Blizzard’s popular online card game Hearthstone has now been modded.
For the opponent, nothing changes, but the player gets a different experience. A “modder” has managed to give Hearthstone a new look. Popular streamers like Amaz or Kripparrian become standard mobs that also get their own voice lines. Poor Kripp finds himself as Sludge Belcher, mumbling his “Hey guys, how you’re doing, Kripparian here” into the mouths of greedy enemy minions. Even the super-enthusiastic developer Ben Brode is not spared from becoming a minion.
While he was at it, the modder also replaced the “heal sound” with Pokémon sounds and changed some text, hiding quite a few small and not so small jabs at Hearthstone’s prominence.
But no matter what is displayed, it has no impact on game mechanics; it creates no advantage, rather a disadvantage if one doesn’t even know what is currently in hand and being played. What do you think about this?
