Marvel has finally released a first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday showcasing several important characters. We see not only new heroes and villains but also the return of the arguably most important Avenger.
After a long wait, Marvel has finally released a first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, and fitting with the previous films of the group, many heroes and villains are present.
We finally see the X-Men, who were hinted at in a teaser, and we can also catch a first glimpse of the main villain of the film, Doctor Doom. Additionally, Marvel showcases various actors from the last two MCU phases and the return of an icon.
The Formation of an Alliance
What do we see in the trailer? As the trailer suggests, Thor seems to be gathering many heroes from his universe to fight against the powerful Doctor Doom. We see several familiar faces from the last films:
- The new Avengers, led by Yelena and Bucky
- Shuri as Black Panther and the warriors from Wakanda
- Shang-Chi, fighting against the mutant Gambit
- Namor, the villain from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
- We also see a concerned Loki
At the same time, familiar universes seem to be blending. The Fantastic Four land from their universe in the well-known Wakanda, and the mutants also find a way into the classic MCU universe. This was already hinted at in The Marvels. Iconic X-Men like Professor X, Magneto, Mystique, and Cyclops can be seen.
The great villain Doctor Doom seems to be a significant problem for all universes, as Thor himself states in the trailer that he has fought alongside warriors who were much stronger but died against threats that were less frightening than the current villain Doom.
For fans of the MCUs, there is at least one hopeful reveal at the end that many fans have been anticipating: We see Chris Evans as Captain America grabbing Mjölnir from Thor.
Finally Mutants in the MCU
What does MeinMMO editor and Marvel fan Nikolas Hernes think about the first trailer? The trailer has already made me happy with the shown mutants, as I’m excited to see X-Men action again and then also in the MCU. Otherwise, I find the trailer still a bit vague.
In my opinion, they could have shown Doctor Doom a bit more, but nonetheless, the first trailer was able to build anticipation, and I am very curious about how Marvel plans to bring all these universes and heroes together.
Especially interesting is that some heroes are missing. There’s nothing new about Doctor Strange, the Hulk, or Spider-Man. The fate of the last two will likely be revealed next week in the new Spider-Man film, as they probably didn’t want to give that away.
