In addition to the standard edition of GTA 6, there will also be an Ultimate Edition for nearly 100 euros. However, some of the contents included are likely to be expected by players in the regular version.
The wait is finally over: Rockstar Games has announced that GTA 6 will cost €79.99 at launch – for the standard edition.
Additionally, there will be an expanded version with the Ultimate Edition, which will cost €99.99. This includes not just purely cosmetic items or additional vehicles and weapons, but also content that is an essential part of the typical GTA experience.
Tuning, hairstyles, and tattoos cost extra
What is only available in the Ultimate Edition? As Rockstar Games outlines on the official website, the following content is included in the nearly €100 version:
- Rideout-Customs & One-Eyed Willie‘s: Two tuning shops for vehicles
- Sara’s Unisex Salon: A shop for hairstyles, beards, and nail designs
- Stock 305: A clothing store
- Electric Fang Tattoo: A tattoo shop
Rockstar states in the announcement that these shops are only open for buyers of the Ultimate Edition. This means that players who only lay down nearly €80 for the standard version will not be able to shop there.
Customization of game characters as well as vehicles is part of the DNA of GTA.
How does the community feel about this? The fact that parts of it are now suddenly extra costs is causing frustration among players. On Reddit, they write:
- “It’s just crazy what they’re hiding in the Ultimate Edition – whole shops,” writes venividivici7888.
- “Locking so much content behind a paywall from day one is just plain madness. I expected something like this in GTA Online, not in story mode,” says cube421. By the way, there won’t be an online mode at launch.
- “GTA 5 Online was a billion-dollar, ten-year cash cow – now the story mode fans are being exploited. How bad will it be in online mode?” wonders YeetLord.
Surely there will also be various stores for vehicles, hairstyles, or tattoos in the standard version of GTA 6. However, the fact that not everything will be available to everyone does not sit well with many in the community.
It will be interesting to see how Rockstar Games will restrict owners of the cheaper edition. Will there be price tags on the doors of the mentioned shops, or will a payment request pop up every time someone approaches them? Or will the shops simply be missing from the game world?
