The last episodes of Season 2 have initiated the “The Golden Land” arc. Since this storyline in the manga already spans an incredible 28 chapters, it is more than likely that the entire Season 3 will focus on this arc.
The imperial mage Denken, whom the group already knows from the mage exam, has been tasked with eliminating the last member of the 7 Sages of Destruction. This member is Macht, who transformed his hometown Weise into pure gold. Denken is determined to save his hometown, as doing so will also save his father-in-law Lord Glück.

In the end, Frieren succeeds in analyzing the spell and reverses the curse. The demon Macht is ultimately killed and partially comprehends what it means to form a human bond. Frieren, Fern, and Stark then continue toward Aureole.
