The servers of Fortnite will be shut down today, Thursday, July 16, 2026, for a patch. We are live for you and provide you with the most exciting info on leaks and server status.
Today, your patience is required again, as Fortnite receives a fresh update to version 41.20 and brings various new features to the game. However, the servers will be taken offline, and you won’t be able to log in for a while.
To keep you informed about when you can play again and what new features await you, we are here with the live ticker and gather all the important information for you to stay up-to-date. As soon as there are patch notes, you will find them here as well.

The servers are running stable and the first players are enjoying the new update. We are also ending our live ticker and letting you dive into the fresh update. We wish you all a lot of fun, and feel free to check the ticker again if you missed the server downtime or want to catch up on the leaks.

There are still no detailed patch notes, so here for you are the most important changes at a glance from the official homepage:
- New Content
- “Bat Cave” (location), Batman beach buggy (vehicle) and Batman grappling hook (item)
- Batman Sprite
- Craftable through quests, allows Bat-Cape flight and increases chances of rare sprites in chests
- Free Loot
- New quests yield back accessory, pickaxe, and glider in Gotham summer design
- New Shop Skins (Available July 17, 2:00 AM CEST)
- Gotham characters in summer looks including LEGO styles
- Event: Shining Moments (July 18 and 19)
- Starting loadout with grappler and self-revive, increased spawn rate for buggies and rare ghosts
- Timeframe: July from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM CEST and July 19 from 3:00 AM to 5:00 AM CEST
- New Late Game (Rift Anomaly)
- Escape in the battle bus through a rift secures the victory (also for multiple teams), those who miss the departure will lose automatically

There’s also a new feature called “Bus Victory Royale”:
- In some matches, a rift anomaly can occur.
- The battle bus reaches a marked location.
- At least one member of the team must board.
- Multiple teams can win the same match.
- If you miss the bus, you lose, even if you are the last one standing.

Good morning! It’s about to start! The matchmaking is already over, so until the servers are back online, you can’t play anymore.
If it goes as usual, you can expect to be able to play again around 12 or 1 PM. We will keep you updated if it’s shorter or longer.
All important info on downtime and the new content at a glance
- When do the servers go offline? On July 16, 2026, likely starting at 10 AM. Shortly before that, usually about 30 minutes prior, matchmaking will be disabled, and you will not be able to join.
- When can I play Fortnite again? In most updates, you can return to the game after about 2 – 3 hours. The servers should be back online around 12 or 1 PM.
- When will patch notes be released? Epic Games only sporadically posts patch notes for the updates online, usually only after the downtime. Once they are available, you will read them here.
What content will be there? On the one hand, the summer event in Fortnite called “Hot Bat Summer” will start. Additionally, there will be a collaboration with the new film Odyssey by Christopher Nolan, where you can secure matching skins. Also, some new sprites are expected with Batman, Seven, and Air.
