In Baldur’s Gate 3, you need more than just dice luck to survive a battle – however, if you roll poorly, you cannot win. This is exactly what happened to a player on the highest difficulty level against the final boss.
A player of Baldur’s Gate 3 was very confident when facing the final boss of the game on the highest difficulty, but then almost failed.
The “Honor Mode” is the highest difficulty level of the game and is characterized, besides stronger bosses and enemies, by having only one save slot. This means that anyone who dies has to start over.
Now a user on Reddit reported that his playthrough was quite easy until the end, but then he failed precisely because of dice luck.
Here you can watch the trailer for Baldur’s Gate 3.
Gale carries the solution very close to him
How did the boss fight go? Reddit user Fuzzy-Ad6915 wrote that he went into the final battle more than confident. Previously, hardly any character had been downed in fights, and his figures were both well equipped and well skilled, with optimized builds for the game.
The player states that the fight was a complete disaster. “Practically everything that could go wrong went wrong.” While he tried to revive his characters, more and more reinforcements arrived, and an attack from the brain ensured that only Gale remained.
At this point, the player realized that he probably wouldn’t finish the run and would fail just before the end. But then he remembered a skill of Gale that could still help him win.
Here you can view the Reddit post.
Which ability is it? Gale has the ability to blow himself up at any time. This allows him to destroy the brain. However, many players do not want to use this to complete the game with a living group. But the Reddit user had no choice but to trigger the explosion and win the game this way.
What does the ending look like? In the end, all characters die, and during the cutscene, according to the user, you watch as an “Echo,” a small floating orb that cannot interact with anyone. However, the members in the camp survived.
What do the Reddit users say about it? The creator of the post felt bad about finishing the run this way, but the users on Reddit encouraged him.
“No matter, golden dice!” writes Chipmunk_Whisperer referring to the golden dice you receive as a reward for successfully completing the run.
The user sirpsyco posted a GIF underneath that says “Still counts.”
mwhite5990 writes: “If I ever play Honor Mode and get that far, I will sacrifice Gale.”
While the fans of Baldur’s Gate 3 hoped for a Valentine’s Day patch last week, they were disappointed. Instead, the developers gave them penguin memes. You can read more about it here.
