Frostbags are valuable materials in Monster Hunter Wilds that you will need later for various equipment. However, unlike honey or melting stones, Frostbags are not found in nature; instead, you must defeat a beast: a Hirabami (see title image).
MeinMMO explains where you can find Hirabami and what you should pay attention to in battle when you want to collect Frostbags.
Monster Hunter Wild: Fighting Mirabami and Collecting Frostbags
Where can you find Frostbags? You can only find Frostbags with Hirabami. These are large beasts that you can encounter in both the Ice Shard Cliffs and the Ruins of Wyveria. You can fight Hirabami even with a low hunter rank. Therefore, you do not need to have completed the main story yet. Hirabami can be encountered for the first time in Monster Hunter Wilds.
Since Frostbags are located inside Hirabami, as they are organs, you cannot directly search the map for Frostbags. Instead, you must mark the monsters on the map in order to fight them later. Since Hirabami are quite large, they are easy to spot on the map.
Tips for fighting Hirabami: Hirabami can fly and hold onto the environment with its large tail. The beast uses ice attacks. Therefore, items with ice resistance are advantageous. Otherwise, Hirabami has the following strengths and weaknesses:
- Locations: Ice Shard Cliffs and Ruins of Wyveria
- Resistance: Ice
- Elemental Weaknesses: Fire and Lightning
- Status Weaknesses: Poison, Sleep, Paralysis, Explosion, Stun, Fatigue
- Weak Point: Head
Additionally, there is a chance that you will receive Frostbags at the end of the hunt as part of a “Target Reward.” However, the chance is “only” 23%.
