The world of GTA Online is regularly expanded with new content. The team at Rockstar Games releases updates multiple times a year, which can vary in size.
Since the release of GTA Online in 2013, many new contents have been added. In our overview, we show you all the major expansions that have been released for the online game. Smaller updates that only brought cars or races are not listed separately. There is no DLC for the single-player mode of GTA 5, but there is a mod that handles it.

2023 – All DLCs and Contents
Winter DLC 2023
When is the release? There is currently no information about the winter DLC in GTA Online. However, we are firmly expecting a release.
What’s included? The contents are also unknown.
Summer DLC 2023
When is the release? The summer update for 2023 in GTA Online has not been announced yet. Based on experiences from previous years, we are expecting a summer update again.
What’s included? The contents are still unknown.
Los Santos Drug Wars: The Last Dose
When is the release? 16 March 2023.
What’s included? In “The Last Dose“, it is the second part of the “Los Santos Drug Wars” DLC. In 5 new story missions, you will dive deeper into the story of the illegal drug trade of Los Santos. A highlight for story fans is the return of Dr. Isiah Friedlander, the therapist of Michael from the story mode.
2022
Los Santos Drug Wars (Part 1)
When is the release? On 13 December 2022.
What’s included? The update mainly refers to the drug wars in Los Santos and brings toys such as a drivable drug lab. As a new headquarters, there is the Freakshop and 6 crazy story missions.
The new drug lab becomes available once the 6 story missions have been completed.
With the new content, players will have the opportunity to earn money through drug sales. Of course, new vehicles are also part of the DLC. For some players, quality-of-life improvements, such as hiding certain contacts in the phone book, are very important. All content related to Los Santos Drug Wars.
The Criminal Enterprises
When is the release? 26 July 2022.
What’s included? The Criminal Enterprises DLC revolves around the most common ways to make money in Los Santos. New missions or features are available for CEOs, biker presidents, nightclub owners, and arms traffickers. Additionally, there is a surge of new cars and finally the ability to conduct activities like CEO sales in private lobbies, away from griefers. All content from Criminal Enterprises.
Release on PS5 & Xbox Series X|S
When is the release? On 15 March 2022.
What’s included? GTA Online was released as a standalone game for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. This update also includes the release of Hao’s Special Works, featuring special tuning for selected vehicles. All content for the next-gen update for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S of GTA Online.
2021
The Contract
When is the release? 15 December 2021.
What’s included? For story fans, the DLC “The Contract” is a highlight. It brings a crazy story with Franklin, whom you know from the single-player, and the famous rapper and producer Dr. Dre. The new content includes agencies that you can use as a base. The story missions can be completed in co-op. Added are typical DLC contents such as new cars, clothing, and more. All content related to The Contract.
Los Santos Tuners
When is the release? On 20 July 2021.
What’s included? With the Tuners update, the LC Car Meet is unlocked for the first time. A place where you can meet other players and show off your cars. Here you will also find private races and the opportunity to test-tune cars before buying them. As property, you can buy auto shops and start missions from there. All content from Los Santos Tuners.
2020
Cayo Perico Heist
When is the release? On 15 December 2020.
What’s included? The new heist “The Cayo Perico Heist” is the absolute highlight of this DLC. With 1 to 4 people, the new content can be played. You rob the drug lord El Rubio on his island. The main contents of the update are:
- The island Cayo Perico
- The submarine “Kosatka” with the coolest captain Pavel
- The new fast helicopter Sparrow
- and other vehicles like the diving Pegassi Toreador

Los Santos Summer Special
When is the release? On 11 August 2020.
What’s included? With the update, 15 new vehicles make their way into the game. Additionally, 6 co-op missions and new racing tracks for the formula class “Open Wheel”. The community is pleased about improvements such as a countdown in the casino that shows how long you must wait for the next spin at the lucky wheel. Or the convenient storage of personal vehicles. Open Wheel Race
When is the release? On 24 February 2020.
What’s included? The update activates the new Open-Wheel races. These are races for which a new type of cars has been introduced to the game that resemble Formula 1 cars. Here it’s about pit stops and how you charge and use your boosts correctly.
2019
The Diamond Casino Heist
When is the release? On 12 December 2019.
What’s included? As the name suggests, the DLC is fully focused on the heist in the casino. Here, you can choose between three ways to execute the heist. Quietly, loudly, or disguised. Each method has slightly different preparation missions.

The Diamond Casino Resort
When is the release? On 23 July 2019.
What’s included? This DLC revolves around the casino you find near the highway. The building has finally been completed after years of work and offers many features from a penthouse with a garage and rooftop terrace, to gambling at slots or horse racing, to the significant casino heist.
At a lucky wheel, you have a chance to win a car daily.
2018
Arena War
When is the release? On 11 December 2018.
What’s included? The focus of the DLC is on the arena workshop, where you can tune your cars in the most brutal ways with spikes, boosts, and ramming. In the arenas, you then compete with your cars against others and try to be the last one driving in the vehicle battle. Another feature of the update is the RC-Bandito cars, which you can also use to activate time trials.
After Hours
When is the release? On 24 July 2018.
What’s included? The highlight of the After-Hours update is the nightclubs, where you can earn money. At the same time, you can also use the nightclub in the true sense and dance there. Completing missions increases your club’s reputation to attract more guests. Conveniently for CEOs, you can jointly manage your businesses from there. Additionally, popular characters from the GTA story made a comeback: Gay Tony and Lazlow.
2017
The Doomsday Heist
When is the release? 12 December 2017.
What’s included? The centerpiece of the update is the Doomsday Heist, which runs in three acts. The crazy story of the heist is very popular with the community and is considered a must-see content for veterans.
As properties, you can acquire underground bases and store heavy vehicles like tanks there. The Avenger is a flying headquarters that you can enter and fly with several players.
Smugglers Run
When is the release? 29 August 2017.
What’s included? In Smugglers Run, the action shifts more into the air in GTA Online. Useful for this are the purchasable hangars, which serve as a base for missions, storage for goods, and storage for your aircraft. Earning money with the hangars works by using the aircraft for the theft of goods and then exporting them from your hangar with your planes. You can find a guide to hangars in GTA Online with us.
Gunrunning
When is the release? 13 June 2017.
What’s included? Highlights of the update include underground bunkers from which you can coordinate your arms smuggling. Here, you also conduct research to upgrade existing weapons to the MK2 variant. The Mobile Command Center is considered a “rolling fortress” and can be equipped with a sleeping space, workshop, and command room.
2016
Import/Export
When is the release? 13 December 2016.
What’s included? The DLC is aimed at CEOs who want to expand their criminal enterprises. In Import/Export, the aim is to steal expensive cars, refurbish them in the workshop, and then sell them for profit. Additionally, cars with boosts come into play. By reselling cars, one can earn a lot of money in GTA Online with little effort.
Bikers
When is the release? 4 October 2016.
What’s included? A Bikers DLC has been long demanded by the community and finally became reality. Here you can become a biker president with your own clubhouse and lead a team of several bikers. To make money, new businesses like money printing presses, coke labs, or hemp plantations offer many opportunities. Passive income generation is an important aspect of the game.
Cunning Stunts
When is the release? 12 July 2016.
What’s included? With the Cunning Stunts update, stunt races were added to GTA Online. With flips, jumps, and fireworks, these races provide a real change from the “normal” street races. Also, a large selection of new vehicles that can be partially tuned in rally or stunt style is included. Since this update, there are also premium races in online mode, where a high stake can reward you well.
Further Adventures in Finance and Felony
When is the release? 7 June 2016.
What’s included? The popular CEO feature from GTA Online makes its way into the game with this DLC. In the office, money piles up that you earn from selling stolen goods. You can hire friends and other players to help you with the work. Finally, there is an alternative to heists in GTA Online, which until that point were the best source of income.
2015
Executives and Other Criminals
When is the release? On 15 December 2015.
What’s included? The system for VIPs and bodyguards is activated for the first time in GTA Online. Super yachts that you can purchase via Docktease are also part of this update.
Lowriders
When is the release? On 20 October 2015.
What’s included? This update includes the titular Lowriders. Cars that can be raised and lowered with air pressure systems. Additionally, “Benny’s Original Motorworks” where you can equip selected cars with body kits.
Heists
When is the release? On 10 March 2015.
What’s included? This update can be considered “fundamental” for the future of GTA Online. With this DLC, difficult co-op heists were introduced that reward participants with six- to seven-figure payouts. Good communication and game understanding is important for the heists.
