It’s time for our MeinMMO format “MMORPG News in 5 Minutes”. We summarize the most important news about the best genre in the world. You can expect an exciting playtest, many updates, the end of an era, and some construction sites in WoW Midnight.
Highlights of the week:
- In Scars of Honor will soon have its first playtest, with the largest number of interested participants to date. The test is set to run from April 30 to May 11. More info can be found on Steam and in the test trailer on YouTube.
- Elder Scrolls Online is currently preparing for the first season in 2026 and not only changes its payment model but also expands its versions.
- MeinMMO demon Cortyn wondered in a new column if the creators of World of Warcraft know why the housing community actually plays: With housing, WoW has suddenly forgotten one of its greatest strengths – but: the complaints helped: WoW reduces housing costs by up to 93%
- The “Stop Killing Games” initiative takes the next steps and was able to speak with Members of the European Parliament. At the same time, more is supposed to happen than just the offline mode.
- With Midnight, World of Warcraft has received a new expansion and all classes have undergone a major overhaul. MeinMMO editor Benedict Grothaus has taken another look at a new class for the addon and used a helper tool from Blizzard – with surprising, but also frustrating results.
What else happened? On March 19, 2026, Crimson Desert will be released as the quasi-sequel to Black Desert. The open-world adventure was originally supposed to be an MMORPG as well but evolved into a pure single-player experience during development. We went on a quest to find out how much MMO is still in Crimson Desert.
The launch trailer of Crimson Desert gets you ready for the upcoming release:
The end of an era in Lost Ark
What happened with the major MMORPGs:
- In WoW: Midnight fishing is stressful because there are also fights. But you can easily turn them off with a trick.
- Farming honor can be tedious in World of Warcraft. Now it’s even harder, and newcomers are the ones suffering.
- A nasty exploit in crafting in World of Warcraft has catastrophic consequences. The entire crafting system could be ruined by this.
- In WoW Midnight, you return to northern Lordaeron to protect Silvermoon and especially the Sunwell from the invading void. This Sunwell has often been the target of destructive forces and was even literally walking on Azeroth for a while. Players, however, bitterly comment: we won’t hear much about that in Midnight.
- As much fun as the current expansion WoW: Midnight is, there are many small issues in Azeroth right now. Part of the community misses the old Blizzard polish and highlights this with an example that immediately stands out.
- Those searching the waters in the Immersang Forest can find a secret in WoW. A drowned prince awaits.
- On March 11, a new update brought the end of the Kazeros story to the Lost Ark servers. This marks the end of an important story chapter that has accompanied players since the launch. You can find the extensive patch notes on playlostark.com.
- The Producer’s Letter LIVE Part 91 for Final Fantasy XIV was released on Friday, March 13. The focus was primarily on Patch 7.5. The event was broadcast on YouTube and Twitch. You should find the summary shortly on forum.square-enix.com.
- A new update for Black Desert improves the War of the Roses and continues the anniversary party. You can find the patch notes on playblackdesert.com.
