature. In the new system for new and returning players, they will receive a character with 730 gear score after completing the combat course at the “Olvia Academy”.
Additionally, there are some pieces of equipment for a quick start in the game. The developers want to bring the player base closer together.
Another major change allows you to switch your character in-game to another from your “family” with the push of a button. The characters can also be sent out for gathering, processing, or fishing – while you can continue playing.
Other features planned (source mmorpg.org.pl):
- Edania Part 2 – new storyline, new areas and bosses
- “Creta” and “Aperon” – two new jewelry sets for high levels
- Extensive expansion of the “Oceans” content: new ships, equipment, a new island, new features
- Integrated PvP leaderboard
- Content planner – a system that facilitates planning and managing activities in the game
- Treasure Logbook – a journal that allows you to easily track your progress and methods for obtaining rare treasures
- Integration of life skills – all tools, artifacts, and handcrafted jewelry can be managed in their own window and easily exchanged
- Marnis Combat Analyzer – an integrated tool for combat analysis
What do you think about the abolishment of the mega grind in Black Desert Online? Do you think it was an integral part of the MMORPG or does it play better without it? Feel free to write it down in the comments! The new class also took center stage at the Heidel Ball 2026: One of the best MMORPGs on Steam introduces a new class, focusing on revolvers and grenades
