Perhaps adding to an existing raid is quite a good idea.
Whether Bungie will really expand the Leviathan raid with Curse of Osiris, we should find out in one of the upcoming live streams for Destiny 2. The first one starts Wednesday evening. We will cover the streams on Mein MMO with a live ticker.
There are indications that the Leviathan raid in Destiny 2 could be expanded with the first DLC “Curse of Osiris”. Is this the “new raid content” that Bungie is talking about?
In recent years, Bungie has been repeatedly accused of merely recycling old content instead of providing new gameplay.
The last update in Destiny 1, the “Age of Triumph”, was a complete recycling lollapalooza. Every raid came back.
What is the new raid content in Curse of Osiris?
When the DLC “Curse of Osiris” was announced, skeptical Guardians raised their bushy eyebrows as they read that there would be “new raid content” in it.

This meant for the skeptics: There is surely some trickery going on. They surely won’t give us a new raid; otherwise, they would just write “new raid”, but something is being recycled or something in the direction of “Prison of Elders” is coming, which, as is well known, no one likes.
Is a raid designer trolling us or is there something to it?
However: The latest hints indicate that Bungie might continue to expand the existing Leviathan raid in Destiny 2.

This is suggested by a small conversation on Twitter. Someone said: “There are so many doors in the Leviathan raid. I would love to open one and see what awaits behind it. That would be the coolest design idea Bungie has ever made.”
One of the raid content designers at Bungie, Brendan Thorne, replied: “Funny you should say that.”
This is not an official confirmation, but it comes pretty close. Normally, “Funny you should say that” is something like the introduction to a confession: “Funny that you’re talking about this — that’s exactly what we’re doing!”
However, Thorne does not say that but only leaves the announcement hanging. Users on reddit think: Either this is seriously cruel trolling, or the user hit the nail on the head.
Some hints suggest that the Leviathan raid still holds secrets
Looking closer, this idea of a Leviathan raid XXL becomes more and more appealing. After all, numerous Cabal figures were listed in the booklet of the Collector’s Edition that Guardians have not yet encountered.
Moreover, it would be “resource-saving” for Bungie to expand an existing raid with additional wings and bosses instead of creating an entirely new raid from scratch: That would be some creative “recycling.”
For the existing DLCs for Destiny 1, there were indeed difficulties with resource scarcity:
- The DLC raid Crota’s End is considered the weakest in Destiny overall.
- For the 2nd DLC, Bungie didn’t even bring a raid anymore, but instead, with Prison of Elders, an unwanted surrogate.
Perhaps adding to an existing raid is quite a good idea.
