Those who drive around in GTA Online probably don’t often follow traffic rules. However, in Australia, the actual driver’s license has now become a means to play GTA Online at all.
Why do you need a driver’s license? This year, Australia has implemented stricter youth protection laws, as Dexerto reports. The government wants to prevent minors from being able to play 18+ games like GTA. Therefore, gamers must provide identification.
One option for this is the driver’s license. The official document is seen as one of the ways to register for the age verification test. Therefore, those who want to play GTA Online can only do so with a driver’s license or other documents that prove they are of legal age.

Could this spread? That GTA 6 will also have an age restriction of 18 years is pretty clear. Accordingly, one would also have to show a driver’s license or other document to play the title in Australia.
In Germany, however, age protection is actually checked at the time of purchase. Everywhere GTA 6 can be purchased, one must provide their age. There is currently no verification before starting the game, but this cannot be ruled out for the future.
Age protection is especially a topic for extremely large games like GTA 6 because many teenagers and children want to play the hyped title. However, GTA is clearly a game for adults that should not be in the hands of children.
