The design of the weapons in Monster Hunter World disappointed many fans. Since Monster Hunter Wilds is heavily inspired by World, the community feared that this problem might continue. Capcom is now sharing early designs of the new weapons, showing that they have taken the feedback to heart.
What was the problem? In Monster Hunter, everything revolves around equipment and weapons. Players desire original designs that not only clearly show the monster they hunted but also distinctly set themselves apart from others.
These criteria were apparently missed by the weapons in Monster Hunter World, as fans complained through various channels about the uninspired appearance (via Reddit, X.com). Players sometimes referred to the weapons as “90% bone/iron weapons with monster parts glued on” (via Reddit) and that many weapons looked too similar. Thus, the design of the weapons in Monster Hunter World quickly became a meme that the developers seemingly took to heart.

How did the developers heed the feedback? In a recent post by the developers on X.com, proud designs of some weapons that can be crafted from parts of the new monster Uth Duna are presented. The designs shown include the Energy Blade, Bow, Dual Blades, and Longsword.
The presented designs exhibit a far greater level of detail than their counterparts in the predecessor and are already noticeable for their colors and the distinct indigenous influences. In particular, the Dual Blades stand out for their shape, which is based on Polynesian war clubs.
How is it received by the community? Fans are celebrating the designs across various channels and sharing their joy (via X.com, Reddit, Instagram). Many are already reporting that they can imagine applying these designs over other weapons because they find them so beautiful.
