A new item from the latest update for ARC Raiders initially caused disappointment. However, it can be not only useful in the right circumstances but also provide a lot of fun.
Which item is being referred to? It is the Powered Descender, which appeared in the “Riven Tides” update in ARC Raiders. It works like a kind of jetpack, except that it – to the disappointment of many players – does not allow a raider to defy gravity but merely reduces the fall speed. At least, that was the previous assumption.
On Reddit, player FaZ_ZeR shares a clip with various footage showing the Powered Descender carrying his raider through the air in the midst of a hurricane with high speed and solid height.

What can the Powered Descender do in a hurricane? When using the Powered Descender during a hurricane event, the item carries raiders much further than just falling down. With a well-timed jump, you can actually gain a little height, allowing the descender to somewhat transform into a jetpack.
This way, you can not only traverse the terrain faster, but you can also reach places that would be difficult to access with a normal jump.

What does the player community say about this use? The ARC Raiders community notes that the item can also take over the speed when used with zip lines and carabiners if you let go at the right moment and then use the descender. This use is so much fun for players that they are almost afraid that the game’s creators might take it away from them again: “Shhhh! Embark is listening” (ghost60606 on Reddit).
The comment with the most upvotes (physicsking on Reddit) reminds of Yondu from Guardians of the Galaxy (or the Walt Disney classic from 1964), recalling how he got to experience such a floating experience: “I’m Mary Poppins, guys!”
