In the road map of the survival game Once Human, it has already been hinted that new custom servers will be coming in 2025. The development team has now announced the first details.
What kind of servers are they? Players can pay a monthly fee to “borrow” a server. On this server, they can adjust the game settings as they wish. It is enough for one user to rent the server – other players can join.
The game master has a control panel with which they can spawn items or designate admins who have the same rights as they do. In addition, players can be kicked or even deleted from the server.
Since running such custom servers costs a lot of resources, players need to pay some money. Depending on the price, they can choose the duration of operation and the maximum number of players. How much this will cost is still unknown. However, the team promises to reduce server costs over the months.
This model already exists in other survival titles like Palworld. Soon, fans of Once Human will also have the opportunity to become their own game master. This was already hinted at in a roadmap for 2025.
Once Human offers customizable servers with advantages
What is special about it? The development team does not want to lease the servers through third-party vendors but offer official custom servers. They should provide the advantage of having no security issues, easy configuration, and stable performance.
The advantages over the game server include:
- Diverse customizable parameters
- Less lag and faster loading times
So far, players could only choose between PvE or PvP servers. With the rentable servers, they get a new option that offers a lot of freedom.
When are they coming? The early access trial phase is scheduled to start on June 5, 2025. The official trial phase will then begin on June 19, 2025.
