The Team of the Season event in FIFA 21 is currently bringing a lot of strong cards to Ultimate Team that are quite expensive. But there are also a few interesting bargains.
This is the TOTS: In the Team of the Season, players are equipped with highly improved cards that should reflect their strong performances of the season. A large portion of these cards belong to the best in the game, but are correspondingly expensive. Absolute top cards like Valverde or Alaba are priced close to a million, which is a range that is hard to reach for many players. Also, there are some expensive cards in the Premier League TOTS.
The good thing about the TOTS is that it also offers strong cards for players from smaller leagues or those that are difficult to link. These cards are still extremely strong but cost only a fraction of what you would pay for the top players. We’ll take a closer look at three of them here.
Ricardo Santos
This makes Ricardo Santos strong: At first glance, the card doesn’t seem that great. It has a total rating of just 85 and costs only 15,000 coins. Additionally, Ricardo Santos plays in the EFL League Two for Bolton Wanderers. So he is not exactly easy to link – or?
An advantage is that Ricardo Santos comes from Portugal and thus fits well with players like Bruno Fernandes, Cristiano Ronaldo, Joao Cancelo, or Ricardo Pereira. These are already some very decent teammates.
And then there’s the close look at the attributes. Santos’s biggest weakness is his shot with a value of 46. Admittedly, that’s quite terrible and likely brings down the average of the card. On the other hand, a center-back doesn’t necessarily need good shooting stats.
On the other hand, Santos has excellent values in pace, defense, and physicality, which are much more relevant. Among other things, he has a strength of 99, along with 99 agility in dribbling and 95 in reactions. If you then add a Shadow chemistry style, you essentially get a perfect center-back. And that for 15,000 coins.
Danjuma Groeneveld
This makes Danjuma Groeneveld strong: Groeneveld plays in the second English league for AFC Bournemouth. Similar to Ricardo Santos, this may explain why the left midfielder is less expensive.
Again, there’s an attribute that brings down the average – namely the defensive stat. But here too, it is relatively unimportant. Because you don’t need Groeneveld for defending.
Much more, you should fully exploit his strengths in pace and dribbling, simply outpacing opposing defenders on the wing. His shooting and passing stats are also decent, so you can do something with the ball once you reach the opponent’s goal. With four stars in skills and a weak foot, Danjuma Groeneveld has sufficient flexibility. With a Marksman style, you can further enhance his already good offensive stats.
Still, the question of links remains. But for the Dutchman, there are plenty of good teammates, such as the special cards of Sinkgraven, Klaiber, Robben, Fer, or Huntelaar. You could really be worse off. Groeneveld costs about 30,000 coins.
Odsonne Edouard
This makes Odsonne Edouard strong: Edouard is playing in the Scottish Premiership – also an unusual league. As a Frenchman, however, he gets plenty of links, so there’s no need to worry about that.
And also the stats are worthy of a strong TOTS card. A pace of 94, dribbling in the 90s range, and shooting stats in the high 80s, including a finishing of 95. Offensively, the striker has everything it takes and also brings two four-star ratings. In terms of physicality, he impresses with 91 stamina and 90 strength.
In short: as a striker, you can play Edouard without worry, as he can at least keep up with significantly more expensive cards in terms of stats. Edouard currently costs about 42,500 coins.
