Recently, a part of the map of Fortnite had to be changed: the player-generated section “The Block” was removed and replaced with a new one. The developers of Fortnite noticed that the scene resembled a suicide.
Where was the scene? Fortnite has an area on the map called “The Block.” Periodically, buildings created by players are released there.
In Battle Royale, players can enter the buildings; they are part of the game and integral to the current map, where Fortnite Battle Royale is played by millions of players.
On April 2, one of the buildings was replaced by a new creation. There was initially a creepy house. But that had to be replaced just a few days later with the Tropical Treetops.
The change became necessary for Epic because fans raised concerns that the house would depict a suicide scene.
What kind of house was that? The user FuryLeaks created the building. Players could explore the house from top to bottom; there was a lot to see. On Twitter, the creator shared a tour of the house.
At the end, one can see a character hanging from the ceiling, with an overturned chair underneath. It resembles a suicide.

The player req-q writes on Reddit: “Epic should really check the maps before they appear at The Block. Someone hung themselves here.”
How Fortnite reacted: After this part of the house received much attention, the developers quickly removed this building and replaced it with an older one.
“It was just a joke”
The creator of the building, FuryLeaks, spoke to the website Polygon about the situation. The house was meant to show what was left after an earthquake.
“The chair was supposed to hang on the rope but fell down,” explains FuryLeaks. “I made a joke in the cinematic, with someone hanging themselves… but… yeah. It really shouldn’t look like that.”
On Twitter, FuryLeaks also writes, “Welcome to Fortnite. A game where you kill people. But we also hate it when people die.”

In the meantime, Fortnite responded to the situation. They say that the creator’s content from The Block was removed because it did not comply with the content creation guidelines.
