A shooter on Steam throws you into the desert with other players, but like in the sci-fi film Mortal Engines, you have a mobile fortress. In a new trailer, the developers reveal when SAND: Raiders of Sophie is set to be released.
When is the game supposed to be released? Do you remember Mortal Engines? Even though the film by Peter Jackson was not particularly well-received, there are many fans of the book series. This is likely due to the concept: In a post-apocalyptic scenario, people are on mobile fortresses trying to survive.
This concept is also embraced by the shooter SAND: Raiders of Sophie. In a new trailer, it was finally revealed that the game is set to be released in March 2026. In addition to Steam, the game will also be available on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Although it is an extraction shooter, you will not only fight with conventional weapons.

What kind of game is SAND: Raiders of Sophie? The game world takes place in a rather desolate post-apocalyptic desert. In an alternate timeline in 1910, humans return to a ravaged planet to gather resources and other riches.
At its core, the game is a PvPvE extraction shooter, similar to ARC Raiders. Alone or with other players, you must explore the world and gather resources, but you must also defend yourself against zombies or other players. For that, you have not only classic weapons at your disposal.
The highlight of the game is said to be the mobile fortresses, which strongly resemble Mortal Engines. You must steer and repair these yourself. With equipped cannons, you can attack the fortresses of other players. As is usual for extraction shooters, you must also escape before other players can take you out. If you die, you lose everything.
How is the new trailer received by the players? Among the comments on the YouTube videos, the majority seems finally excited about the release, after all, the game was announced a few years ago. There is only one skepticism in the comments regarding the performance. It seems that in the beta and in playtests, according to the comments, it was not always stable.
Whoever needs other extraction fodder until March should check out ARC Raiders. The extraction shooter has been enjoying good player numbers since release.
