Albion Online
Developer: Sandbox Interactive GmbH | Setting: Fantasy | Release date: July 17, 2017 | Platform: PC, Mobile
What kind of game is this? Albion Online focuses on PvP while offering players many freedoms. You explore a medieval fantasy world where massive open-world battles occur. PvP fans can join a guild and conquer areas and cities together with others.
The combat system in Albion is classless. The equipment you equip determines your abilities – you can constantly change your play style. Even though equipment in Albion works more like potions, because in the PvP endgame you lose it constantly, similar to ships in EVE Online.
In addition to PvP, there are some PvE content. You defeat bosses, traverse dungeons, and complete solo or group expeditions. Crafting and housing also play an important role in this MMORPG.
Lost Ark
Developer: Smilegate | Setting: Fantasy | Release date: February 11, 2022 | Platform: PC
What kind of game is this? Lost Ark is an action MMORPG that started in Korea in 2018 and came to the West in 2022. You choose your character from 26 classes and then explore the world of Arkesia in ISO perspective.
First, you dive into the story, which offers many dialogues and cutscenes. The story sends you in search of the lost Arks, a secret weapon against the world-devouring demon Kazeros.
At level 50, you reach the endgame of Lost Ark – Now the real game begins. Daily you complete dungeons and raids to farm and improve your equipment. With a higher item level, you unlock more content, allowing the story to continue. The deeper you dive into the endgame, the more difficult the content becomes and the better the raids you have to endure.
To counteract the significant grind, Lost Ark has a large catch-up event approximately every 3 months, offering newcomers or players with less time massive opportunities to catch up with their friends. That’s why starting in this MMORPG is always worth it at the beginning of these events.
The next one is expected to start on March 20.
